The internal pocket is a bandage pouch, if you want to replace the button do white or leave it alone The collar buttons are for the kragenblinde which was a piece of cloth to stop itching and sweat

Speaking for the majority of the reenactment community, avoid epicmilitaria like the plague, its a bummer to have to rebuy everything because you cheaped out on tunics., if you have a low budget, then buy uniforms from Gavin. Its not the best but its a whole lot better than epicmilitaria.

I used to be in a reenactment group based in the UK and most of us used epic militaria , they were not the best but they got the job done , we tended to avoid SOF or soldier of fortune as their stuff was really cheap and bad quality

Actually about to be doing the same haha. Decided to pick up one of At The Front’s M40 tunics as a woods coat. Never considered picking up German stuff before… but looking it over it checks off all the boxes I want. Was a little surprised reading into them and seeing how functional they are.

Awesome video! You all know so much about the details. I’m wondering if anyone here can help me get information on my paternal grandfathers regiment during ww2. He was a nazi and I have a picture of him from 1939 in uniform. He has 2 ribbons on but it’s a black and white picture and I can’t identify what they might be. I know he was a Hauptfeldwebel in the 1st mountain division (edelweiss on sleeve) 99 infantry regiment 3rd battalion. Although his rank/appointment was mainly administrative in nature I was told he was shot (but survived) in Poland and was eventually captured as a POW in France or Italy. His war was over early and sent home as my father was born in feb 1944. Any info would help. Or even pointing me in the right direction to a person or website that can help would be appreciated. I can send the pictures I have to whoever is willing to help.

But he passed away in the early 90’s. I do have a watch he got in POW camp. He traded for it with sugar he stole. My father used to wear it and gave it to me a while ago.
