Where In this case its just swapping from one somewhat under performing team to another, with neither really doing great. Plus Its only been the last few races that Merc have looked like they really have a working package at all, and only a few races ago the Mercs were struggling as much as Ferrari did in the more recent races... So you tell me which is really better, and perhaps be proved wrong next race... Right now I'd lean Merc, but still.

As we all know in F1, it's the car that generates a WDC and Ferrari are a long way from being winners right now while with James Alison now directing the engineering side for Mercedes, things are looking good for the Brackley based team. IMO, looking back to Abu Dhabi 2121, Mercedes don't appear innocent in the conspiracy that went on. I don't think they wanted Lewis to pass the German golden boy M.Schumacher record of 7 WDC ; they did not fight the farce decision of 2021 in court, their following cars were (suddenly) duds, they offered Lewis a lousy contract extension with no ambassadorial role, all to force him out, inspite of all the championship they'd won with him! And now that he is leaving next year and Max cannot be caught, the Mercedes starts to come alive again. @@Mrj_o you mean a team who won last in 2007 because Kimi kept yelling at them still has prestige. They are like AC milan. Fallen former giant. Having a couple of bad seasons for Mercedes (and his own racing) and then jumping to a team that is almost as good as where you are now says a lot about Lewis. He wants more guaranteed money then taking the risk for a shorter deal and looking what team actually makes a competing car. So yes he choose a place that has no history of winning since the IPOD. So making that move can't be one considered for competitieve reasons. So what is left, money and attention. Well. He gets both. I don't fault him for doing so but dont pretend you are still there to compete like one of the best. Might be smart as he isn't that anymore either. Max and Lando are clearly better and more consistent drivers at this point in their careers. Lewis is the Ferrari among drivers. Got a lot of accolades, is old and has a lot of respect but is on the second line of competing. So I see why its a good match.
