Children love receiving your letters. A letter from their sponsor helps to build a special relationship and lets them know they are loved, valued and have a bright future.
They are an important part of Compassion Australia's holistic child development program, because your letters help a child's emotional and spiritual growth by:
- Building self-esteem
- Encouraging learning
- Nurturing dreams
- Providing a tangible expression of love
But how do your letters actually get to your sponsored child, and what should you write, anyway? This video explores the ins and outs of how to write and what to include in your letters. It also follows a letter's journey from your home to its final destination of your sponsored child's hands.
Update:
In order to speed up the letter delivery process, Compassion Australia's letter process now involves:
- Digitally scanning letters received from sponsors
- Sending them electronically to and from your sponsored child’s country office
- Printing them locally for delivery

I'm so excited to start writing letters! I just sponsored a little boy in Nicaragua two days ago and I'm already starting my first letter. And since I kind of (that's a big kind of) speak spanish I thought I'd take a whack at writing in little Andrew's native language. Pero my espanol no esta bien y mi professora de espanol en escula esta ayudame (But my spanish isn't very good so my spanish teacher is helping me :)
