i went to 2 cabinet stores and the lower cost cabinets they offer are a mix of wood and mdf. they say everything you see on the cabinets such as door fronts, drawer fronts or frames are wood but the inside shelving where u don’t see are mdf. according to both of these stores, the mdf qualities are a lot better than what it used to be and they say it’s almost as good as plywood. what do you think?

Yes, I think that's true. MDF is higher quality than it used to be. The ones I choose for my kitchen are MDF on the insides.
