Any society that expects extremely ill or terminal people to work, is disgraceful. There should be a global network to fully support anyone in this real situation. Sending you strength and prayers 🙏 ❤.

You’re a kind and beautiful soul I’m so happy to have found your channel. I’ve been walking two medical journeys for two years with two family members. Relatability matters. Thank you

I live in Philly also. I hope I never get a chronic illness. I'm 60 and have no health issues so far which is good since I haven't had health insurance in years. Scary is right. You are so smart and strong

Thank you for starting this channel! My sister in law has the same cancer, and its really helpful. She also has the BRAC2 mutation, so seeing you get through this is so reassuring. Good luck with your treatment!

Hope you're still doing well (as possible). While you're going through some tremendous circumstances, it's good to know that you have a husband to be at your side. Also, that if worse comes to worst you have family you can turn to. I know selling your house and living with relatives isn't high on anyone's list, but at least there is that option. I'll be praying for you.

I'm sorry that you're suffering, Megan and that your suffering is compounded by crippling financial concerns. Our (USA) country's lack of universal healthcare is criminal. I think the salary and healthcare benefits that out members of Congress enjoy should be suspended/cut off until every American has that same (or better) complete health, prescription and dental coverage. I wish there were answers I could suggest.

Gail was a housekeeper, she quit a few days after being diagnosed. My brother and I helped her with appointments and house cleaning ect. My other sister in law Nilda was a big support and we helped each other through all of it. Shockingly my beautiful sis Nilda died very suddenly 6 weeks after Gail died. I am still in shock. I lost them both 6 weeks apart. I'm trying to recover from all the trauma of it all. I'm trying.... I made a yourube channel to help me relax a little it's helping me. I hope you stay healthy and strong for a long long time. I made a video for Gail too to help me

You should use your paid sick leave, then short term disability, etc., until you then apply for social security disability. Your annual social security statement, available on the internet ssa.gov, tells you how much your monthly benefit would be if you had to use it right now. If you have credit card debt that you are paying any interest on, before terminating employment, take out a home equity loan, so your interest is minimal. Your diagnosis will fast-track the ss disability claim. Collecting ss disability does not mean you can’t earn ANY money. The maximum monthly used to be around $1,200. Employers are crying for people right now! You could part-time it anywhere! Not working means minimal gas cost, car ins., and maintenance on your car. Your marketplace insurance premium goes way, way down once you’re not working-it’s income based. You have a two bedroom house for only you and your husband? Bite the bullet and rent out the second bedroom. Downsize (sell) all the excess stuff in your house on Craigslist, eBay…etc. All I’m essentially saying is it really CAN be done. What’s the worst case scenario? You end up filing bankruptcy because of unpaid medical bills that pile up while you’re waiting for all the cards to play out. So, you keep your house and what’s in it, and your credit score is fine in a year, because you’ve wiped out your debt. Once you’re unemployed, you get a deferment on your student loan. There’s no limit on how long you can stay in a deferment. Your husband changes to an income-based student loan payment plan, which goes way down if you’ve been Married Filing Jointly. Your income tax bill goes way down if you’re not working. It CAN be done. Don’t look at what your bills are NOW, because once you’re on disability with only partial employment, those bills go way down. And the disability isn’t taxable. Just do it. Take the plunge. Make the decision, do it, then take it one step at a time. Remember, life doesn’t end if you declare bankruptcy. Cancer can kill you. Debt can’t. Your health, physical AND mental come first!!!!!
