I am so greatful that you guys are being open and talking about dementia. Hearing from you and hearing from your wife, is great and i appreciate it. My father's is starting to have memory problems ( he also had an episode of confusion for a long time and lost for hours) and i do want to get him tested and its very difficult because i don't want my father to become depressed more than he already is. My father's mother (My grandmother) was diagnosed with dementia in her 80's and it was difficult as a son and also fearing he might have it eventually. I live in Houston and another fear is that he owns things he is very attached to ( 🔫 ) and don't know what kind of conversation to have without having the fear of him closing out and taking away his independence. But thank you guys again.❤🙏

I know i left a comment when i first ran into your wonderful video. So thankful again. Now not only do i have my father (who is believe to have dementia by multiple doctors ) but now my own mother who cares for him is in denial. I am having issues helping them and keeping them safe like I mentioned on my first comment. At this point idk what to do because my father is currently not wanting me to be involved..... I am the only one that can help them. 😢

I'm in the same boat. My mom is adamant that she doesn't have a problem, but they've had some serious issues with house maintanance and overall safety. She's also done strange financial things that don't make sense and are harmful to them, since they rely on certain things to pay their bills. She got very angry at my suggestion that I change bills to online/automatic. And other changes to make their house safer and structurally sound were also met with angry resistance. Other family members don't agree that they have dementia and think that just "putting handrails in the hallway" is the answer. It's very isolating being the only one who sees it.

@@mvbigmagic4048 I am so sorry to hear you kinda in the same boat as many of us. We know our parents better than anyone else. It a period of the denial that is a process to get thru. Specially when we change things up drastically. My only advice is to try you best to take it slow and try not too over work yourself with her. I know how hard it is to do it alone. But you have many ppl that will be here that will help you not feel so alone. Breath in and out and take ur time as you help your mental well being.

We are truly blessed, and we feel it’s our calling to share with others. That dementia is not the end of life.
