An absolutely wonderful Met and clutch as hell when it mattered. .315 average over three years and a total WAR of 16.5 over the same years at Shea. The Blue Jays got absolutely fleeced in that trade by New York.

This was probably our greatest infield ever. The answer was yes!

Great Player. I wish he stayed with the Mets. Olerud, Alfonzo, Ordonez, Ventura. The Best Infield.

If he would have stayed for the 2000 season we would have beaten the Yankees in the World Series that year.

Olerud instilled the same level of confidence and consistency that Keith Hernandez brought to the organization. Similar approach to his defense and the way they both used the whole field at the plate. A pure joy to have these two greats on our team.

The most underrated player in Mets history. I really think it was because of his short stay with us!

My favorite all time player/ Met that I bothered for an autograph when the Mariners played the Yankees. I remember the guy he was tossing with nudged his head to have him go over to the kid yelling that he loved baseball because of him. Emailed the Mariners calling Olerud a cornerstone and how could they release him, they even responded nice lol

my favorite player as a kid. was truly heartbroken when he left. olerud would of gotten $200 million in free agency today with how we value offense and defense

He left us. I never forgave him. Replaced by Todd Zeile. Who I couldn’t stand, because he wasn’t John Olerud. Going from Olerud to Zeile was like going from Tr*mp to Biden. Brutal smh

One of the greats. Slick fielder. Hit for average, had pop, and was as clutch as clutch could get.
