A couple of years ago I let a Leek go to flower just to see what would happen and maybe gather some seed. I had no idea how popular that flower head would be with the 🐝 Oh wow, was it covered in insects 😯 Then I figured it was time to get in looking for seeds. And how many seeds did I get! Oh wow, I was not expecting that result 😮 I got excellent germination from those home saved seeds this year too 🥳

You can also put them on top of a cup of water with the bottom of the bulb slightly toughing the water and produce spring onions in your kitchen window sill.

I just cut an old onion flower head down and noticed some seedlings sprouting in the flower head itself. Well I’ve now removed 50 ready-rooting onion seedlings. It had fallen over so I can only assume the rain and soil kept it well watered but I was stunned! All played up in trays now 😂

A little off topic, but I simply adore and am absolutely green with envy with folks who can live in the English countryside... So quiet, peaceful, tidy, lovely landscape, etc. Have never found what I consider the equivalent here in the USA. I'd move to the UK in a heartbeat to live like this... Parts of Ireland too.

You apparently haven't been looking in the right places. There are a lot of spots in the U.S. that are comparable to the English countryside. I've found such areas in New England, farther down the East coast in places such as Virginia and North and South Carolina, as well as in the Midwest. Nice small towns and villages, friendly people, farming communities, tidy with green landscapes and forests. I'm sure there's somewhere similar in just about every state.
