G series Sansui's had wire management raceway built into the cabinets on the side under the connector insert, the side connection was designed to have easy access to the connections if the unit was installed in a cabinet, instead of pulling out the whole unit.

EMT (Elektro messtechnik) was a very famous leading German company for studio equipment. Founded 1940 in Berlin, Germany, by Wilhelm Franz. After the War they produced (in and near Lahr, Black Forrest) some of the most iconic TT ever made. Look for the EMT 927 and the much smaller EMT 930. Both idler wheel TTs, found in TV- and Broadcasting- Studios all over the world. Today highly sought after by Japanese, Korean and Chinese audiophiles and collectors. Later, in the 70s+ they produced the EMT 950 and the 948 DD TT etc. Also produced the 12" J- shaped and the famous 12" 997 banana shaped Tonearm, the 10" 929 Arm as well as the "Tondosen" (professional pickups), all highly regarded by audiophiles nowadays. Also made studio reverb Equipment etc. In the 60s Thorens was also part of their company (Thorens Franz AG). I also owned some of their stuff (930 and 950). Excelente for 78s as well! Best regards from Germany!

Thanks very much for adding the great detail. I'll certainly keep an eye out for anything EMT going forward.

There is even a book about the EMT history out there, which might be of interest for you: Dr. Stefano Pasini: "Deutsche Perfektion: The history of the legendary EMT turntables." By our German standards they were considered highest quality, on par with Neumann, Telefunken/Siemens/AEG and Studer. Actually, they worked together. As you can see: I am an EMT fanboy 😊 Keep up your good work!
@RUfromthe40sАй бұрын
wasnt EMT envolved with BASF in late 80´s or early 90´s , i read that the basf cassettes were getting lower quality and BASF blamed EMT but EMT bought BASF, i had a new deck that when using a new BASF cassette it apeared the info. ERROR due to the extra strenght the deck had to do to rotate the litle reels inside the casing.

3:26 I looked for a decade for a clean pair of JBL 4343's after hearing them in a cafe in Tokyo. I am 100% satisfied with them to the point I don't feel I ever need another speaker for my 2 channel system. All of the detail, accuracy and power I'd ever want, without any of the listening fatigue that so many reference speakers I tried before would have. I'd consider some 4355's but the 4343's are much easier to place and work in more rooms.
@stereonicheАй бұрын
Thanks for chiming in to the comments. I've never heard a pair, but I hope to eventually. Being able to accommodate the size of the 4355 will certainly be something that has to be well planned.

First time watching your channel. Good video. Kept me glued. I love looking at vintage audio gear. I just recapped my "not at all valuable" SX-780. Not a rare model, but it does sound terrific and a little different now that she's been recapped.
@stereonicheАй бұрын
But. it is a model you can almost assuredly find parts for should you ever need any. Thanks for watching! There are a lot of other videos and more to come all focused on vintage audio topics or units from my collection.

i saw on tv the images but one doesn´t know where you are in the U.S. but happy to know it doesn´t afect you in a bad way, i notice that when weather fenomenons happen and destroy entire villages the building material seem to be most of it wood, we don´t have those problems and i live in a house built in early 20th century and built like a castel ,rock up on rock and others were built with a special non cooked clay but with larger walls and stones with a mix of special types of dirt to substitute concrete that wasn´t available at the time, wood was never used to built a entire home , only in the roof but this long ago ,todays buildings are built strong and also notice the price of a home in the U.S. seems too expensive for the building quality and with such problems when re-built seems to be the same material, i notice once a school that all children there were safe ,maybe because the only part standing up was near the entrance where they built it with bricks but seems only a decorative detail and the horror was seeing all the city destroyd only that part of the school was up.
@stereonicheАй бұрын
@@RUfromthe40s LOL, yes, compared to parts of Europe, our building tech can look a bit fragile. Government buildings, like schools, are typically made of more durable materials like cement block/brick.

in some years not only Sansui had the conections by the side but normally they made it possible to hide the wires but some components those parts that secure the wires are gone, Pioneer also as many amplifiers and receivers with the conections on the side and not only this two brands, i remenber having a tube amplifier from HHScott and all functions and conections in the back are well written but if you conect all like it´s done today you might destroy the amplifier , i only refer the volume ,it´s not the Volume knob but the Loudness knob, and inputs in the back if you don´t read well the manual you will get nothing, but in tried in a year that there was no internet and my grandfather had died so i tried with a device to measure electricity values inside(low voltage and resistance values) and by those values i associated the right places to get it hooked, this with other amplifier with the right functions and inputs as today to compare the values , a multimeter would be fantastic at the time
@stereonicheАй бұрын
It makes sense they would have added some covers to hide the wires if on the side. Some of the rear inputs that are upward facing could also be awkward in some situations, but at least it was hidden.
@RUfromthe40sАй бұрын
@@stereoniche normally wasn´t a cover but a arc in chromed metal that the wires would enter by the back and conected by the side, noty sure now but the SA-8800II i think it´s built that way, a Pioneer integrated amplifier from 77 if memory doesn´t fail me ,next year there were already those with blue displays with power meters .

There is a pioneer that was built like the G series, that had a separate amp with a cord, that was offered at military PX's a VERY RARE UNIT.

JBL L100 is why I'm here a lady brung out her big cart to start putting everything on the shelf, i walked up and looked at the off orange fronts they had been in really good condition but i would have never thought they are worth money like that, I passed on them and the guy standing behind walked up and through one in his cart while his wife went to go get another cart to throw the other speaker in, he said we hit the jackpot, they wanted $50 bucks for the set. I looked them up after that and seen the price, still remember that moment. Knowledge is always king i guess. That same goodwill 3 months later put out a complete gaming system if the Nintendo with rare stuff that went to the game plus it had a mint condition championship game. He got everything for $60 bucks and the one Nintendo game was worth $200 grand. I don't live close to the store but when I'm in that town, I will stop and check things out.

i have the twin 2401 Exclusive series from Pioneer in use with my exclusive system from the 70´s but never going to sell them as they are one of my favorite speakers and were restored by a old technician but to original specifications, i received from my father two other pairs with similar design that were the studio monitors in his home studio assembled in 1970 , but to hear the recording already mixed and leveled , the first were Altec Lansing the after were JBL and were even bigger. Litle speakers beware! well i like both but at start i used to put the litle on top of a pair of speakers with big woofers or the best of both worlds

So my Grandfather, I found out, was a huge HiFi nut and unfortunately recently passed. As we were going through the attic, which by itself has to be at least 1000 square feet, we came across three JBL Paragons. One of them was in a bit of rough shape. The other two were individually wrapped in old wool blankets and are in immaculate condition and sound pretty amazing. I never hear any of these videos talking about them. Ae they not worth talking about? What do I have and they worth holding onto.... Was considering listing them on ebay. The one that's seen better days for parts.
@stereonicheАй бұрын
Holy Smokes! Wow, three of them? That is like finding three split window Corvettes in a barn. There is not much discussion because most channels are devoted to talking about new gear. The buyer for a Paragon are few, so it will take considerable time to sell three of them. It must be some attic to get them up there. Send me an email if you get a minute: stereoniche@gmail.com

Well, that is an asking price, not a sold price. At the time of the video, I did not have time to look for sold values. There are not many, but it seems the few that have sold over the years are in the $12 - 15k range, so still an apparent bargain... or the new going rate.
