Thanks for sharing! Almost all of the weddings I have attended are in Andalusia so it’s likely there are some differences in reception styles and gift amount as with the region you’ve mentioned. I know some family and close friends gift upwards of 500€, but in the last two years the most common gift amounts I’ve seen are €300-400€ per couple.

Yeah I have had two knee surgeries I live in Madrid and I have never worn high heel and have never felt underdressed (also I am from North Italy so I am quite taller then average Spanish women) I just wear some Mary Janes or ballets that are nice or some flat straps in the summer. I just add more jewelry and some nice bag and I also never worn this hair thing I just go to the hairdresser and do some nice bun or something with the braids (I had thought some flowers in the hair). P.S. This rules are kinda applicable to whole Europe (minus hats and that hair stuff, and well the gloves aren’t really a thing unless the ceremony is extra fancy)

Would high platform sandals be ok to a Spanish day wedding. The wedding takes place outside. I am worried about high heels sinking into the grassy ground
@KatesTravelTips2 жыл бұрын
Hello! If the wedding/reception is outside on grassy areas then that might be a good idea. I’ve also used “high heel savers” - I gave them as gifts at my wedding because the reception was in a plaza with cobblestones. Here’s an example m.es.aliexpress.com/item/1005003333638360.html

Hi, thanks for the tips great help. I have a wedding in September in Bilbao, is it appropriate to wear a full light beige linen suit? Im more concerned with the linen suit as I dont know if linen suits are appropriate for Spanish weddings. Thank you.
@KatesTravelTips7 ай бұрын
Hello! I have never see anyone wear a linen suit to a wedding here. 😅 I might check with the bride and groom on that one.

I have read your blog about this at least 10 times before finding this video. It is very helpful. I am going to a wedding in Barcelona in September, but I wanted to prepare in advance. In the US, weddings only last a few hours. The wedding I am attending starts at noon and is expected to end at 3 AM. Would that still be considered a day wedding? Also, are there any types of fabric that are considered tacky or not fashionable in Spain?
@KatesTravelTips2 жыл бұрын
Hello! If the ceremony is at noon that sounds like a day wedding to me! :)

So can I not wear a long dress for a day wedding? Also, here in nyc you dress to impress. I usually wear gowns to weddings, would that not be appropriate for a Spanish wedding. The women in the pictures you showed seemed to have it toned down lol thanks I’m just super unsure and I don’t want to disrespect anyone or stick out
@KatesTravelTips5 жыл бұрын
Hey Mel, you can wear a long dress to a day wedding. The main thing is to not wear accessories like a fascinator or pamela with a long dress. If you’re still not sure you can check if your outfit will be appropriate with the bride and groom. ;)

Paying between 75 and 100€ is not appropìate. The idea is not to cost any money to the couple who are starting a life together and they´ll have many expenditures to do that. Usually you have to pay at least the money it will cost the menu AND a fair quantity of money depending on how related you´re to the couple. Obviously no wedding menu will cost between 75 and 100€, that will be far more expensive as you saw in any spanish wedding.

This is true - I made the video 4 years ago and A LOT has changed since then. My husband and I usually give at least 150 - 200 EUR each now.
