Allen The Vloger You may be able to go to your doctor and see if they can remove the diagnosis and give the recruiter a letter saying you don’t have it and it may make the process easier. many are diagnosed as a child with asthma but may have had another airway problem and have never actually had asthma. if not, you can still go meet with a recruiter let them know your situation. they will ask for medical records and it may be a longer waiver process.

So a couple things to help out, I graduated BMT in december (we did not have airmans week). My tech school was 6 hrs north, so we took the bus. I packed a tech school bag before I left: laptop, civvies, and some make up. My parents sent it as soon as I found out my address. I wore my civvies in my room, but otherwise I had to wear my uniform out side of my room (for phase 1). In my tech school, we had 3 phases. In phase 3 we moved out of our dorms and I didnt have a roommate and there was a lot less "drama", but more responsibilities. So it was cool. I took RAP too. They actually paid for my flight ticket from TX to OH, then my gas and my husband's gas from OH to NC, since we drove. They also pay for the movers for our household goods to be shipped from OH to NC (TMO), and they'll do it again when we PCS to a different duty station. Hope this helps, and I'm free to answer any questions as well (not to take away from Elora! She explained it pretty well!)

When I finished BMT back in 1998, my group knew a few days in advance that we would be on the first bus out which was at 0100 and we shipped out in blues. Slept all the way to tech school and it was a 20 year blast after that. Happily retired now. It goes fast.

There isn’t an Airman’s Week anymore. When I graduated, I left the Sunday night after graduation. There’s different times throughout the night people leave, depending on how far the drive is. (For example, I went to Keesler so we left around 10 pm Sunday night, people who were going to Goodfellow around 2, etc) For us, no one flew. We all drove on a bus, unless you went super far away, around 12 hours or more. ❤️❤️

My MTIs let us tell our parents to bring stuff while they visited at BMT and we just had to shove it in our civilian bags. I had my parents bring my Makeup ans laptop. I wrote my mother a VERY detailed list of each makeup item i needed name brand and color and everything 😂

Natasha Jaundoo you return back to your hometown to work with the recruiter and basically “shadow them” making phone calls and texts to people you know asking if their interested etc. You work with them as a normal job including normal hours and then go back to your house or where ever you live to sleep and carry on, I believe you have the weekends off. Or whenever your recruiter has off you do as well. Basically just shadowing a recruiter for two weeks, but a great excuse to get you home and to see friends and family. The Air Force will not pay for your ticket to your hometown but will refund you your tickets money from your hometown to your new duty station. Hope I helped❤️

It doesn’t have to be hometown. You can do rap anywhere you want to. You don’t get paid housing or food allowance wherever you go so that will be on you.

no it’s super easy to make friends even if you go in saying you’ll keep you head down and not talk to anyone. have so many friends i still talk to that i was in basic with. and when you guys go your separate ways you just keep in touch over social media.. FT. and then make some new friends. and find out that everyone knows each other through some weird way. lol the air force is small.

That’s 100 percent true. You can live off base with them and ghost the dorms but you will not be given any housing or food allowance for living off base until married or until 3 years comes around

reservists do no have a “first duty station” this is only for active members. Active members are placed wherever the government says they are to go. For reservists, the unit you joined at is the place you go when your weekend and yearly duty comes.

They are still using ABU's, OCP's will be issued to new airmen starting BMT in October of this year (if I remember correctly)

My MTIs said starting October they’ll be issuing 2 sets of ABUs and 2 sets of OCPs, and then slowly making the transition to only issuing OCPs, but tech schools will most likely still make you wear the ABUs during the duty day because we have to be uniform and not everyone will have OCPs until 2020

you can have them send a laptop to you at tech school. or even have them bring it to you during graduation. my mtis let us put stuff our parents brought in our locked away bags. my tech school was 5 months and i knew someone who had their whole desktop computer shipped to them.

I went to a recruiter today and he said I would have to gain 10lbs before going any further. When I asked for some tips he said he didn't have any and that when he smells fried chicken he gains weight and laughed. There is no way I can gain 10lbs it seems like. What do you suggest?

Omg! Silly recruiter. Is there a store that sells supplements? We have several in our area. One of them is called complete nutrition. Maybe you can talk to them to see what advice they can give you to gain weight. I gain weight easily. I lost 20 but gained some of it back cause I was slacking.

You only get your phone about 3 times to make a quick 10 minute phone call the whole time you are at BMT. It is only calling and not texting and Instagram or snap chatting or facetiming. If you are there for a holiday you will either get extra time on one of the calls that are scheduled or you will get an extra 10 minutes some other day. You do not get it back until right before you ship off for tech school

The AF has a program where they’ll pay for your nursing school and it allows you to start as enlisted and come back as an officer. But of course, there’s a lot of qualifications to take part in that

Éva Scallan It is called the NECP if you want to do more research. No. There are many requirements some being you must be active duty, you have to have 60 credits of nursing pre reqs and get accepted into a nursing school. You can get those credits while on active duty or before. Some things to think about, there is no guarantee or anything that you help you get a medical job upon enlisting. So while you are working on your schooling you may not being in a medical job. Also, the acceptance rate is extremely low. Don’t enlist solely because of the program. It is not likely to get accepted. many people try even up to 10 years to get accepted.

Does anybody know anything about single moms and when their kid can come live w/ them? I know they have to wait to finsih basic. Some say once youre at tech school they can come.??

it depends of how long your tech school is, I think if its longer than 30 days your family can leave with you but always make sure but I'm in the same boat single mom planning on joining
