VGC/Gameplay wise, it’s Tera by a lot. Megas are the most overpowered.

I wholeheartedly agree. Lore, design, and thematic wise, Mega Evolution is the best. Competitive and Creativity wise, Terastilization is the best.

Definitely Tera for it's more wide spread balance in my opinion. I have a personal bias favorite to Z-moves mainly cause of the animations when using it but is generally not as super good in competitive, same goes to Megas which the appeal was transforming Pokemon but only to the few that can do so which is unfair for those that really needed it.

Z-moves kinda underrated and overhated, but god on a second pass I would've loved more with team utility attached like max moves had. Really flavorblast effects (like if the snorlax and decidueye ones trapped you, or the primarina one set a screen or something)

Its just a bad concept, you either give all pokémon mega evolitions or none of them its not realy fair for your mostly kid audience to say "mega evolutions are the closest bond a trainer and a pokemon can have" and then parctically tell them "your pokemon doesnt love you enough to mega evolve lol but here try ✨️charizard✨️"

@@Thedawg2604 from lore it’s conceptually bad the idea of giving one normally mediocre Pokémon on your team a place to be able to be good is not and breaths fresh air into an old Pokémon that normally doesn’t get to see the limelight this is why Pokémon like charzard metagross and mewtwo shouldn’t have megas so less of a structural flaw and a flaw within the execution process

Overall I believe mechanically Tera is the best mechanic While Megas, while being extremely broken pseudo restricted mons making low powered formats over centralized I believe Megas work a lot better in singles and is a lot better visually but when it comes to doubles? Tera is the best mechanic

The gems aren’t truly gone because there is still the Normal gem left which Pokemon with fake out and unburden love to use

Megas are the coolest, but have the worst execution. I think Dynamax is the coolest from a gameplay perspective because of the secondary effects of Max Moves. Tera is probably the most balanced (even if the hats look stupid). Gems are fine and maybe should've stayed permanently. And Z-Moves are the worst. I'm probably biased because of how lame the animations are though. They're mostly just Gems but worse. Should've just kept the Gems. Although I do like the cool Z-Move variants of status moves. Maybe keep the Gems and make Z-Moves exclusively give cool secondary effects, even to damaging moves. It would be like a fusion of status Z-Moves and Max Moves, just without a power boost.

My personal favorite was tera because of how balanced it was compared to things like Z-moves and mega's I personally believe that the way that Mega evolution was designed was a mistake now don't get me wrong I love the concept of mega evolution but what I have a problem is how unbalanced it is the way megas were designed and implemented was a mistake and it's why Gamefreak refuses to allow it back into the VGC meta they have soft banned Mega evolutions for a good reason and I believe it's for the better and what pisses me off the most is that Tera and dynamax were discussed to be banned but Mega evolutions on the other hand which is much more problematic on paper was never even considered to banning even though it's really team restrictive making almost every team feel very samee but I'm just ranting at this point so i digress

Yeah honestly megas were so messy and they're also the hardest to fix. Z-moves and dynamax were pretty aight looking back and might be way easier to retune and flavorblast

Tera: It's the most balanced and the best for competitive battles in my opinion but the design it's the ugliest. Z-moves: The animation looks cool and at least all pokemon can use it once. Gigamax: It looks cool but It's unbalanced. Mega evolution: It's coolest looking but only some pokemon can use it and not all pokemon with mega evolution are good

Honestly none of them, to me at least the game is the best when it’s more straightforward and cuts out unnecessary guessing games. Megas were probably the best but I still don’t like them much cause it was just so limiting which ones were actually usable. Tera is by far my least favorite rn, completely changing a mons type is so unbalanced and is kind of a lame mechanic visually as well. I’m just weird though and you could call me boring I suppose but the once in a blue moon formats with no gimmicks are the best to me.

I think mechanically/overall Terastalization is my favorite. Asthethically megas are coolest. Dynamix/gigantimax ehile maybe balanced netter then Mega...i hated almost everything about it. Which is funny because in concept polemon gets big and maybe transforms in unique eay should be fun. But the execution and all commpanying aspects to it made me hate whenever dynamax happened. It felt like it took way long to do yhe animation for it, we hated how any interesting music that might have been playing changed to the weird vague chanting song associated with it. The final package just fell flat to me.

Mega is definitely the best during the play through and for casual play. Tera is the best competitively. Z Moves are definitely the worst though.

Honestly? I'd say Megas aren't even good for playthroughs and casual play. They're pretty confined to a small list, each of them are only unlocked or found way too late, you have to know which ones exist and are available going in or they won't align (outside of gen 1 starter and lucario), and the stats are so monstrously high that the scaling makes them suck a lot of fun out of the game if you use them earlier. Plus, the games know this because the gym leaders, elite four, and "rivals" mostly don't even use it. Kinda sloppy in execution even if I like it and its designs and spectacle

@@BestgirlJordanfish True. Games with Megas are pretty easy as you can use it in any battle (assuming) you meet the requirements to do so and you’re probably gonna have an OP one. Dynamax can only be used in gym battles and a few exceptions, while Tera can only be used for one battle, after which, you have to go back to the Pokemon Center.
