My favorite thing that happened at my job was worker appreciation Day (we don't have them anymore LOL) we work at an auto salvage yard. They were going to have a nice fanfare day where they brought us lunch. It was just some pizza and cupcakes or whatever. But the office people only bought lunch for the office people and not the outside people. They never told the managers that so when it became lunch time all of the outside people got denied. Eventually my manager then ordered us pizza after everybody's lunch time so nobody really got to enjoy. Not that it really matter to me anyway because my management completely forgot about me and I never got to take a lunch that day, it was a 12-hour day with no brakes.

I once worked at a company where everyone bullied each other and the work was shit and the management said since we were unhappy they would get a happiness coach in for a day.

I’ve worked for SO MANY COMPANIES that acted like a coffee mug, or a t-shirt with the company logo, or a camping chair, or whatever was a good “Christmas gift/bonus”. Just give us money, boss. My landlord doesn’t accept payment in coffee mugs… 😑

My theater union tried to practically get us to sign away our health insurance in exchange for a pinball machine backstage. Our reps sold us out.

To save hotel costs, our firm rented a "luxury townhouse condo" in a city we went to a lot. I got there first and the place was filthy, crawlings with bedbugs and the bathroom was matted solid with pubic hair. I called the company to say what the problem was and that I was going to the Holiday Inn. The rest of the team arrived and started yelling at me how I (F, age 30) should have just cleaned it up myself.

Who the hell trashes the meat trays? It should be illegal to throw away food, especially when people struggle.

They tried to make us go on some stupid faraway “team building retreat”. Fortunately I got “sick” and couldn’t go. 😉

Discounts on Ford vehicles that were worth less than dealerships offered and with more restrictions. Plus you had to own a Ford during a not-good era. No discount on Powerstroke trucks. No discount on Mustang Cobra... as if I'd want one when the 2002 Camaro and Firebird were cheaper, FAR more powerful with the LS1, and more fun. BS perk.

What's "mage therapy"? Is that someone calling themself a mage waving "healing crystals" around you, and saying weird stuff, or that code for something else?

Publix does it give you periodic hundred-dollar gift cards but they're reported as a gift on your tax receipt so you pay $200 in taxes on that $100 gift card

10pct employee discount at Rite Aid. My dumbass mother forced me to keep my job there just for a discount that let her pay more than the other stores in our town even after the discount. Though, the Curtis portable CD player car kits for $9 after discount made me a lot of side cash (in 1999). Ten second anti-skip. Still have one 25 years later. Still works just fine. I saved a dollar. Yay. But I got first dibs and bought the entire stock of 6 cases because I could. Coworker wanted a couple and was bummed I got them all. I gave her two for free plus an extra for herself and made a friend for life.

Wonder how many rite aid employees took the good stuff before the going out of business discounts would go public months ago.
