No hate from me but I use my credit card for almost all of my expenses. I track my spending through my receipts, and I pay off the total every month. I have used the points to pay for flights, hotel rooms, car rentals, Disneyland tickets, movie tickets etc. Maybe those points aren't necessary for a millionaire as Dave points out, but they sure are to me!

I am 100% with you on the credit card question, I have travelled extensively in and out of Australia and never had to use one. Our debt free cruise which we are taking in September is all on being paid for with cash and debit cards.

I really enjoyed how you responded to cultivating and being choose-y about what you bring into your home. I have a major shopping problem and have watched you for over a year and a half and have often contemplated starting a channel in hopes that it will help me like it did you but it scares me. Thank you for being so honest about all of your journey!

Not shopping mindlessly is something I've had to work on and give up! My friends have always loved shopping and I'd go along and buy whatever without thinking it through, so now I'm much more considerate.

I did not travel out of my country in 2018, cooked many more of my meals from scratch, meal planned using flyers, greatly reduced the frequency of eating out, budgeted my tithe, banned myself from meaningless shopping (because I was bored )and am decluttering my entire house one room at a time. As you say it comes down to living intentionally.

Im a teenager and I was inspired by you. In your case you want to earn money due to your debt or you want something to buy. In my case i really want to get something for my family for their birthdays or christmas but i dont have a job or anything. I am old enough to get a job, but im a beginner and i tend to be shy. I still have school so i dont know how im going to control having school and job at the same time. Also when me and my friends go out, they all have money on their own but when it comes to me i dont. I always ask my mom but shes a single parent and i want to be more independent and not ask her because i am not the only child. I want to know, (from your previous video) what side jobs or online jobs that you can get payed for? OoooOo i am wondering if you still sell your books for money is it actually legit? I want to try it for myself maybe this is something i can do to get something for myself and my family. I really want to know if it actually helped you! Thank you! IM SO PROUD OF YOU!!❤

I wasn't able to use my debit card when I got to a hotel. They absolutely wouldn't take anything but a credit card. I couldn't go to another hotel because I was part of a group trip and we had booked ahead of time. I was happy that I had a friend with a credit card...but now I have a cc so I'm never caught off guard again. A friend of mine uses her credit card for every thing anfd pays it off every month. She mentioned that last year she saved $2400 for travel. I know not everyone is so responsible but I don't think there's a one rule fits all in this case.

I lived in Nicaragua, Mexico and Colombia and have travelled extensively all over the world. I have never needed to use a credit card to travel. The only issue I have ever had was renting a car but there is always someone who will rent a car to a debit card. I will not say that a last minute trip does not impact a zero based budget...BUT a sinking fund would fix that for sure!

Like you, I travel all over with my debit card and never once have had an issue. The credit card industry is very good at making us think we need their product. That said, if people want to use a credit card, more power to them. But it's not a necessity.

Our bank charges $5.00 for any savings account balance that dips below $300.00 at any time. So if today you had balance of $320.00, used $25.00 and replaced it 2 days later to get balance back to $320.00, you incurred a $5.00 fee. Our kids while learning experienced this about 3 times before realizing $5.00 is real money. So, check your banking policies over and when banks send you new information on changes their making, read it well. Awesome job your doing Sarah. Even Rory's happy.

the only time I had difficulty with not using a credit card is when I had to rent a car (emergency... long story). Most Car Rental places will not accept debit cards. However, Enterprise Car Rental will... so that is who got my business that day.

In terms of spending more with credit cards, I think it's the same with debt cards because you're swiping plastic and it bypasses the part of the brain that feels pain when you see cash disappear.

I love how everyone likes to post what a badass they are when it comes to managing credit cards. well let me tell you, I am the one who proves Ramsey’s rule true! Shredded all but one card, well 3 months later I charged a $900 vacation in some random fit of whatever one night. Shredded that card when I woke up in the morning. It’s just too easy to feel like you have it all under control and then bam! You have a balance.

I respect people that can use credit cards responsibly. They are very dangerous for both my husband and I because we are very much impulse buyers. We have closed all of our credit cards except the one that can only be used for medical expenses and will truly only be used in an emergency that is more than what our emergency fund will cover. I feel like a weight has been lifted off me since closing those accounts and knowing I won't be tempted to spend money that I don't have.

I understand why Dave Ramsey is so against cc's--most of the folks following his plan have had serious issues with them and that is how he makes his millions. I use them to my advantage. I do have a monthly budget and track my expenses but use the cc to pay them. Trick is to not also spend money in checking account, LOL. For example, I'm getting new doors for the house which will cost $4,000. I have the cash but will use 4 new cc's (2 for DH; 2 for me) that will give us a total of $800 cash back. Once that $$ hits, I will transfer to our checking acct. and cancel the cards. I will then use the $800 to buy 2 barn doors for our closet . Of course, I will use another cc for this that will give me $150 cash back. And so it goes... I've never paid a penny of interest, nor annual fee. I'll get another card before December when our property taxes are due--$$ is in our account and I'll have to pay a $75 fee, but I'll get $525 in travel money. Since our kids are all out of town, it will get us about 3 round trips to San Diego; or 1 to San Diego and 1 to Nashville. I have a spreadsheet of which cards I've gotten, when, and when they've been cancelled. Over the years, we've received thousands of dollars in rewards at no addtl. cost to us. Works for us.

I’m in Canada and it’s almost impossible to solely use a debit card. Kind of crazy how different it is here than the USA. My bank doesn’t offer any kind of visa debit, so unless online takes PayPal you have to use a credit card. Unless I just haven’t found the work around yet lol love your journey and your videos

I agree about the credit cards. They are not necessarily a bad thing IF used properly. Question: We have medical bills and cc bills. Most cc are paid off. We have been attacking it like this first cc then medical because we are not getting charged interest with medical bills. As we have paid down most consumer debt we have started paying our medical bills. How would you do this is my question cc's first then medical as you are not getting charged interest for medical? Also I have one medical bill that is quite large and it is on my credit report. How would you go about paying it off? By this I mean would you call the collection agency and try to get a cash pay off that may lower the rate or just pay that off? I've not had much success in the past with trying to get a cash payoff for some debt then again you never know. Maybe I've answered my own question. What do you think?

If youre as poor and ona fixed low income lie me, credit cards canbe a lifesaver. For instance i really needed a new mattress, my old one was lumpy , i didnt want to take the $300 out of my emrgency fund, so i used a credit card.I dont have family to help me in case of emergency, so a credit card is a backup plan for me.

for us the biggest sacrifice is eating out. and for me.beauty products and services. I have plenty of makeup.I can cut my own hair.I'm able to do my own nails. much cheaper.I do want to color my hair but am holding off.the dye I want is $14 per box.that money can go to our electric bill.our apartment is all electric.he wants a new game system.all well and good.but with no power kinda defeats the point of having it. plus it's hella hot now where we are.air conditioning is always on.plus a small bedside fan.box fan.and ceiling fan. we have no choice. I have really severe asthma.we have a cute black cat.if my asthma flairs up during a blackout and my inhalers fail.I'm well and truly screwed
