I know there have been other videos in which Geoff has sung higher and lower notes. But I still feel like this one gives the strongest impression of how incredible his range is and how (seemingly) effortlessly he can move through it at will. Also, it shows off how good he is at character voices, which isn't necessarily the first thing that comes to mind with him.

Try his solo version of “Ain’t No Sunshine” if you haven’t seen it already. There is a moment where he drops like three or four octaves just to bounce right back up. It’s so freaking casual and effortless that it doesn’t just seem real. It’s when you first see him up and walking.

Possibly related: I’ve had four iPhones. This is the only one to blow a speaker. This is the only one I’ve played Geoff on. I’ve also lost two tv soundbars in four years whereas I had one last like ten years pre-VoicePlay. I only listen through headphones now. Mountain King is amazing on so many levels. Mischievous Cesar is wonderful. I didn't know that I needed opera-singer Eli in my life, but yeah, I definitely did. The carrot lord is in top form, and Geoff is, well, he's Geoff. The featured guest is just, I mean, every featured guest VP works with is incredibly talented, but ... those *pipes* ... they outdid themselves on the set and make-up and lighting, even more than usual; the script for the video, and the way the vocals correlate and dovetail so perfectly with what is going on on screen, and just... just everything. If anything can top Hoist for me, it's gotta be Mountain King.

VoicePlay definitely owns Halloween in the a capella world. From the early days with The Phantom of the Opera to last year's Hide and Seek, their Halloween videos all go above and beyond. Also something to keep an eye out for is that Layne is obsessed with Carrots. There are numerous videos where he tries to sneak a carrot into the video.

Geoff's first high note was a G#4. The high note at the end is a B4. For a bass to hit these notes full voice is truly incredible! His last deep note was an E1 (the first E on the piano keyboard).

This arrangement by Layne required Geoff's full range, highest to lowest note (at the time). Layne makes him stretch, and Geoff says either that Layne hates him or that Layne is an a-hole. But the results are always fabulous. Pasquale (Santa) is Kathy's brother and has a good voice-- the siblings performed together in an a cappella group in college. But that's Eli providing Santa's voice. If you want to see Geoff slide through octaves seemingly without effort, watch Ain't No Sunshine. And if you liked Oogie Geoff, wait until you see Janitor Geoff in Way Down. Have the captions on and keep watching until the Patreon list appears. The follow-up to this one is 'This Is Halloween' (the one you heard in preview at the end) - it also has them doing character voices, but there's a lot more actual 'straight' singing in it as well. VoicePlay is definitely the most theatrical of the main acapella groups, followed by Voctave. They don't neglect their talent. They're this good BECAUSE of their talent. What a performance! What a reaction! Need more? "Just Sing" (with Sandy Claws' daughter), "Unchained Melody" (Home Free's version also a classic but completely different), "Can't Help Fallin' In Love with You" (my favorite version of this), "I Will Survive," Imagine Dragon's "Warrior"...can't name them all but you can't go wrong. Next Christmas, "You're a Mean One, Mr Grinch" is a theatrical masterpiece

I was actually searching for something from Danny Elfman and this came up as a suggestion, and I thought "Ok...acapella Oogie Boogie...why not?" and 2 years later I'm so deep down the rabbit hole, I don't think I will ever find my way out...which is fine because I don't want to escape. What's This?. This Is Halloween. Kidnap The Sandy Claws is the only one without Earl. Shock is played by Rachel Potter instead and their wearing more makeup. In this one captions read "Subterranean" when Geoff does that low note. In his new video we get 5 Geoff's. One does a cool solo. He had to film at 3 separate locations on 3 separate days.

As usual a great reaction. You need to buy some wireless headphones. I’m afraid that one of these times you are going to jump up and pull your computer right off the desk.🎧💥🎧 Eli did Santa’s voice. Santa was portrayed by Kathy’s brother Pasquale. I don’t think he sings professionally, but the whole family is musical. Their dad is a music teacher and his daughter is in the opening and ending of Just Sing. A few things to listen/watch for when you re-watch it: when Layne gives his little line, Geoff is in the background casually doing a little downward riff. When the guys are doing the backgrounds, they will use a some of the words of Geoff’s line. It’s in a lot of their video’s. I noticed it first In This is Halloween. Spiders appear in the line “snake and spider stew”. In the section where they are in the dark and their mouths are glowing, somebody’s neck gets snapped🤯. And the panning when Geoff is singing “drowning in my tears” 😘! I can’t wait until Halloween and you start going through all of those!. They did four songs from Nightmare:This is Halloween (my fave because it is so clever), What’s This and Kidnap the Sandy Claws are the others. They do a new one each year either Halloween or spooky theme (like Superstition and I’ve Got Friends on the Other Side from Process and the Frog). Geoff Also has done one a year for the last three years. The newest, Ghost Riders In The Sky is subtly Halloween (ghosts) but nothing else about it is subtle. You have heard Geoff sing lower, but this one is so distinctive because it starts out so high. It’s the first time they used subharmonics in one of the videos. If Geoff is singing really really low or is wearing a weird costume Layne probably did the arrangement. He really likes to push Geoff out of his comfort zone! Check out Hall of the Mountain King- they ARE goblins/demons/trolls. 👹

Santa is Geoff’s brother-in-law. I believe his name is Nick but I don’t remember his last name. This was my second VP video when I first started listening 2 years ago, and it blew my mind when I first heard it. It still gives me shivers.
