Very nice. I have a blaze king 40 and heat about 6 months out of the year. We burn seasoned firewood mostly ash oak and locust. I have found that once you find the sweet spot make a mark on the dial one for mild temps and one for colder weather 99% of the time we run on those two marks. Two things I would change would be a dial with feed back and witness marks, telling someone not familiar with the stove (ie when on trips etc.) is a pain. Something needs to be addressed with the smoking of the glass. At least be honest about it. If you pay extra (which it is) for viewing glass that will largely stay smoked up ( mostly 100%, and before the keyboard warriors step in I’ve talked with multiple people, it’s a problem everyone has, if they don’t they are liars lol) we heat exclusively with this stove 2800 square feet. It’s a great stove in my opinion even with the two things I find mildly annoying. Thanks for taking the time to share!

when reloading your stove let it on high for 30 minutes then adjust your stat. it will help clean the glass. I have a king 40 and been using it for 8 years. the glass stays pretty good. I run mine on 2 most of the times i live in the laurel mountains of pa and this wood burner is great only reload every 12 hours. I just installed a new steel cat this fall, and it gets hotter quicker and stays hotter longer than the ceramic did. My stove is old got it of facebook for 500 bucks! No wood stove will keep the glass clean all season if you damper them down. Also make sure you would is really well seasoned, that really helps. I run mine from oct to April. I recommend this stove over all others. I grew up with wood burners and this is the cats rear end!

We currently have a Pacific Energy super 27 and it's an excellent wood stove but there are days we have to let it go out because it's simply too warm outside to run the stove. We often see temps hover around 0°c and while that's certainly cold enough to require heat in our modern home, it's simply too warm to run the Pacific energy super 27, even on its lowest setting. Ultimately, I end up in the 24°c home with the windows open so I can breath. I was kind of hoping that a blaze King sirocco 30.2 will be the right stove for us in that we can turn it way down on those warmer days and get extended burn times instead of being too warm and throwing the additional heat out the window. Weve got 20 feet of exterior prefab chimney + 4 feet of vertical double wall flue pipe. I think we are in good shape for the Blaze King.

Blaze king is a great stove but one thing they don’t pre warn you about is that depending on how cold it gets in your area you may have condensation problems in the chimney. I ran a princess 32 for a season here in northern Ontario and couldn’t stop the condensation from running out of the chimney. I managed to catch over 20gal of water once I figured out where it was coming from. My chimney had a 4ft horizontal run before going into a Masonary chimney. I think you would need a straight up insulated chimney for the stove to work in my area. Unfortunately a straight up chimney isn’t an option for me
@cameroncontractingltd
@cameroncontractingltd 8 ай бұрын
To bad! Yes, with a blazeking you want ideal flue conditions. Catalytic stoves are way more temperamental with draft and any horizontals are less than ideal. The flue temperature in catalytic stoves are significantly lower than a traditional stove

I have a rancher that is 1350 sf with 500 sf finished basement where I’d like to put a wood stove. It has a open stairway to the upstairs. Has a masonry chimney with a 6 inch insulated liner. Total 17 feet tall. Was wondering if the princess 32 would be a good stove for this house the up stairs is a open floor plan. Bedrooms we keep cool .

Absolutely, sounds pretty plug and play, Would heat the house with ease by the sounds of it, do you have 24" vertical before any angles into the insulated chimney? Would be measured from the deck of the princess. Here is a link to the clearances. Also can get a smaller base need be. www.blazeking.com/products/princess-classic/

Thanks for the video. I have a princess 32. I am still learning it. I put 5 Pen marks on the dial to keep reference of how hot to get the stove. Do you or anyone monitor temperatures? As in, is 500 degrees f too hot for this stove? or is 300 f - 450 f a best operation for this stove. Also on the catalyst temperature guage, can it get too hot? Any feed back will be appreciated
@cameroncontractingltd
@cameroncontractingltd 8 ай бұрын
I don't monitor it for say, I have a fall and spring setting for longer burn times and lower temperatures and a winter setting. Other than that I only control the thermostat to do a high temp burn a couple times a week to clear the glass firebox and chimney, Or if I let the fire die down to much I'll crank it to max if it still in the operating zone to fire it back up hot! The active zone starts at 500 degrees on the thermometer. So you'll be operating in excess off 500 degrees minimum to keep the stove in operating temperature. Keep in mind when your in that zone your heat is in that firebox and not the flue as flue temps are significantly lower in a catalyst Woodstove. Hope this helps. If you have any questions about your stove don't hesitate to call us or your local blazeking dealer! All the best

it will for sure smoke and smell for the first several hour of at temp burning. but should not persist more than that, I would suggest something else is going on if after 10 fires your still smelling it.

I wonder what happens if you burn not perfect seasoned wood. up here in the North East seasoned dry firewood I buy is always not as seasoned as people say. Im not saying GREEN. im saying its not always perfect dry. I think this will cause issues with this magic box getting 50 hour burn times. and at 6000 bucks im just not confident. A regular stove works no matter what nothing really can fail other then it not being cleaned correctly.
@cameroncontractingltd
@cameroncontractingltd 8 ай бұрын
Very good point to bring up. You will want to have higher standards in wood you burn. I have my wood prepared at least 1 full year in my wood shed before burning. I also have a rack in my house next to my stove to bring the moisture content down even more prior to burning. Burning unseasoned wood will give you an inefficient burn in time as the particulates will coat the catalyst. requiring more cleaning and maintenance. you could counteract this a bit by burning hotter but certainly wouldn't recommend it on a long term basis. just need to be a season ahead. To get Ferrari performance you need to treat it like a Ferrari. appreciate the commen!
@nickguthrie9309

Get a moisture meter. NO excuses, 'Seasoned' does not imply dry. GET the meter and be sure to get 20% or less dryness before burning.@@cameroncontractingltd

Kuma wood stoves may disagree. I think Woodstock may be up there as well. Anyways that catalyst will degrade over time and the efficiency will fall.

6 - 10-year warranty on Blaze King combustor on BK stoves. I just installed mine a few weeks ago and am still in "shoulder season" where its not really cold enough to burn hot fires. I'm getting 30 hrs burns (I have the Ashford 30) easily and house is always warm. What an improvement over my old Dover coal/wood stove.

Without a doubt they can burn 30+ hours, I had one. The catalyst manufacture states cat life at 10-12,000 hours. For me burning 24/7 7 months of the year that equates to a cat replacement every two seasons. At $300 a pop it’s just not worth it to me.

My two cents . . . I love burning wood in my woodstove, but efficiency is sort of a BS number for a wood stove. It relates to how efficiently the wood is burned (BTUs released/BTUs potential). This has nothing to do with how much of the heat goes into your house and how much goes up the chimney. But a highly efficient woodstove will get you a big tax break, at least in 2023. Efficiency is generally useless but can be calculated fairly reliably in a laboratory setting, which is why it is promoted by manufacturers.
@pahillbillypappysteve2357
@pahillbillypappysteve2357 6 ай бұрын
you will burn less wood with a catalectic stove so to me that's called efficiency. less wood means less work, also less times fixing the fire. 👍👍 👍
@cameroncontractingltd
@cameroncontractingltd 6 ай бұрын
the catalytic stoves have long burn times because of the air control, the heat is in the stove or cat, way less in the chimney like conventional wood stoves or secondary burn stoves. epa standards are relating to particulate matter exhausted out of the chimney. the catalytic stoves or secondary burn is how this is achieved essentially re-burning the exhaust gasses to reduce particulates. when I refer to efficancy I am strictly referring to burning significantly less wood. appreciate the input.

Depending on comparables, I was about 1200 more to goto blazeking my first year I burnt 2.5-3 cords less wood for the same heating. THe fire didn't turn off either. My previous stove would often be out or nearly out by the time I got up in the morning. Requiring time and effort to restart, If I wanted to sleep in. My blazeking I'm easily 16-20 hrs with full winter burn times so that's never a problem. The wood savings alone at retail I saved 900 in wood my first burning season so ide say it's worth it with just that. But the time and effort required in a traditional fire made the switch an easy choice for me saves several hours or work per month. Less hauling chopping cleaning restarting and no cold mornings. I would pay for that convenience anyday.

@@cameroncontractingltd we have a wood shed out there that holds just about five chords of wood and we barely make it through winter. If I can reduce the amount of would I burn and thereby reduced the amount of would I have to cut, split and stack; I'm cool with the extra cost. Plus I won't have to run downstairs at 6 am to catch the fire before it completely goes out.
