Your first show with a young horse is always exciting. No matter how much you’ve trained, you never know how he or she will react in this new situation.
I was in the lucky position to give Ultimo van de Donkhoeve WS (Iago des Pupliers) his debut during a home show. He already knows the arena, but most fences are new to him and only one week earlier he jumped his first 80cm course in training. Because of his easy-going character I knew he was ready for it.
👉🏻 With horses who are more ’spooky’ I always train on a different location first
👉🏻 The really fresh ones I take on the lunge line, before going to the warming up
👉🏻 But most important is taking your time. If you don’t have to rush at the show, your round will go much easier
Good luck 🍀
