A stray dog got into our yard this evening, which is surrounded by galvanized iron sheets, and pushed his way in through a weak spot to get to my two dogs. My dogs rarely ever get into themselves and at the volume, it was happening, I got highly concerned and sprung up from where I was and ran out there to see the stray and just before I got there, he had sunk his teeth into my more dominant dog and now there's a small pocket on the loose skin of his neck. I didn't see it right away but when I saw where he was bleeding from I grabbed antibiotic soap to wash it off then sobbed while hugging him. Not only because of the wound but because they only have one set of shots done. We don't have the money to get them their necessary shots yet but we're still doing the best we can to keep them safe and as healthy as possible til then. He seems to be doing fine, still going around jumping on me and wagging his tail playfully but I can't even bring him to a vet tomorrow because where I live, most places are closed on Sunday so I have to wait til Monday to call a vet or at least get something to put on his wound. I pray everything will be okay with him.

My jackchi was picked up in the mouth of a German Shepard yesterday. No puncture wounds that I can see but she is very traumatised. She’s 13 next month and suffered anxiety and has an over enlarged heart. I’m so worried about her as her behaviour has been not normal. Found her in the garden bed this morning which is unusual as she sleeps inside the house. She’s been pacing around the house and very jumpy at sudden moves or loud sounds. I’m taking her to the vet today for a check up which in itself is going to stress her even more. I feel for any other animal going through this. Sending love and light to you all.

@@kev2633 My dog’s actually really good now! We ended up going to a vet that night because of me and my mom pressuring him to go to the vet immediately, they took him in for a day and he came out treated with stitches and it healed over time.

@@DrLera My schnauzer got bit by a bigger dog 3 days ago😔 he's been acting very quiet an still...won't eat or hardly drink water and his bites have like a smelly puss odor smell idk what to do 😖 we put neosporin on him and gave him some antibiotics at home since the vet will be charging alot for maybe x rays,antibiotics etc we kind of just monitoring him for now

I see A LOT of pit bull/ pit mix attacks on here. Im tired of hearing about how it's not the breed but the owners that determine behavior. Yes owners play a big role but lets stop kidding ourselves that these dog breeds don't pose a much higher risk. My big dog who is a Rhodesian Ridgeback was attacked by a pitbull 4 days ago. We immediately got her to the vet and on antibiotics and pain medicine. She is on the road to recovery but this has been devastating. She had to have Staples and two smaller ones have opened up. We are following closely on wound care I'm going to get her back in for follow-up treatment. This pit that attacked her broke through our 7 ft fence. Count to find out from the owners that they rent from they are not even supposed to have dogs. This same Pitbull attacked my other neighbors dog about 12 days ago and almost killed him. The dog was not giving a warning bite. It was going for the kill spots. I love animals but will never ever own a pit of any kind. Anyone who decides to get a pit or Shepherd or Rottweiler any of the higher aggressive probability breeds should make sure they are 100% able to provide the proper care needed to house them. Including proper home security fenced-in yard, be prepared to only have one dog/ animal in case it doesn't play well with others and have the time and patience to train it. Owners are 100% responsible for their pets. I hope for healing for all those on here who have suffered their loved ones being attacked from irresponsible pet owners.

Your opinion is so biased, you just want to find something to blame like most ppl just a sheep, if you have ever actually been around multiple pitbulls you would clearly see it’s the owners and not the dogs, you are supposed to put your dog in the best position to succeed, my dog was attacked by a pit last week, the only reason that happened is cause of bad owners teaching bad habits, I have a pitbull of my own and he has never attacked a dog he has approached. Please keep your biased and unnecessary opinion to yourself and stop trashing on dog breeds you’ve never had.

My Dachshund Princess got attacked today by a neighbors dog and is very different in personality and attitude… she had 4 bite marks with two being horribly open and bleeding, I want to take her to a vet but vets are very expensive and we are trying home remedies that we found on secure websites. Just wanted to share this experience in case anyone had any form of warning or suggestion for this situation..

@@michelledambrathat would depend on where the dachshund was. If he was on the neighbors property, the neighbor has no obligation to cover the vet bills.

My dog (60# pittbull mix) was on our walk on leash and a neighbors 3 bulldogs blew through their invisible fence and attacked him in the street it was traumatic I felt helpless trying to get the dogs off him. Luckily no serious wounds if I had a small dog I don’t think it would have survived this. We went to our vet to get him checked out today. My poor baby didn’t deserve this at all.

He had to get stitches and also was bit in his artery in his mouth. Im wondering what to do to make sure he gets the best care, because if I dont properly take care of him he can get an infection and start to constantly bleed.

my dog today got attacked by what i believe is a chihuahua today... he was playing with his friend and when he was chasing his friend they saw another dog in the distance and both decided to run to it. I was a bit scared but i assumed it was gonna be ok as his dog must be well trained since its off the leash so both my dog and his friend ran to the chihuahua and obviously they looked like they wanted to play and chihuahua was off lead and was playing but then suddenly his dog came and jumped on my dog and started attacking him! Just to clear the situation out i want to say that my dog is a 7month old american akita but after he got attacked he didnt fight back or anything he just started to try and jump on their dog but all he did was jump and growl and this chihuahua went all out because his paw was bleeding a lot and after when i got my dog in the car he said he was sorry and that my dog made his dog uncomfortable because it is bigger and younger than his dog because it was a male and not desexed even though my dog is a big dog kinda husky size and is still a puppy and it wouldnt be the best option to desex him as he might grow abnormally since hes a big dog im still in shock but i got the owners contact details and asked him to pay for the vet bills but i think he refuses to pay? did i do the right thing and was my dog at fault because they do was unharmed and i dont know what to do as im a first time dog owner please tell me what to do as im completely clueless and very upset.

More than 3/4 of the people in comments have either themselves or their dogs been Bit by a pit/mix. I used to own one and they can be great dogs but wow that really tells you something. Germans shepherd a not very close second place.

Pits are used for fighting while German shepherds are not. So I suspect that is a big Factor

@@DrLera yup they both can be dangerous and together probably account for most of the attacks here in the US, but another factor is price. Pitbull puppies in most places go for free-250$ unless it’s a very special variant. GSD normally are in the 300-3,000 range. It’s allot more common for low income homes to own pit bulls and in allot of rough neighborhoods people don’t even leash them and definitely didn’t pay for any training makes it allot more probable for an accident to happen.

Do i just wait then? It literally just happened 5 mins ago. He has skin separation i massaged his arm and it was squelching. The dog was 4 times bigger then him it slammed him 3 times he bit his back and his arm. My dog was yelping the whole time. My dog is pug sized weight of 26-30 pounds this other dog was little bit smaller then a lab probably 60-70 pounds

During the summer of 2023, I was walking my 15-pound Shih-Tzu\Bichon cross with a friend on a hiking-biking trail along the river. My dog had been well-socialized with 2 litters of puppies & always wants to meet other dogs. We met a woman with two big dogs, at least 4 times as big as mine. Seeing mine, they dragged her along, & one attacked mine. While she retained hold of her leash, I released my dog to flee down the riverbank. The big dog followed, pulling the woman, & chasing my dog into the river. I grabbed her dog by its big tail & dragged it back up the bank. My friend tried to spray it with pepper spray but could only reach its back. I pulled my dog out of the river. The woman apologized. My friend called the police, we returned to the trail head, & all met with them separately. One of the policemen, seeing that the woman was not in control of her dogs, helped get them into her car. Afterward, he touched his eye & found that he had gotten some pepper spray from the dog. A few weeks ago, I was walking Teddy on the street & we passed a man walking his Samoyed on the other side. Both dogs pulled toward each other, but we got past. The next thing we knew, the Samoyed had broken loose & attacked from behind, with his jaws around my dog's neck & began to shake him to break his neck! Teddy yelped & cried. I hooked my arm around the dog's neck & pulled it away until its owner caught up. He did not try to call his dog or warn us, & he did not apologize. Teddy asked me to pick him up. I carried him for a block until he stopped crying. Fortunately, his sweater, thick coat, & studded collar protected him. Now, my dog is afraid even to play with a playful puppy smaller than he is. I began carrying pepper spray, but it is useless if one hasn't a warning.

@@aracelya5975 my 13 yo 30lb golden beagle was attacked by a 60lb female pit the other night,I had her on a 8 ft rope leash,he had her on an extendable thin rope,handle leash 20ft,I stopped bcus my dogs old and thought of picking her up but before I knew it she bolted on my dogs neck,and I punched it and wrestled it off and chased her back home and yelled for my parents at 11pm(work night)I ran back to the scene the guy had my bike leash and collar,he followed me back home then to the vet and payed for it,(2400)and I took off 200 w cone and X-ray under her chest,she got 13 stitches mainly on her chest right by her left leg and a few a couple inches farther up,now she has a jp drain and I’m keeping her as happy and still as I can

It was dark and I saw the guy coming but I didn’t see what dog he had,I stopped 50ft away and as he came closerI thought of picking her up but his dog bolted over in a quarter second and went straight for her neck l immediately started punching his dog in the back of the head and trying my best to pull its head off,in the moment I thought of using a knife but in the moment I knew I should keep trying to pull his dog off,if it was a 100lb male,I would use a knife or a gun,but you gotta take every precaution to stay away from sketchy looking people with big pit bulls,she had 2 attacks including this one and other interactions where the guy spent 10 minutes yelling at his dog,keeping me there while his pitbull circled and jumped on me,BE FUCKING CAREFUL OF IGNORANT PEOOLE,but the guy who paid for my vet bills the other night was really nice and respectful,I was mad at first, but he didn’t deny my story(bcus it happened right in front of him)and followed me to the vet

If it's a superficial puncture wound then Neosporin may be all that you need. It's hard to tell what your pet needs without actually seeing them in person so I am at a disadvantage. I would rely on the veterinarian who is taking care of your pet

I feel your pain, me and my husband where at our reception after getting married which also happened to be at our home. Once everything was over and our guest where leaving one of the guests accidentally let our pit slip out when they where leaving and she attacked our neighbors dog while they where walking on the side walk. This was horrible it was a very small pup we took her to the vet and covered the bills and have been texting N checking in to see if there is anything more we can do. We just feel awful. I have socialized her and taken her to bark park and she has been with friends animals and we even dog sat for a week with a friend. Vivian our dog does make me uneasy around our cats but my husband alway said I was crazy. Now after this I told him I do not feel safe with them both in the house. So now we must choice between her or the cats... I just don't know what to do. My family says rehome her and his family says training but in the mean time I would just lose it if she attacked again before training set it. I just don't understand she was very socialized and active with us. Around other dogs but something in me always hovered with her. Prayers to anyone going threw this on either end of this. Just horrible

My dog was attacked the other night when I was on a walk. A dog got out of the yard and attacked him and bit him on his back end. I have cleaned and it doesn’t look bad almost like a hot spot but it is really sensitive and he has been very lethargic so we are sure what to do. Our dog is a malinois and a pit was the dog that attacked him so they are both big dogs but my dog just isn’t acting like he normally does so not sure if that is normal? Would love any suggestion. It is normal that a day after he is not acting normal. The injury is probably worse then it appears. It is recommended you go to your vet. He may just need antibiotics and antiinflammatories or he may even need surgery.

My small dog was attacked by a German Shepherd and just concern cause she will not eat at all! She’s drinking water and that’s it. She has been cleaned all over cause the dog make her sht herself while biting her and wouldn’t let go of her. Now she’s just laying or sits for a couple of minutes then lays down again! QUESTION ? get this right ile subscribe .. a paterdale with no teeth attacks a chiwowa and leaves a bit of saliva on its tail ... the chiwowa has no injuries no teethmarks gets a checkup and gets the all clear ! .. no medication needed no harm done but the owner wants compensation from the patterdale owner who is mentally ill and uses bully tactics in a 1 off case of the dog escaping ..the patterdale owner is thinking she will go to jail and her stress levels hit the roof wich isnt good for her well being but acknowledges she is in the wrong and has said sorry numerous times but the bully wants money and all of this incedent is on his say so !!! no videos or evidence exists apart from her hearing the so called event in the form of her dog barking & the moment she opened the door the dog returned when she shouted it !!SO ... WHO IS AT FAULT ? ... DOES SHE HAVE A CASE TO ANSWER WITH NO INJURIES ... pls tell me your thoughts
