I like British celebrities cause they're really not that far away mentally from all of us peasants, whereas I bet tom cruise doesn't even know whether milk costs 2 dollars or 15.

It's because you can be on TV in Britain and still only earn enough money that you still have to live in an apartment with a roommate and take public transportation.

This is part of what British comedy is. Playing DOWN on what you have. Taking the piss out of every possible scenario, especially ones where your personal shortcomings shine. The smaller your dick, the harder you should be flapping it about. With that minted Porsche pulling up to take you away, and subsequently prove your inadequacies.
@paladro6 жыл бұрын
but cruise is like the head of a cult, not really a fair comparison... i would wager anyone with some kind of professional/personal assistant for years, might be distant from everyday purchases like that.

We don't have those stores in the US. The rich people go to Whole Foods here. Here in Chicago, the rich people go to Whole Foods, Trader Joe, and Mariano's. Broke folks like me, we go to Kroger stores, Walmart, and Target.

+Steph S Why would you not drive for 3-4 minutes to a normal supermarket? Are there none within 5 minutes drive?
@highestsettings7 жыл бұрын
Perhaps they can't drive mate. I mean it's not that uncommon. I can't drive. Having said that, if not being able to drive forced me to shop at waitrose I'd learn to drive just to save some money.
@VestigialHead7 жыл бұрын
+Johnny Torpedo Yeah you could be correct. A car can be an expensive utility. Where I live it is a necessity. No train lines and fairly big distance between things.
@ssh14876 жыл бұрын
Kutulue 1) I can't drive, still learning 2) even if I didn't, fuck off am I poluting the air to travel to do my groceries. To be fair though I still live with my parents so it's down to them, they're fairly well off, and when I was at uni I usually shopped at Tesco XD but if you're as economical as I am, you could buy all your food at M&S even if you're a cleaner, just have to keep an eye on the reduced section and bargains, and buy the biggest packages for the best value. And don't get a bloody ready meal, they're like 10x more expensive than if you cook the same thing from scratch. When I was at uni I was the one who was always in plus monies, granted I did borrow a total of maybe £1000 from my parents for the whole three years. So yeah I don't drive when I can walk, that's what chav parents do with stuff like taking their kids to school when every school is at a walkable distance from anyone's home these days, fucking wastes of oxygen. In my town, though, even they sometimes shop at Waitrose.

@cait93997 жыл бұрын
Is waitrose really that expensive in uk ect?
@michaeldavies17827 жыл бұрын
Cait Yes and no. It depends entirely on the item. One can take advantage of their offers &c. and pay comparable prices with the lower supermarket chains, but Waitrose also cater towards a more expensive clientele. So whilst their "essentials" range is normally priced, their luxury brands are higher priced and they also stock very expensive items, which is where the reputation comes from.

+Aoru +Aoru interestingly the only unit they have to put on the label is litres but most companies still sell milk rounded to pints, because we like pints here, so the labels have odd numbers like 2.27 on them.

I am not from the UK but I love British panel shows!What I have noticed over time is that there are so many jokes about your shops.In this case i knew that Waitrose are considered posh but i don't know if they are considered expensive as well.Could somebody tell me?And if anybody can,could you name a couple of shops and how they are perceived in the UK? (For example I had never heard the one that Richard mentioned.)
@Block16186 жыл бұрын
Lina Vlo The tier list would be something like (from more to less posh/expensive) Waitrose Bit of space here Sainsburies Morrisons Tescos Asda (the one Richard mentioned and owned by Walmart, so somewhat comparable) Lidl/aldi wouldn't really directly fit onto the list, but would probably be percieved to be on the low end. Personally they have some of the best quality stuff though if you don't mind limited choice.

prem sharma And yet you couldn't be arsed to tell the rest of us. For others looking for it: The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the Civil service (from wiki). And MBE means you're a member of the order.
