Happy to be of help! It’s always hard to tell the difference between the marketing points and the real experience with different transmissions for these cars

Great video! Not a lot of people explain when you should consider upgrading the MT82 and what stage they should get! Can’t wait to get my calimer built T56 swap running!

Thank you! I’ve seen a few videos about Calimer mt82s but they never answered all my questions. Built T56 should be super baller!

Great deal on the set up, makes sense why you went that way. My 1st MT82 died, went Stage 3, that died and I'm only at 600hp This is my 5th manual car and I have never killed a transmission but now 2. Calimer does a great job with a garbage platform, its just such a roll of the dice and the internet is filled with similar stories. I bit the bullet and went with a built T56 Mag rated at 1200hp I just can't waste anymore time on money on the MT82, Grannas makes a impressive T56 My swap was 10k but I feel a lot better with a platform with a solid history then gamboling on another MT82 especially since my new build is almost 900hp

Totally get it going for the T56. It’s expensive to get into but hopefully it will last you a long time. Ford should really make a Mustang with a coyote & T56 from the factory. I’d buy that so fast.

Good video dude! Im one of the lucky ones that has a surviving stock MT82 at around 1k hp (crank). I've noticed a pattern with people changing the trans fluid and having failures after. I always recommend that they leave the trans sealed with the OEM fluid - mines untouched. It's just something I felt like adding in here for anyone watching or reading these comments in the future. Im curious to hear how that stage 3 holds up for you. Definitely makes sense going the route you did on a budget. Im pretty confident I'll be going built T56 once this stock MT82 fails. Im sure the day will come as I refuse to proactively change the trans lol I want to push it till it blows lol

That’s wild man! Glad that yours is holding up! I’m genuinely curious what could cause the unopened mt82s to be more reliable. In theory changing the fluid would help keep it fresh but maybe there’s some secret magic there. My stage 2 did actually break about 100 miles after a fluid change. I’ll definitely update on how the stage 3 mt82 holds up. Gonna put some miles on it and rip it some. Since you race so much it makes a lot of sense to put a T56 in yours. Maybe even a faceplated one?

My 2015 Roush stage3 still has the original MT 82 shifts like butter with the MGW race spec trans mounted shifter. BUT every bearing in this transmission makes noise. 67k miles on this car. With 750 wheel. This fall a stages 3 BC will go in it.

Love to hear of a good experience with the MT82! Making 700+ it will definitely be helpful to put a stage 3 in it here soon. MGW for the win as well!

Stage 1 and 2s are a joke to me. just using stock gears and that micro polishing is a scam. After all the negative reviews, i ended up getting a blown one and starting rebuilding them myself. Now, im rebuilding them on a weekly basis, and with those, there are numerous calimer rejects. Now, i use all HD amp gears and 26 spline inputs, which is good for 700 hp.

Good stuff! Looks like the MT-82 is decently hard to take apart. Once you figure that out and add some stronger gears I’m sure it would make it stronger.
