EA customer support even agreed that it was a false positive and gifted me back my entire games collection on a new account, but stated that it was beyond their control. But it will exist only on that server unless the databases in different regions are syncronised with it, which might take some time and you might wont see those comments until the process is done

I hate the idea of anti-cheating software running on my computer. I'm not defending cheaters, but I don't think that I should be required to show a gaming company everything I am running on my computer just to be allowed to play. If you want to stop cheating, process the game on the server and don't trust anything a client sends except user input. As far as modified libraries go, just calculate a few MD5 hashes and verify that a client's game is unmodified before you let them play. The game server should never ask one player for the locations of other players, ever. If you're playing a multiplayer game and a hacker is capable of controlling other players' XYZ coordinates, you're playing a poorly coded game.
@rompevuevitos2226 жыл бұрын
Most anti-cheat software only checks for specific programs or programs who are "hooked" to the game, but not really what you're running as a whole
@SlickSloth6 жыл бұрын
You got so much stuff wrong here it's hurting me. First of all, not every anti-cheat system is intrusive and checks your whole pc. Then about the "user input": I'll take cs:go as an example here. When you use an aimbot the most common way for aimbots to work is to manipulate your mouse angle in the system memory to lock on to the enemy (pretty simpllified but I think you get what I mean). That is indistinguishable for the game client and the server and is therefore treated as "user input". About the location of other players: the game server doesn't ask for the location of other players but more so shares the other players location, because in order to be able to see somebody on your client your client needs info on where this other player is located. (referring to cs:go again) The client doesn't share that incoming location data with you directly but when a cheat (wallhack) is injected, that cheat will grab that location data and create kind of an overlay on the game, basically the cheats put on xray goggles for you. By that you can't only see other players but also "remove" the sight blocking entity of a wall. If you have any questions regarding cheats or anti-cheat systems, feel free to ask and I'll do my best to answer.

@@SlickSloth What exactly is wrong about what I said? Please quote me directly. Break apart each sentence you think is incorrect, and I'll happily agree or disagree with you, but I don't recall mentioning anything about aim bots or making the claim that *every* anti-cheat system is "intrusive".

A few other invaders and myself eventually whittled the enemies down and managed to kill the Host, but I’m pretty sure he was actually trying to give us a fair chance at winning. I used to be a server admin for a clan in Counter Strike Source. Part of the "job" is that we would have to observe players suspected of cheating, usually this meant someone within the server messaged an admin to join if one was not already present. Once we determined if they were in fact cheating we would issue a temp ban and then send footage to our own anti cheat website where higher up members would review it. Often times a cheat in that game was hard to detect, and the process was a manual time consuming nightmare. However, there sometimes were really obvious wall hackers that could trace a guy running through another room before shooting him in a doorway. I once met a cheater on Dying Light The Following. (This was around the time Dying Light was still mildly popular) The person never said anything the entire play session. For most of the session I followed him around in my buggy and eventually this turned into a bit of a race without a defined finish area. I eventually passed him, and when I did he stopped dead in his tracks and didn’t move a muscle for a solid minute. I then when over to him to investigate. I hoped out of my vehicle and the second I was able to move my character my buggy’s marker went from 1m to 9999m. My buggy was moved so far away that the map could no longer register its marker. A minute later this person started driving again. So I ran my way back to a safe house and respond my vehicle and started racing this guy again. This happened three times in this game. I eventually got bored of racing and went off to go chop up some zombies. Around this time it was starting to get dark and I had zombie invasion set to happen at night, and lone behold a person decides to invade my game. This hacker then turned it to day and which messed with the game making it so the night hunter was seen as a regular player. He could now no longer attack me, could kill zombies that were now hostile to him and go into safe zones without being harmed. Even though there are no emotes in this game I could tell that this invader was greatly confused in his current situation. Another hour passed and this hacker finally left my game and disappeared off the face of the earth. (I looked up his gamer tag afterwards and it said that there was no one with his gamer tag. I also asked the night hunter in that game if he knew the person and he said that he had no clue who this person was.)

One time I got called a cheater because I was using a class that was only unlocked at a high level but I was at a low level. Reason how that happen, I was banned for saying some "choice" words in the presence of a GM. After a month the banned was lifted and I started playing but realized they reset my level as punishment. So a began playing and saw that I can still use said class so I did.

This is a topic i see very much, In essence its very easy to catch a bot/hacker by looking at them through uses such as a GM. -Bots for instance will use code to move instead of registering as up key down they have something like input.moveup 1 or something completely obvious like that. people usually say "then why dont they hire gms to ban them" Imagine banning 1 bot at a time when you have 10k+ bots with 5-6 people. Thats why game companies usually wait until they have enough of their code to issue a more massive ban more efficiently(quicker and more accurate) with half of those 5-6 people doing other things.

Here is a way to end ALL aim bots. Developers can just put invisible heads all over the maps and if anyone rapid fires and lands too many shots on one of the decoys within a certain amount of time, they have to be cheating and would be instantly banned. here is an idea, instead of banning cheaters, why not force htem to buy the game again inorder to play, they have to pay full price with everything resetted and they get a special name plate that indicates cheater, any DLC they own the person has to rebuy
@PinkShades6 жыл бұрын
That's essentially what they do. They call them sequels and remasters.
@Tucher976 жыл бұрын
that is a great idea as I was mostly thinking of a way of "how can I put more money in my pockets" my idea is to lift the ban you must buy the game at full price, you have to buy everything again and work for everything again, but you are banned from leader boards however that we wont tell the cheaters mind you that is better than my other idea of "if you cheat you get blocked off from various content" such as like oh this special cosmetic or complete the story mode on the most ball buster difficulty which we warned you for not doign but we didnt think anyone do it, thus you get a blood stained cosmetic or some other special cosmetic
@roid15106 жыл бұрын
Tucher97 but, cheaters dont care... example csgo. Cheaters buy different accounts to cheat on and when they get banned they just rebuy everything This only works on games that cose 60 bucks and that price range isnt common anymore on onle competitive games.

and again, more money in my pockets, of course their actions won't count in the competitive league yet still some leagues are very very very toxic

Or have it were the cheaters get a stealth kick in the balls, where if they are caught cheating they are not told they were caught but instead make the gameplay infuriating for them and send them a false patch where it fucks them up in a way that makes hte game difficult for them and if they go on forums then it can say "hey I cheated"
@RavenWoodsDE5 жыл бұрын
It's about the competition character of many games that basically begs cheaters to do their thing. When it's not about stomping players who're better than you, the game may be plain boring and the cheater goes ahead and makes it worth their time.

I'll never understand the psychology of cheating. When you don't win on your own merits, you haven't really won. So what is the personal benefit? Everything you have in the game was not earned by you (so there can't be a feeling of accomplishment or success - unless these people actually delude themselves into believing otherwise).

I was a cheater before on Arma 2 DayZ mod, pretty big server at the time too. I was a person who was bored all the time and wanted to troll my friends. Eventually I ran into other cheaters and realized what I was doing was wrong. I ended up going to server admins that had no idea and telling them about my cheats and the cheaters I found. Turns out they didn't have the powers to detect stuff like invisible people and such but my cheats could. I ended up working with them as an admin who uses cheats to find cheaters. Ever since then I have been set on finding ways to detect and prevent cheaters in games I play without needing the need for cheats. Though if it is a single player game I still use cheats every now and then because I don't feel bad because I am not making it less fun for anyone else.

Crossfire is a known game in my area and the only anti cheat system there is a kick vote system whereas the other team can wait for the last second to kick the darn bastards so that they'd win. It's easy to spot a cheater though. Seemingly looking past walls, too brave to check corners (though the person may just be a noobie), super consistent with recoil control and headshot aim and in some cases they can fly, submerge to the ground, become invulnerable by having their characters use death animations (we call those dolphins. XD) as well as shooting through every wall from across the map. Children seem to see it as a cool thing here and some adults use cheats as well. No permabans and it's so easy to make new accounts. It's a joy for me to take down a cheater and be called one instead but sometimes they just toggle all and our whole team can't do a thing about it. I hope my comment gives some entertainment, cya!

The only experience I've had with a cheater is when I was playing team fortress 2 on the orange box on the Xbox 360. What happened is that I clicked on a 2 fort map and when it loaded in I was on a different strange map with 4 random piles in one corners a bunch of ammo and health kits in one a wall of contest point separating two of the corners and I think some small stairs and a ramp, I could also kill teammates which was also strange. This may have been the game glitching out and loaded a testing place bit I don't know and don't think I'll ever know.

If you are running a game in a virtual machine and use memory observing and screen manipulation from outside, it cannot be detected by any anti-cheat software running on the virtual machine. You could only analyze suspicious behaviour like shooting on a target which the player is not supposed to see or try to fool the tools with honeypot and red herring methods or memory encryption which requires a runtime-intensive decryption, but you really cannot stop cheaters this way, because it is hard to keep them apart from legitimate players.

Heres a thought. Release a complete game, one that wont need an update or have any dlc. Then make a system that detects ANY changes made to the game files and immediately ban those no matter what was altered. This would be 10 times more effective then what they are doing now.

I used to play a lot of cod black ops 3 and by the time infinite warfare came out black ops 3 was full of cheaters. You'd enter a match and hear the notification sound for killstreaks end-to-end until the match ended and people would be throwing the high cost killstreaks out within the first seconds of the match and up until the last. It sucked the fun out of the experience pretty quickly.

The league client is scanning your whole program memory for different keywords. Try googling for "Cheat Engine"(so it shows up as the tab title) and then start a league game. After 30 secs your game will crash :) I dont know how much "scanning" is allowed by government or it is just a moral decision. Something that is really critical in my opinion.

I sort of cheated in MW2. Back when MW2 first got properly hacked you had to be the host of the match to have a mod menu which had over 20 plus hacks including the ability to give the menu to another player. After a week I noticed ever single match was full of aimbotters with god mode or flying around the map. So I started looking into how it was done and found out about you had to be host. Not only that I found where to download the hacks and how to install them on the PS3. The reason I did it was for one hack only *force host*. This would make me host of every match resulting in a clean game with zero hackers. The only problem with that is I could have been banned but I loved and was so addicted to MW2 I didn't care. Other players with hacks could see I was host and asked me to leave through pm or on mic and I would tell them hack somewhere else. The amount of abuse I would get was crazy constantly harassing me over and over. Some weren't even kids it was fucking hilarious.

The reason cheating is so hard to stop is that it is cheaper to run the game logic on the client PCs rather than the server where all the players and their utilities can't touch it.

The issue I have is with certain games that have different responses to exposed cheaters depending on how much money the cheaters spend in the game. (Cough WoT..cough). A cheater who only uses a cheat once who strictly plays as a free players gets permanently banned, while a clan\alliance that all use it regularly but also spend thousands a month on in game transactions get a one week suspension.

Funny story, before overwatch was released alot of battlenet users started steam accounts all on the same day. They actaully used their battlenet screename, sometimes distorted. They all got on tf2 and cheated for weeks before overwatch came out. Soon as overwatch was out the cheating dropped drastically. And right before they released the first set of new characters catbox or meowbox bots flooded servers and began to troll heavily. They tried to destroy the tf2 community and failed. Game companies must have thought a out ruining online competition with cheaters.
