Hi. My research says that LTD is a private insurance benefit. PWD is a social insurance benefit.

PWD is a category of social assistance that is provided to designated qualifying individuals to provide income support. It is a provincial assistance program in British Columbia, however, there are similar types of programs in other provinces in Canada. LTD (long-term disability) is a privately held and administered insurance policy meant to give income to individuals dealing with a disability through their insurance provider.
