Best video i have watched in years to give inspiration. Living in Scotland we get a lot of "dull damp nothingness" Today is another of those days, you have however inspired me to get off my backside and get out and do something. Thank you...

I’m currently in Skye looking out on grey nothingness and horizontal rain. You can go to an epic landscape and it can be swathed in cloud and rain. I now feel I can go out and find something to shoot. Thank you for the inspiration and enthusiasm!

Have fun - I hope you get some nice shots. I will never forget my trip to Elgol in Dec 2021 - the cloud was so low and thick, there was zero visibility of the Cuillin Mountains. I recall taking a couple of long exposures of the rocks that stand some ten metres off the beach. But still a wonderful and atmospheric place. I wish I was there.

These are the reasons I generally do not hesitate to go shoot in nasty conditions, for often one can find an entirely different subject range when embracing the conditions that have been dealt. Here in western North Dakota and eastern Montana, subjects often include old abandoned structures (the semi-arid climate lends to preservation of many of these old homesteads or grain elevators) or old farm implements that lend themselves well to black and white treatment or even long exposures in fog, rain or snow. Down in Wyoming, I have shot Devils Tower numerous times in every weather condition and some of my most dramatic images were days when the Tower was cloaked in fog. Living here with months of adverse weather during the long winters (it is still brown and snowy here when the rest of the US is already mowing grass lol) has taught me to think outside the usual box since I can't hibernate for the seven months of brown. Great points here in this video!

Nice one Tom, for the inspiration! I shall be out with my camera this weekend!… Just a thought or perhaps an idea for a future video… is the opposite to today’s video… instead of high key and light, what about low key and no light… ie like a star scape from a landscape location, you know get some stars and night scapes… it’d be interesting to see your take on it, applying your thoughts and style to it… I think it would work well with some snow covered mountains so they stand out or perhaps as well a calm lake for a reflection. Just a thought anyway and keep up the good work, love ya videos! 👍🏻 Matt
