The best "food" in Salzburg is the Augustiner Marzen. My favorite beer garden of all time too.

Most of these dishes are common all over Austria, so wherever you are, try them out. And also don´t forget the Würzelstände - you will find amazing sausages there! Then pleeeease, pretty pleeease with suger on top - eat the Mozartkügeln. Most Austrians are sick and tired of them, because they get drenched by them when it comes to Christmas and Silvester (New Year).

I live in Salzburg. You did a good job. You were right to emphasize the necessity of reservations. Thankfully the McDonald's that was in the old city has moved out. But a famous international coffee chain is still here. It would be a shame to miss the traditional coffee houses.

McDonald's moved out? When? We were there in July 2024 and I think it was still there.

The thing about Tafelspitz is that it's boiled in well-seasoned beef broth, not water, so it doesn't really lose all that much flavor. Definitely better than what you'd think of when you hear "boiled beef". It's more properly a viennese dish and famous for being our penultimate emperor's favorite but you also get it in Salzburg because the place was where Habsburgs went on vacation for a long, long time. Also the name refers to a specific cut of beef, but I can never remember which one that is...

Hey! Love your videos. We're in Berchtesgaden for two nights. I'm a chef, husband is a butcher! If you have any restaurant suggestions for B or for Salzburg that would be amazing! Heading there next week

Wiener Schnitzel are huge but they are actually only about 150g of meat pounded super thin. If it wasn't for the potatoes on the side it would be a regular sized meal!😅

When it comes to waiter friendliness, northern Austria is really bad; Vienna too, but Salzburg and probably more so Linz are the worst cities even for Austrians. I haven't yet seen a video from you visiting southern Austria, like Graz and the southern Stryrian wine regions. Service staff and people in general are much more welcoming there.

I agree with the Mozart Kugeln, but to be honest I didn't care for the Salzburger Nockeln it was disappointing but I wanted to try it and now I know I don't like it

Going to McDonald's in Salzburg or anywhere outside the US just seems wrong, but then again, my daughter would probably insist on it. 😞

there was a McD in Salzburg. There are still plenty i am sure, but no longer in the CityCenter.

Don´t do it. Go to any local supermarket and buy a traditional Austrian burger instead - Fleischleibchensemmel. They will prepare it for you, and you can add a lot of stuff. It is also cheaper, served faster and way tastier than any McDonalds. But ok, I realize that kids are kids! :)
@butenbremer19657 ай бұрын
There are tons of YT-channels out there specialzing on the Golden Arches and its menu adaptions in various countries. Did you ever eat at McDonald's outside the US? Personally, I'm not into that kind of food too much myself - however, I really do enjoy "Kaffee und Kuchen" at McCafés in GER. I've been seeing lots of local senior citizens "hanging around" at McDonald's owned McCafés, especially in the Gießen, Marburg, and Frankfurt/M Metro Region. So, if they enjoy it, it must be good! I still prefer owner-run local businesses, though.

My mom said that she experienced a real bitchy waitress in Salzburg when shw went in 2015. My mom asked for ice in her water since it was summer and the waitress gave her one measly ice cube and when my mom asked for more the waitress rudely said no

That's pretty typical in Europe. Not the attitude, but the no ice thing.
@zwiderwurzn59087 ай бұрын
@@jocelynwoltersworld I am from Munich and if I want ice cubes in my drink, I always get some. Usually, drinks are actually served without ice because most guests don't like icy drinks because it hurts the throat. Maybe the obligatory ice is an American thing.
@jocelynwoltersworld7 ай бұрын
@zwiderwurzn5908 yes, obligatory ice is definitely an American thing. I am rarely served ice but have never had the experience the original commenter did. Actually, after living in Europe, I got used to not having it.

Ask for sparking...its always ice cold. I suspect someone wanted tap water with ice. Nope. Its like asking for a huge basket of free bread
