Those Antique Soudn Lab AQ-1009's will sound VERY good if they don't blow up.... I'm a bit stunned at the volume of gear...

This video hits me a little hard! I’m an older guy that very rarely ever gets rid of hi-fi equipment. I’ve acquired a decent collection, nothing like the guy in this video though. My wife would sell everything for Penny’s on the dollar if I don’t let her know ahead of time what some of my stuff is worth!

I'm a diy speaker builder and I'm afraid if something happens to me no one will realize how much money and time I put into my speakers. I don't build little bookshelves, they all weigh around 100 lbs a piece.

That is what we face....our collections will be either sold for pennies on the dollar, given away or trashed .... my youngest relatives (beneficiaries) care not about their crazy uncle's "hobbies" and I doubt will do much research to sell for reasonable worth. Different tastes for different people. Several shipping containers of movie theatre horns, speakers and amps of the usual Altec, RCA, EV. JBL gear.... I just can't understand why anyone would NOT want two 7 foot tall 400 lb. horn cab speakers with wings in their home. It might make the kids low bit rate mp3 phone music recordings sound better but, ............(silk purses from sows ears)

I unplugged the TV 5 years ago and have invested in some nice sound, I have gotten into small speakers and really enjoy the differences in their sound and they fit different albums or artists nicely. I buy used because I don't have alot of income, but make the most of what I have. My Marantz SR7002 receiver was a gift from a fellow veteran that passed away and it's the heart of my system. I also have a set of JBL lSR studio monitors that are nice to listen on when I am listening to an album for the first time. I don't have alot of room, a small 10×14 room, and it does have a decent sound with the 12 foot ceiling. I been dreaming of class A or a tube amp down the road. But better speakers would almost be needed. I have a Paradigm studio center channel cc390 I believe and it is beautiful sounding. It doesn't really match well with any of my speakers yet. The closest are the KEF. The KEF gumdrops I have are the most neutral sounding speaker I have heard. They don't sound a particular way. Excellent imaging with the coaxial driver though. Nice depth too. I wish there was a major organization that supports giving these gifts to those who really appreciate audio. It is not about the money. It's about the love and passion for sound and staying away from the TV.

Damn, hits a bit close to home. I essentially still have every audio piece I've ever owned. 70's up til now. Retired now, these items are stacking up. Even have my car audio gear from the 70's and 80's. Everything. I've got a cheapo 70's tape deck that plays 8tracks and cassettes in the same slot!

I remember them ,an 8track cartridge that you could put a cassette into to play a cassette in an 8track player . Seriously degraded the sound of the cassette as it transferred from cassette to 8track via recording onto a tape loop that soon needed replacing ..

Shame a family member didn't get it passed on to them, who would appreciate it all, and the stories with it all. Possibly the "crazy audio person" gene skips generations lol score for the store though! That's enough to keep people busy for a long time!
@dubdoodle7191Ай бұрын
this vid demonstrates how obsessed some folks are scouring estate sales and classified listings for vintage audio only for no other purpose than stockpiling it. When they decide to sell some items, it's usually 50x their original price paid. Then when they're desperate to cash out, they'll attempt an insurance claim job and wind up going to jail. In then end it was it was all for nothing LMAO.
