Great video. As a Service Officer I highly recommend to the veterans I am working with to generate a personal statement talking about several of the conditions that they have and how they impact their daily life negatively. That provides a formal submission from the patient and it's also something they can use for reference in the exam itself.

Great video, Leah! In February I got service connected for depression secondary to SC knee injury from 1994. I had a C&P exam with a VA doctor in January (not a contractor). He made up his mind before the exam that I would get 50% level even though I had documented SI and examples of problems that coincide with the 70% rating. I filed for a HLR and the DRO sent it back to the regional office and they doubled down on their decision even though it was wrong. Not sure if you guys can help or not. I've seen examples similar to mine that went to veteran court of appeals, even the Secretary Donough thought the VBA judge was wrong. Took couple years to get the veteran from 50 to 70. It's so messed up.

If the VA is already treating you with medication and the symptoms are lessened because of the medication, how does that affect the C&P?
@prestigeveteranmedical2 ай бұрын
its simply based upon the symptoms you are experiencing so if your medications are helping that is great and you will evaluated based upon your level of impairment

Have you heard of "biotemperment" with regards to depression treatment? I.e. a temperment of Overcontrol versus a biotemperment of undercontrol. The VA only offers treatments from the perspective of undercontrolled biotemperment, so veterans with a biotemperment of overcontrol do not benefit from the treatments offered by the VA.

@@prestigeveteranmedical If you want more information I can scan and email you the complete argument which provided in a textbook on a new type of therapy called "Radically Open DBT", which was created to treat disorders of overcontrol, given that the conventional form of DBT only makes disorders of overcontrol worse. Its a 400 page book but there's about 20 pages that summarize the complete argument.

I'm currently at 80 percent for depression/anxiety but since its gotten worse over the past 2 years I have claimed for an increase. I have my C&P exam later this week for the increase. Will my C&P exam be just like the first one, or what can I expect? I'm expecting the examiner to just ask me questions a lot like the first one, but I am just nervous about not giving enough information or doing something wrong, so I am looking up anything I can.
