@@manolisbach2380 Greece is still a hidden gem. Because 34 million tourists is not the reason. 34 million tourists visit 20+ Greek islands. But what about Greece's 80% mountains, it's incredible mainland, it's incredible other 6000 islands. Sorry. But Greece is very much a hidden gem. I know, because I have visited Greece 60 times. I have seen so many incredible beauties that are ab-so-lutely spectacular. Greece has 80% mountains, and 20% of all of Europe's Ultra peak mountains. And as example. Greece has the longest gorge in Europe, the Samaria gorge. And also 1 of 3 deepest gorges in the World. Which is the Vikos gorge. It's a tiny example of Greece being a mountain and landscape paradise. Everyone does know Greece is spectacular. But they base it on 2% of Greece and still not taking the other 98% into account.

I have been in Greece..my favorite dish was lamb.eggplant with ground beef i forgot the name,recipe ,salad especially very delicious.i stay in Greece for 2 years . Also stay in crete..wonderful place to stay with..

We stayed at the Electra Palace. At dinner, I had lamb tartare. Incredible. We also had dinner at Spondi and Oinoscent Wine Bar. Lunch at 2Mazi, Nolan Japanese-Greek) and Varoulko Seaside (Piraeus). God! These Greeks have amazing food!

these are some of the most exclusive and expensive restaurants. We normal people don't have a chance to eat there.. Glad you enjoyed it but this is not your average restaurants.

These are good restaurants no doubt, but personally unless if I have to impress a date, I dont like eating places like these. Not only because they are very expensive, but because I enjoy 10X times better the food of a really good tavern. I dont know if its my working class upbringing, but I really think that these fancy pansy places are not offering an authentic experience. Usually they are taking simple Greek recipes and try to bastardize them into something hipster-french-like, over-complicating and many times ruining them. I mean if you like a certain dish they make ok, but 9 out of 10 when it comes to Greek cuisine you are not getting the real thing.

As you were eating the lamb it reminded me of my three week trip to a small Greek Island. There in the early 2000s I slept in a nice $4.00 USD room and ate most of my meals at a small restaurant. I ate grilled octopus for time and lots of calamari and lamb. I ate what was in front of me and enjoyed every bite. Altogether it cost me around $12 per day. I ate, played backgammon, ate , took a siesta, played backgammon, ate, and then slept. It was perfect in every way. By the time I left I knew a bit more if the language which was very helpful at the market.

All of Greece has very good food but, in my opinion two places are unbeatable Crete and Thessaloniki.Mark especially for you who are a lamb lover, you should definitely eat lamb in Crete.You will remember it for a lifetime.Great video I'm going to eat something because I'm really jealous!

​@@EuroTrotter everyone speaks about islands, well let me give you a glance in Greece's most precious gem. Peloponnese. Go to Kalamata and enjoy pork like you have never experienced before. Go to Pylos to check the natural beauty and history of the place. Visit Mystras the last kingdom of the Byzantine Empire and so much more... The food is gonna take your breath away. Forget the islands... They are overcrowded, they serve mediocre food etc.. go to Peloponnese and compare it with any place in the globe.

Chalvas is an acquired taste, some people will love it others hate it. The one made from tachini is the most common one. There are also other variants, such as chalvas farsalon, mainly found in the mainland at local celebrations. Keep up the good work!!
