G'day ,thanks for the tip, by the way I noticed that the end/tail of the strap comes out under the handle , this is a tip I learned not so long ago as well ,when you connect the strap and racket together just before ratcheting (the ratchet must start of closed) and the tail/end of the strap should be entered under neath and exit out the top , so that as you ratchet ...the tail ends up behind ( the ratchet has the potential to come unlocked the way you have it ) ( if that strap was to catch on something then tit lifts the ratchet handle it will become unlocked ...hope you understand what I meant

I was born & raised in the trucking profession. After a hitch in the military, i followed in my dad's footsteps & drove trucks for 25+ yrs until a low back injury put a permanent braking stop to my career. I did alot of OTR (over the road) flat bedding/drop deck loads through the years. A driver once showed me an awesome way to stow & put away the "excess" strap behind any flatbed trailer ratchet. I have since then shared that awsome "excess strap stow away" idea to alot of other fellow truckers who had trouble trying to stow the excess strap away! I wish i could make a video to show you how it was done & there was no knot of anykind in this "excess" like ya have shown here. I'm most certain you would like my idea. Cool video you showed though & hopefully will help other who see this. Take care, God bless, & be safe.

Maybe if ya was to friend me over there on Facebook Messenger. . . . perhaps i could git my girldriend to help me with a video sometime soon & i could show ya. Thnx for this video! I've hauled for many years, and NEVER saw this method used! I thought I had used them all .... You threaded the ratchet wrong, The tail should come out the top and then your knotted roll can be tied to your tensioned line.
@gilsonEUA4 жыл бұрын
I agree with you.
@calvinvandine13524 жыл бұрын
Both ways work. When the tail comes out from the bottom you will find it alot easier to release. When the tail comes out the top it can be very difficult to release. Imo

Couldn't see you on video taking it loose, but like the way you tied it up.
@tomcleaver476311 ай бұрын
I do that too, but Instead of Pulling it tight in the centre of the ball You kind of push it and work it down the end, and then it turns into a half hitch that is an even better knot
@dzl68482 жыл бұрын
Little better tip. Roll it tighter. I leave just enough hole for the strap to go threw. Then roll it tight. Then I go all the way over the roll then cinch it up. Looks neater and won't flap around as much h.

I take that ball of extra, squish it flat, and tuck it between the trailer rubrails running between the stake pockets long ways. so when you look down between the rubrails you will see the edge or outside of the ball. make your ball larger or smaller depending on how much extra you have, making sure it tucks down in there snug.
