I've been a psychologist and especially children's therapist for 10 years now, and this video was very useful and interesting, and also reassuring for me.

Excellent video. I just liked and subscribed. I am a child & adolescent therapist in Wheeling, WV. Very good helpful hints while working with this population.

Thank you for this! I wonder how you actually work with them/what you work on while they’re making these crafts? I feel sometimes these types of kids get engrossed in these activities and then don’t want to actually work on the skills they need to or talk about difficult things.
@thegratefultherapist Жыл бұрын
We often work together on the crafts and that is often when they are most open to talking about hard things. Active kids often need to do something with their hands, rather than just sit and talk, talk, talk. It's been the perfect time to talk about the hard stuff going on in their family, or whatever they were referred to therapy for. Keep in mind, these are little kids, so they are not going to have full, sustained conversations, like adults would. Thank you for your comment! Quenby Gallahan, LMFT
