I’m really disappointed about this ($$$) Couple years ago I tried to install Windows 11 and it “bricked“ my computer. It was only a few months old when I did the upgrade. Best Buy was able to rescue my computer. I absolutely HATED Windows 11. (I think somehow I was able to use it long enough to learn that I HATED it.)

@Douglas_Blake_5795 ай бұрын
Windows 10 and 11 are largely windows 7 core and api code with window dressing on the desktop. The only reason new computers will not run Windows 7 is that changes in the bios interrupts prevent the installer from running on uefi based machines. There are drivers available to overcome the OS's two limitations of not supporting USB3 and M2 SSD storage. Overcome those limitations and Win7 will still install and run.

After trying Windows 11 on my laptop and really not liking it I threw Mint on it, that was about a year ago. Finally ripped the band aid off and moved my main desktop over to Pop OS and while not painless I've gotten most of my games to work with proton (I don't play many that use anti cheat) and have found replacement apps for most of the things I need that I wasn't already using something cross platform/open source for. I've been using Windows since 95a and work with any number of OS's, there is good and bad to all of them but I'm much happier now that I only have to deal with Windows 11 in small doses when I need to do something on the mini PC I got to run Windows 11 on.

@@kensmith5694 if I am giving the option to use either use windows 11 or windows 7, i definitely will choose windows 7, without any hesitation. let's face this; if the developers of said operating system is running out of solutions for permenant problems, they would have to create a new structure that is : - is it new and unrecognizable - assure maximum security updates and features - stable performance - and all other things that must remain in an operating system; playable video games, playable musics, playable videos. that is exactly what's happening for windows 10 right now and what happened for windows 7. hackers and corrupters have managed to bypass security and is looking for money-hijacking by exploiting everything. these hackers have no sympathy, no boundaries, no rules. and it pisses me off knowing that a very functional operating system no longer recieve supports due to developers are running out of options. these previous operating systems remain usable, not on the internet. things like paying stuff in court, etc. i looked at windows 11 myself. relative of mine have it. it's ugly, it's unrecognizable, and it doesn't make sense. if microsoft finally decided to leave us users hanging, i have no purpose to chase in life. i'd stop using computers, stop using mobile devices, and just live in the woods. and i don't want to be a crucial option. i want to know that there are loyal, not-greedy, respectable, dedicated group of individuals putting effort into keeping their precious creation active and protective. there is massive shift in the design, from windows 98, through windows XP, windows vista, windows 7, windows 8, windows 10, until windows 11. when i tried windows 10, it was okay. it wasn't that ugly. it kept that original style and ability to recognize. and looking at windows 11, i'm not buying that OS. i genuinly hate it. it's bland. it's looking like MAC-OS style, and it's driving me nuts. surprisngly looks like they are trying to force-install windows 11 on windows 10. mine failed. i'm glad it did, cuz i keep seeing "suggesting windows 11", and this pc isn't upgradable anyway. so yeah. that's the entire list of reasons why i want to stick with windows 10. there are many other reasons that i could think of, and other folks have opinion that i could agree on, but i won't go into that.

Here's a couple of things that you could try. If you have another port that you can use, then try that. Also, if you have a spare monitor, try replacing it with a known working monitor.

I was planning to continue on Win10 - until my Win10 box started throwing disk controller and disk surface fault errors.
