You guys asked for it. Here it is, my pack-list. This one is long, yet I wanted to be thorough.

This is really well done, and the information is sooooooooo on the mark. The park service should make this mandatory to watch!

A headlamp is a good suggestion for staying overnight in a desert camp but the limitation is to look down all the times to get enough light. I prefer a larger flash light linked to my waist belt.

I also like to pack several different types of protein bars which include cashews, dried cherries, almonds, pecans, blueberries, vanilla and so forth. During any trip, I like to bring probiotics and omega 3 fatty acids with me. A filtered bottle, one thermal flask to hold my instant organic coffee.

Hiking with a tour guide in a group following the tour mates closely can prevent from going astray. Many protein bars have decent amount of sodium. Add a pinch of salt in a bottle of water. Besides carrying my own filtered water bottle for filling water stream. I would like to buy a bottle of mineral water from stores or my own hotel. It could be pricey but it is still worth it.

I have watched countless videos you have done. I love them. I was thrilled one day I was walking out of the El Tovar I looked up and ha there you were. It had snowed the night before (late April) I would have loved to say Hi but didn't want to bother you. It was covidish and the guy at the door was kind of strict on people coming and going. Keep up the videos I love them. I love you voice.

When does the ice at the top of Bright Angel trail usually go away?
@GrandCanyonTV3 жыл бұрын
Usually by end of April / May it has melted away. Because it's in the shade and it gets so compacted from hikers/mules it can hang around. Also there is typically a final snowfall day in May every year.

Thank you so much! We did the hike to three mile rest house two November's ago. Been getting in shape, I want to make it to Indian Garden this spring. 😊

When we lived in Arizona, my wife and I frequently hiked down to "Phantom" Ranch on Halloween. (We know all of the "canyon ghost stories" by heart ...) The fall is a very favorable time of year to do this hike.

I don’t like to wear shorts. I prefer jeans or leggings to protect my legs from scratches from grasses, cacti or any plants as well as mosquitoe bites. I wear shorts only in the places like beach town, lake shore, island and so forth, No matter how hot the weather is, my legs can stand the heat from the sun because I don’t have hairs on my legs.

good luck, those aren’t micro spikes. Those are for walking on a flat icy streets and parking lots. And that rubber will probably break in on you. Not trying be a negative poster, but you won’t get the support you nerd from those.
@GrandCanyonTV3 жыл бұрын
I'd agree heavier chained spike options will likely last longer. My fancy is having something that can easily be removed. Every time I’ve hiked Grand Canyon in the winter, I find there can be ice for 30mins, then you’re on rock and dirt for 20mins, then back to ice. In my opinion it's great to have something not so spiky because of the amount of rock and/or amount of times removing them for your footwear. Good to note that people would be safer with a stronger option to ensure grip on the ice. I will clarify that I have hiked the Canyon in these for 4 years without the rubber splitting or me slipping while wearing these.

Two specific suggestions: (1) No, you don't need that "orange trowel." (2) GOOKINAIDE! An electrolyte replacement powder that goes in every, or every other, canteen of water. The first time I hiked down, my muscles were so "locked up" that I didn't know if I could negotiate the four steps into the Phantom Ranch dining hall. Once I learned about this, these problems were a thing of the past.
