Hello. I watched all 4 of these videos, they are explained really well, but I have a question. I'm wanting to become a paramedic/ambulance technician in Scotland, and there are some differences in rules. One of them includes that as of now, there is no way to become a paramedic without going to university, you can only become a technician with the ambulance service route. I think I will choose the ambulance service route, should I mind about being either a paramedic or technician? (By the way I heard that Scotland is working on a way to bridge the gap between being a technician and paramedic without university)

Hi sorry about the very late reply - it all depends on if you will be happy being a tech or would you want to upskill to a paramedic. The same applies in a England you have to go to university to become a paramedic. In England some of the Ambulance services have student paramedic programmes which takes you through the stages from zero to paramedic in around 3 years and includes the university aspects so if it’s feasible for you check them out 👍🏼

Hi ayaz . Love your vids man 🤙 I am not a uk or eu citizen, but is there a way for me to do the ambulance service route ? I had a bachelors degree but isnt related to medical field, tho i had been a volunteer and had several bls training and had 3 yrs of experience working as a frst aid response team in an ambulance in my towns rescue services. I really love to go to uk and take my dream there. Hope you could help man. Thanks. 🙏

Hi mate, it's always a difficult answer to give when it comes to overseas people who want to do it over here, as there's too many variables and individual requirements which are country dependent and also right to work etc, so unfortunately I can't help with your query my apologies

Hi my daughter wants to become a paramedic and next year wants to go into an apprenticeship through the ambulance service. She has been watching these videos of yours and has a question for you. If you have to get you c1 licence at eighteen and your drivers at 17 would she still be able to do the apprenticeship or will she have to wait a few years?

Apprenticeships will need you to have at least a provisional C1 at the time you apply, and then will need to have a completed C1 before going out on the road. After the initial 12 -16 weeks AAP course, because you will need to have a C1 to do the CERAD blue light driver training. Hope this helps 👍🏽

@@gemsi1983 she will need an A-level to be considered if she doesn’t have one I recommend she focuses on that and gaining experience in health care before applying will help with application

In the videos it's explained the last phases of the student paramedic programme consist of University blocks, it has recently changed and specific to each trust, especially now that most trusts are changing their programmes so that you finish with a full BSc degree rather than the diploma. Enquire with your localcbulance service or the student paramedic programme you would like to join

I am struggling to find a student paramedic job. I’m not sure if I’m looking in the wrong places but it seems as if they are rare to come across. What would the salary of an entry level paramedic be? Also, how can a paramedic move into more advanced roles such as an air ambulance paramedic?

Start at band 5 (NHS AGENDA FOR CHANGE) going up to band 6 after 2 years and increasing incrementally as you go on, read up the banding systems

And you can join the air ambulance as a critical care paramedic but it's highly highly competitive and requires a masters in critical care

Any age is a good age imo, we have many students coming through who are even in their late 40's. Of course you have to take personal circumstances into account

What is an Emergency Care Assistant? Is it like a trainee Technician?

An emergency care assistant, is less qualified than a technician. They can drive on blue lights, however can only carry out basic obs and have less training than a technician (EMT)
