Hey boss, I’m kind of being a consultant on a job at the lake here in Big Sandy. I shared your video with a client that is going to be adding on to their home very soon. This video definitely helps me to explain (in detail) what a mini-split is and the multiple options. Great video and hopefully they will be doing business with you in the near future!

Thank you, I will definitely watch the upcoming videos. Have you ever installed mini-splits in a home with a flat concrete ICF roof? The ICF has a built-in chase for running electric and HVAC but the chase is small and only runs in one direction. We would have to cut the forms laterally before the roof is poured to accommodate ductwork for a traditional system and I think even for the refrigerant lines and drain lines for mini-split zones. We are trying to find the most efficient and cost-effective solution. Also, because the house will be so air tight we also need some sort of makeup air system that will need ductwork as well. Wow, what an undertaking. We are in Southwest Florida if you want to come down for a vacation and install our HVAC!!

I am a general contractor. I installed 3 of these systems, with one of them in my own home. Every one had a defect right out of the box. Had to take Samsung to the California Department of Consumer Affairs in order to get warranty parts for my own unit. The local distributor went out of business because of all the problems with these units. For the best results buy a LG, Mitsubishi or Fujitsu.

Great video. Super informative. Thank you! Do you have any videos with pricing of these types of mini splits and I'm curious with how long they last? Also maybe a video of comparing using Mnii Splits vs using the typical HVAC vent? Last question I can think of, is using mini splits (using the different types) good for a larger home 2500 sq. ft + instead of using the typical HVAC? Clearly the mini splits have come a long way and I like the idea of it replacing the typical HVAC system, so people can regulate each room to their liking.

Well done video as always. We are trying to figure out how to do the HVAC in the home that we are building. The walls and roof will be ICF so running ductwork is a major undertaking. The mini-split with multiple zones seems like it might be the answer but we are wondering if that idea brings up other concerns like drain lines plus we are unsure how many zones we would need. So many details when trying to build a house! Thanks for the awesome channel!

Buying a 220 may envolve some rewiring issue's but once done, it's no longer an expense. A 220 though more expensive to purchase originally, will cost considerably less to operate over the same period of a 110. In addition, I would recomend purchasing one that is a minimum of a one ton larger than one figures utilizing a number of charts and graph's available. It due to the size will be cheaper in the long duration of owning it, then one a ton less. Following my own advice, my 140 meter single floor home in Mazatlan has three minisplits. Two of which are a ton and a half and one of which is a one ton. They are all on timer's that vary from one another. The one in the living room a ton and a half and the one in my game room a one ton with all doors open. Keep the entire house cool starting at 0600 and ending at 1800 ten month's of the year. Our personal bedroom has a ton and a half, which because it actually too large for the room, we keep it set considerably higher than the other two settings and it works from 1800 until 0600 every day for ten month's a year. They are all 220, and my month bill's are less than my neighbor's whom all have less devices which are 110. Not to mention in the ten year's they've been installed, except for cleaning once a year by a professional, I do the cleaning of the filter's every couple of months. They are still the same devices, and show no sign of needing replacement, while all my neighbor have had to replace theirs at least once. Thus if you plan to reside in the home and no desire to flip it. I'd purchase 220's and a half to one ton larger per each installed. Gonna flip it, who cares, put in the 110's.

You can't be serious. You clearly have zero idea what benefits you get from a mini split vs. a window unit. Not only do they have better cooling ability, but they also can cool up to 2x the space for the same electricity as a window unit. Mini splits are very, very efficient with their inverter compressors not to mention the noise level is a fraction of what a "window shaker" is. Window units are temporary and look trashy. The benefits go on and on. You will save way more money over time vs a window unit.

Lots of Solar panel system owners are going the route of mini splits because of being more efficient as well as much lower starting amperage draw as well as lower over all power usage.

There are some really efficient units out there. Look for the EER rating not the SEER rating. The EER rating will tell you how many btus of cooling it will do per watt. A 14 EER unit will do 14btus/ watt. That means a 12,000btu unit will pull 857w or 3.6amps @240v. There is MASSIVE variation on mini split efficiency per unit! Some can use up to 50%+ more power than another at the same cooling capacity!

I want to remove all the under house duct work and handler. Mice make nest inside the unit and leave an odor. I would want a four station system all floor models, the house is small under 900 square feet I believe when I get back up there this summer I will measure rooms. The kitchen has one wall where one floor unit can go, the bedroom one can go under the east window, the living room has a west window where the third floor unit can go and the closed in windowed porch on the south wall I can find a place where to put the forth unit. I want all pipes under the house I only want one opening going outside where the original compressor is now. When all this ac installation is finished I can seal the ground under the house. A one ton unit is probably big enough for the four stations I believe the house is 25 by 26 counting the front porch. I may be wrong. 73

Thanks I may start with two stations one in the living room and one in the bedroom the kitchen is open to the living room, that should get me started I know the front porch will need a unit if someone sleeps there but right now the main house needs to be done I'm hoping I won't have to buy a dehumidifier for the house but when no one is up there, do I want to run the system unattended with storms and such like? 73
