It is interesting that another minister preached the sermon about asking God what church to join and talked about James 1 5. It doesn't make Joseph's experience with the Father and our Savior any less significant or truthful. It is just interesting to me. Thank you for sharing this.

That is an excellent point for the irony it contains. Does it show a preacher can have timely and divine inspiration to share? Yes, it does, even though the result led an earnest, truth-seeking young boy to take a different course rather than join the Methodist Church this preacher led. It shows the Lord can orchestrate whatever means needed, and use whoever is needed, to accomplish an important action. In this case, Joseph Smith was reminded and given the key scripture to answer his question to pray and seek out the answer to his question.

Great video. It shows n honest, God fearing and extremely hard working family. It would have been interesting to further expound why he was removed as patriarch of the Church.

He was removed from his position (apostle) not once but twice. His name is mentioned less in the Doctrine and Covenants than any other apostle. There are a lot of unanswered questions regarding William. A quick research check will show there are no recorded descendants or even a marriage. Allegedly it was Parley P. Pratt who raised the objections when his name was called to be sustained in 1845.

@@LongLostAmerica There is a lot of tragedy in the Smith family. The world was truly against them and it no doubt had an effect on them.

This kind of writing from real people from that era I think would be more helpful than revisionist historian views. They are ignoring real records for doing new historical fiction and historian views who don't even have testimonies of the work. That seems very strange to me. Lucy Mack Smith has a book too. All of these I hope they can use sources of enduring faith and not wavering faith. Although not all Joseph Smith's family always endured they had loyalty and love for him that was lasting, so its very valuable still and counts as unwavering faith through acts of love and loyalty. Where new sources that are created now sometimes paint the behavior of that era strangely such as the strangeness of what's happened recently in the last 40 or 50 years from the history department trying to do their own thing, and rewrite or change things. Thanks for this.

I am related to a woman who was divorced from one of them. Joseph Smith? I would have to look at the family tree.
