@@unixtreme Square Enix is following the same recipe they've been for the longest time. This time around the fault lies within the plugin community. The community decided to dish out content that puts actual paid bots to shame and they are completely free. From gatherbuddy and artisan to some really unhinged undercutting plugins, it has never been this easy to automate everything.

I respect and appreciate everyone that goes through the monotony of crafting en masse pots, food, and armor and gathering the requisite materials for said crafts but between that monotony and the frustration of dealing with the volatility of those items' market board status, it make me prefer turning to slower selling but more static-ly priced items. I've found great success with Turali Bicolor Gemstone Vouchers and various Treasure Map drops. The vouchers are especially great because they are kinda undercut-proof. I recently sold a 40 stack for 250k each while there were smaller stacks of 1-5 each going for

Another idea if I can suggest is sungilt aethersand. It's used for raid food and you can gather it easily with fishing either horned frogs in Yak T'el or spearfishing for sunlit prism fish in the NE lake there as well. On my server they sell for about 1350 each, and it's nice to have another item to sell that isn't just food or tinctures.

Readily accessible, FREE add-ons that integrate on top of already popular launcher that automate all of retainer stuff, all of crafting stuff that got updated on week 2 of expansion might be key to this conundrum. Miqobot being down for all of DT has affected gathering a bit but not nearly enough since tools for manipulating retainers and crafting are already insanely powerful.

Oh so finally the market apocalypse hit NA too haha. I made about 2-3 mil off combat materias but had to stop coz i had to pentameld my own gear now. Housing items are also frighteningly cheap coz there's no new wards on the active worlds, hence no new house owners to make money off. Hoping people start dropping off soon or at least housing wards expand so that we can sell stuff like lofts and flooring mats again

Had this twintop table that was nicely selling for almost 3 million, then all it took was someone undercutting by 1000 each time and eventually it tanked down to under one million from other undercutters. This will help recoup some of the lost gil lol

My strategy for selling is to price everything just above the lowwest price. If I need to buy or compete with low cost high quantities, I sell lower quanties at a higher price, where the overall price is lower for someone not wanting to stock up. I try not to let competion on the MB get to me and settle on, 'it is what it is'. By searching by quantity and find zero on hand with a high frequency, there always seems to be something to make gil on. It just takes a little extra work. Thank you Zane for all your contributions. Oh yeah, I have been making record gil by leveling jobs with fates. Can you say, 'gemstone vouchers'?

I've done that before in prior expansions but had no idea how many would be playing in DT. I could not have really foreseen it, but I definitely could have done more to boost my return, for sure.

1. Those weeks headstart on timed nodes caused a flood when people unloaded them on the MB 2. Everyone leveling thru fates & doing hunt trains not only tanked gemstone mats, but battle materia as well 3. Not needing to be fully penta melded lowered the barrier of entry for savage crafting. The issue here is that experienced sellers know when savage drops, you are racing the bots. You only have a few days before their stuff hits the MB and THAT'S when you just price to cut & run. People who list Jack all year round popped up listing items at week 2 or 3 prices for stuff on day 1. It was ridiculous. 4. People don't want to talk about it, but it's not just bots and RMT players that ruin economies. It's regular players using plug ins that automate mass crafting. That's how you end up with bis food & pots at chump change prices in less than a day. I get the convenience they offer, but it's evident those types of plug ins upset the balance of the game. These are just my observations. If you're a crafter main, you know how to make millions regardless. It's just a little annoying cuz we look forward to savage patches. 😮‍💨

1: This pretty much always happens, but with more players than ever before it was going to hurt more than before. This was also just the best way to spiritbond for gathering materia; run around the entirety of Endwalker and Dawntrail to hit legendary nodes while spending GP on Dawntrail collectables. 2: This was already happening in Endwalker but changes in Dawntrail made Fates even more appealing than ever. Turali Bi-Colored Gemstone Vouchers effectively prop the Fate Farming method of leveling. And there are years of Farm/Patch Prep videos saying "do fates to get max rank to buy vouchers to sell, till then you can sell the crafting mats" and "hunt trains are far and away the best method to farm materia, earn tomestones, and farming nuts which make passive gil on the side". None of that has changed in Dawntrail. 3: You weren't necessarily ever required to be fully pentamelded to make items that come out in the Savage patch, but it was more necessary in the past because skills were weaker and there were just less accessible or good resources for "budget" and "minimum stat" crafting. Experienced sellers are typically not even selling on market boards for the first few days. They set up a PF shop advertisement for full sets of gear with a materia meld option (materia typically not provided) and sell that way through made-to-order. The ones playing the market board are the average Joe's who think "I can make some quick money selling on the board" and because there are a lot of people thinking that it starts the trend of items getting cheaper and cheaper till 1 person does a bad undercut and suddenly the bad bots and players who don't know any better undercut based on the new badly undercut price. 4: You don't even need a plug-in to automate crafting. A simple auto-clicker/keyboard macro can do the same thing. Too many people have bought into the idea of "crafting makes a ton of gil" so there are people who feel compelled or forced to do it, especially if they've been broke for extended periods of time. In turn the gathering base needs to adapt to keep up with the demands of crafters but there is just not enough of them to fulfill the demand strictly because of time needed to gather plus the yield. In terms of gathering it does turn more towards gathering bots to save on time and sanity even if the actual bot itself is less efficient at doing the actual gathering and pathing. So in my opinion here, it's people being stupid about undercutting and stack dumping more so than bots/plug-ins that are fully ruining the economy. Both are a problem, but 1 made the conscious decision to undercut in a stupid way and the other is just doing what it was told to do, maybe told by someone who undercuts in a stupid way as well. Is it garbage? Yes. But without major intervention from the development team in the form of a market board overhaul/rework we just have to deal with it.

An easy fix is doing stuff like the ishgard expert recipe, that u can’t us macro’s or bots. So it gets harder less people do it while the demand is still there and prices increases. Like the battle content in Ew they made crafting to easy and convenient imo. I really hope the new doh/dol content will be the savages/ultimates of crafting and gathering 🤞

Components or gathering stuff seem to be the way, too many people craft the same stuff and you can see it at the lvl 100 and 2 stars gear. At this point I just craft for fun and for myself and friends, while I just work on setting up a submarine fleet for treasure instead.

Because I sell short stacks a lot, and find myself buying them a lot as well. Those of us who don't have 760 million on hand can't always buy 99 stacks... At this time im just topping off stuff in my retainers , cheap mass buy set aside for later (got them ordered by crafter ^^) I mainly do eureka or quest items atm also minions are an option for me . Since i enjoy deep dugeons and stuff too i also looked into it more for the time being 🤔 before i did bicolor gem stones because i needed to level and like fates but it dropped a lot so i stopped , crystals werent an option for me at the time because i was still leveling crafters so i didnt wanted to drain my resources, also spiritbonding. Marketboard collappsed so i also stopped selling mats for scrips there was just no point anymore even tho i like gathering. 😅

I'm gonna be real if crafting was like ARR/Heavensward crafting (it being actually hard to HQ and actually having a brain on what the actions do) then all the crafting macros that currently exist wouldn't be around. It kind of makes me sad that so many of them exist... because crafting was actually enjoyable back then. Now? Here, let me press 1 or 2 buttons to get 100% quality... I miss the old days of crafting... lol

That's what I been doing lately since I don't use them as much. made about 3 mil or so from growing Fire, Wind and Lightning I think. (Those were the 3 most expensive on Hyperion from what I saw)

I never understood people who put multiple hits on all their retainers, flooding the market. That means ALL your listings will have to be sold before the price can go up again - but it's very easy for it to go down. Yeah, I get it - you just want to list them and forget about it and not miss out on any sales. But you're ruining your own profits and looking like a jackass in the process. List 3 hits, let them sell. If some others sell in the meantime after your 3 sold? Great! Someone else is making money and the price is increasing.
