I feel the world would be much better if we had more regular folks publishing/sharing journals, or life histories than only Athletes, Politicians, Wealthy People, Hollywood Actors, Business People, (your get my drift). Great topic, thanks for your videos.

I personally wish there was a library sort of thing for journals. Like you can give your old journals after you die or even when you are alive there. Then other people who would like to read about somebody's life will grab one journal, purchase it maybe or just take it and read it. In this way, strangers have the maximum chance to read our journals so they might not judge us or get hurt. And it also ensures that people who are interested in reading them will get an opportunity. I personally would love to read about other people's life.

Yea just like mass publish the journals (if the person is ok with it if they're alive or if they write somewhere in the journal or have something in writing that says they want them to be published or in their will or something) and put it in libraries maybe have some pages have the actual handwriting but most typed up so it's easier to read especially if the person's handwriting is kinda hard to read or in cursive so people can understand it better than struggling to read it

I’m chronically ill, and don’t have a good prediction of how long I’ll live, so I’ve definitely thought about this. I’m on my second journal and there’s definitely things I’d rather no one see, so I’m considering scanning my favorite pages that I’ve done and give those to people and have the rest probably burned. My problem is that I don’t want to put it off just in case.

I can understand this feeling- I’m chronically ill too and have been journaling since 2016 (when my health issues started) and there are some journals that I wouldn’t want anyone to see bc they’re too dark. I started tearing out the good pages in those dark journals and putting them in a folder to keep, the rest I think I’m going to burn.

Another chronically-ill Journal writer, here...I am actually currently Hospitalized and have been writing ✍ within my Journal throughout this (and every Hospital stay). I am writing ✍ in my 63rd Journal volume soon. I wish I could publish them in way Anne Frank, Sylvia Plath, and Anais Nina had their personal writings published. Those that know me in this Life truly know so little about me. I have kept to myself.. I had to or otherwise face their abuse and judgment. They will at long last be made privy to the true, authentic me when I Die and all of my Journals are available to be read.

my mom passed away very suddenly when i was young and we kept her journals. they stay in a box with other things like pictures, keepsakes, stuff like that. my dad never really read them. he said when im older i can read them if i want. she wrote a lot of sad stuff and just journaled when she was in a *very* bad spot so i don’t know if i want to read that. also it’s a private thing so i don’t know if i should read them. i do have things like cards that my mom wrote on and pictures. they’re very special to me. i journal a lot! like a lot, and even though im still a teenager i have 16 journals so far. i think by the time i die (hopefully) i’ll have like a library or journals haha. i have no idea what im going to do. my favorite idea is to pass them down to my children, but then i wonder, like what will they do when they die? i just want to keep them in a safe spot this is a lot sorry 😭😭

Hi Carrie! 👋:) Um... honestly in the future, I'm thinking of publishing my journals to the world. And yes I know it can be risky and if I do decide to, I'll make sure to ask the people in my life if they're comfortable with it. And if they're not, I completely understand and will respect their wishes.

So I’ve actually thought about this and what I would do if my journals got damaged by a disaster. I’m currently on journal 35 so I have a lot of them. What I’m doing is I am currently scanning my journals and transcribing them. After that I plan on burning them. If I do pass on my journals I would pass on the transcript. I can also edit the part I don’t want to share. Keeping them preserved, but keeping my privacy. Also if something happens to them while I am alive I can still access them.

Carrie, I really just have to thank you for being such an inspiration to me and my fellow subscribers. Just today I finished my first journal, which in itself was a huge accomplishment, but it wouldn't have happened without the amount of inspiration you gave me to start a journal in the first place from watching your videos. I used to write maybe one or two pages and then just get bored, but ever since I started watching your videos, I have been doing daily writing which has helped me channel my anxiety and just overall overwhelming emotions as a teenager, really just trying to figure everything out. A lot of things have happened over the past year that have REALLY taken a tole on my mental health, but journaling really helped me realize that my mental health, (or your mental health in general) always goes first. Same goes for physical health. Thank you Carrie ♥📓🖋♥

What an uncommon question! There are many facets to consider. My dad writes everything! I would find comfort and heartbreak in reading it. Also, I may be upset in some of my interpretation. Publishing is a cool idea. But timing would be hard. Love the idea of a disclaimer. Maybe publish categories. "Read when you need comfort" "when you need a laugh"....etc. frame certain pages for certain people, then burn the rest. Or give them to a trusted loved one. Love you, Carrie! Hi Carrie! New sub here, and I feel so at home here. I've been keeping journals since 2001 and have accumulated over 70 journals. I've thought about what will happen to my journals when i die, and I have decided that NO ONE in my family will get them because some family members make fun of me for keeping a journal. The only people I would trust without a doubt with my journals are my two closest/best friends, so they're gonna get them when I go...

My diaries will go to my future daughter/s too. Perhaps even son/s if we get a very good connection. When I was 18, my mother gave me her journal from her 18th year in life. As an aspiring writer who one day wants the books, I write to become published, I always think about what would happen to my writing notes and journals when I die. One idea I came up with was to have a burning ceremony where people at my funeral burn my journals as a final "sendoff", the second idea I came up with was for people to tear them up and make paper flower bouquets for everyone to have.

I no longer keep a lot of Journals , I keep one for every year , so they only have good memories or life changing lessons that if my kids don't want in the future , I would love to give them to my students since as a teacher I do have strong connections with the people I teach , or it could be fun to leave them out on my grave to anyone who visits the graveyard , they can read the journals of a random dead person , that would be cool I think , I watched five feet apart and since that movie I've always wanted to make a journal/book of letters and memories for people I care about after I pass away .

Hi, Carrie, okay, I've been watching you for a long time, but I decided to write a comment for the first time. I'm a pretty depressed person, besides, I live in Russia and that explains everything. When I was in the 2nd year, I almost did something starting with "s" and ending with "cide". Then I reached the point of no return, when I no longer cared what of my innermost thoughts and feelings would be read. I wrote a goodbye note right in my diary. 5 years have passed since then, I have never reread that note because I was wildly afraid to find something there that would destroy me again. So I think I won't care about my diaries after I die.

I also thought about it. I've got a HUGE amount of journals and some of them are from a very different version of myself, like there's a before and an after I started seeing a therapist and those are very dark journals... 😹😹 however, I have been thinking... What if nobody cares about me anymore when I pass away? What if there's nobody to "take care of me" in that way? Somebody's life is a heavy burden... And, boy, those journals are soooo heavy too! But what if nobody wants to know you? That would be even sadder. The embarrassing parts... Well, I wouldn't care since I'm no more. They can think about me anything they want, but the real truth is in those pages because I'm them I cannot be anyone but me. Such an interesting point you did! Thank you 💙💙

Thinking of donating my journals to the university library, archives and special collections, where I graduated. There are many libraries and archives that would love to have diaries and journals. I am concerned, however, about the personal stuff and the people mentioned in my writing who have no say in my decision. Of that, I am torn. But, you may negotiate the time period that must lapse before they are read, 25 years after death, 40, 50. Still thinking this through.

i’m not exactly sure what i’ll do with my journals. i have some super private stuff in it. not just for me but also for others. i’ve shared stuff that’s really heavy on my heart. i’m not as concerned for my issues. but some of my friends have also gone through serious stuff and i’ve journaled about it because it was hard to hear. i used to have the idea of publishing it. But honestly, they’ve turned into more vent journals than anything. And I definitely don’t need just anyone to see that. I don’t know if I’m going to have kids. But I do have a niece and honestly if I don’t have kids, I will probably pass those on to her. i’m not going to burn them and i do want people to know about my life so i don’t think ill bury them. i just think it’s going to be very close family. it’ll be an issue for later in life though. i have a lot of growing from those really tough times and so do the people i wrote about. but yeah those are just my thoughts

i know i want my journals to stay in my family if possible. if i die before my parents or my siblings, which i hope i dont, but i know realistically its a possibility, only then they can read my journals. mainly because with the stuff ive written about them, they wont be able to do anything to me if I'm d*ad so there. 😛 😂 but also, I'd want any future relatives that will never meet me to know me as well. know what life was like centuries before they were born. what it was like going through the pandemic, even if it's from one person's point of view. i think it's interesting reading journals written by people from before any of us were around. sorry, now I'm rambling 😅

1. If I am dead I don’t care if they read them or misinterpreted 2. I regret burning journals from my teenage years because I didn’t want my kids to think I was a nut bar, but then when they were struggling through teenage years I think they would have benefited to know that everyone struggles 3. They is a difference between having a burn book and a journal 4. Go unedited, they need to see the good, the bad, and the ugly 5. Never heard of anyone wanting to be buried with their journals 6. Use initials or pet names for people if you don’t want to use their actual name

i kind of like the idea, that i could give my future daughter my journals, when she's the same age is was when I wrote it. (hopefully I will still be alive at that point, but maybe I will do it anyways)

I always think about like "If people in the 3000 had my journals they would know more about how we lived" but now people really save what happens so IDKK

I think I'd want to pass down my journals, because they'd be a major remnant of me. Though it'll be tough to decide who to pass it down to, since I don't have any plans to have children or even marry, and I don't think my brother does either. So it would probably be passed on to my cousins' kids (or their kids). I've been working at Walmart for almost 22 years, so one could read a lot of interesting Walmart stories in my journals, lol. I'm getting so close to the end of my second journal now. XD

I don't really care what happens to my journals after I die. They can do whatever they want with them. Of course, I hope in my heart that they will keep one or two of them at least 🤭 But it is entirely up to those who inherit me, which will probably be my sister's children. Since I don't have my own.

So on the inside cover I put my name and I number my journals and decades after I die I want someone to buy one of my journals and see that its like number 3 or 5 or something and wanna collect my journals so they can see what happened in my life and kinda like follow my journey of life and maybe even write a book about me using my journals, kinda like Anne Frank but for me especially if something happened (I hope nothing bad happens to me) but they can see me from 16 years old to however old I am when I die

My journal will be thrown away. I have no children. I am alone. So no one would care to see what I have written.

I might pass them on to family or a future important person in my life, even if they see my weird thoughts and depressed feelings, i'll be dead so who cares Or maybe if i become famous enough i could sell a couple of them on ebay 😂
