Alberto Del Rio in 2010-2012 felt like the perfect main event heel for WWE. Outside of that, he felt like he'd only be a main event guy outside of WWE. That's still better than most pro wrestlers at face value. But in the end, he ruined his own career and legacy with his actual personality and behavior.

Alberto Del Rio’s entrance was the most over thing about him. The nice car, the personal ring announcer, and the banging music all made him seem like a huge star. Unfortunately, the man couldn’t put it all together.

@@cool-lemon I always felt he was a very good in-ring wrestler in terms of just execution of spots and pacing of a match; he just didn't have any real connection that made anybody care about him or make the moves, and then he got entitled, lazy, started messing up more frequently and became an out-of-ring trainwreck. The brief El Patrón run before he returned to WWE was the one time people had a reason to care about him, and that's why it worked pretty well. But the problem was, the reason people cared was he became emblematic of rebelling against attitudes within WWE at the time, not because people actually loved or wanted to see ADR.

Thing is around this time, I was a Del Rio fan. He could still wrestle at the highest level and I loved his work in Lucha Underground... but then everything else happened. He just comes across as a delusional bitter man nowadays (and really, he should be in prison for the things he did but that's a whole different story). According to Cagematch, he does work the rare obscure indy show in Mexico every now and then but not AAA or CMLL or anywhere major and it's safe to say, NO ONE, not WWE, TNA, AEW, MLW, AAA or anyone else in a functioning brain would work with him again. In conclusion, he's a good wrestler but terrible, awful human being.

Alberto Del Rio was a guy carried by his aesthetic (His entrance, the theme the whole presentation) but couldn't push it past that first impression. Excellent vid Marky. Once Del Rio left WWE a void was left which they've tried to fill but they've failed quite a bit. Let's hope Santos Escobar comes good, he probably will in all honesty. Anyway, I have a suggestion for a video on the Ring of The Hawk. Finn Balòr's run in NXT from 2019, October 2nd, where he made his return to the brand up to 2021. The goal of the run was for him to go from the happy, smiley guy who didn't mind letting others taking his place to The Prince, the main event, a gimmick that elevated him into the main event scene back in New Japan. This run was incredible and I think he might be a contender to win this or the next season of Ring of the Hawk. So if you'd like lad, have a look at The Prince. Keep up the good work! 👊
