Watching this show literally helped me save my sons life. He had a sore throat but then had a high fever that wouldnt go away. Finally ended up in the ER. My son has a developmental delay and high pain tolerance. Throat looked normal. They said for us to go home. I said I think he has a systemic infection and to please do bloodwork. dr. Rolled eyes and gave speech about busy ER. MY SON HAD SCARLET FEVER AND WAS ADMITTED FOR A SYSTEMIC BACTERIAL INFECTION. HE WOULD HAVE DIED WITHOUT IV ANTIBIOTICS. Don’t be afraid to ask for bloodwork if your gut tells you something is off!!!

Yes second opinions are so important! I had something not nearly as bad but I had green urine and a completely rigid stomach with giant lymph nodes and my doctor gave me every test: ultrasounds (internal and external), STi tests, ulcer tests, stool samples, blood tests and absolutely nothing. I went to a second doctor and they asked what medications I was taking an how long I was taking them for. I had been on Naproxen 1000mg on and off for 10 years and was taking it 3 times a week at the time. She said to stop taking them. Everything went away. my normal doctor almost blasted my ovaries with the radiation from a ct scan because she didn't have any ideas left and this other doctor just said stop taking those pills and try these new ones that are gentle on the stomach.

The only downside to the Erdheim-Chester Disease episode is knowing that it would have been tested positive even when asymptomatic, plus they tested for histiocytosis and that would have been positive since ECD is a form of histiocytosis. The true side is that it’s treatable, but it’ll always be there for anyone who ends up with it and it’s a lifelong medication plan for which I dread to think of the costs in the US. It is rare though. There’s only been a little over 1500 cases since its discovery in 1930 with two cases and the third case wasn’t discovered until 1972. It does usually hit over 50’s with 75% of the cases being male. I just I’d share this with you fine folk.

@ I spent years helping my ex study and research rare diseases, about 72% of which are genetic. At around that time this episode was watched by us and, since she knew about it but not in depth, we ended up going through everything she could get me to learn about it. I know, it probably sounds like a bit of a boring life for most, but I enjoyed learning it all and far more importantly, I loved seeing her light up everything we got to “discover” things together.

@@Oversizedbags I was always the one with a great memory, able to recall information helpful to revision. She was the one with the brains that could take all of that information and find answers to questions no one else was asking. I’m great for helping anyone revise for exams and yet pretty useless when it comes to building on that information. That’s why I specialised in history. There’s no risk of that changing or mutating into anything other than what it was. It’s also why I work in conflict zone journalism and research now, though I feel that if she were still with us, I’d be the guy reporting back from Ukraine whilst she’d be the one finding the solution to the war. We worked so well together and the world lost a shining star far too soon a couple of years ago.

One day my younger brother(13) came from school and was feeling sick, everyone thought it was mild fever and gave him some meds, a day passed it got worse, I took him to hospital where doctor thought it was malaria and gave him syrup that was meant for adults, after just one dose he got even worse his urine was red, he couldn't eat and even drink he threw immediately, the day after I carried him to hospital(he couldn't walk now) doctor immediately ordered test and said he has hepatitis, test confirmed it and she said he is just a kid it will get better after this meds soon, a day passed by and now he has visible jaundice, people would turn their eyes after looking at him, I took him to a better a hospital out of city, where they diagnosed him he had 104 fever and 450 glucose conc. (sugar level) they started treatment, just like this video they started ordering tests, they didn't know what was wrong with him, after one night they said he needs liver transplant or its over within a day, we couldn't afford transplant got him back home started treatment with some local physician with herbs and stuff, its was bad at first but he survived and after a week he got visibly better it took him 2 months to recover, all this time I had to stay by his side I would carry him to pee and would wash him, he went to school yesterday, this video brought so many memories back. In real life, several kids who attempted to be Youngest to Sailor X failed and had to be rescued at sea to the tune of millions of dollars of tax payer money all for their arrogance. The glaring thing the script writers FUBAR'd. House's theory, ECD via slow progression. The confirming biopsy they tested was from early in the progression when the first test failed. To test his theory, they would have needed a fresh biopsy.

The kid with multiple alters - that's a personality disorder that is ONLY caused by extreme abuse or neglect before the personality fully forms, sometime between the ages of 6-9. The child's home life should be thoroughly investigated.

“Tell all the alters they have cancer.” Bruh. That’s traumatizing. Just tell the current host or the gatekeeper. They’ll get it to the right people as long as the person can learn to communicate between alters via journaling, videos, etc. I don’t think telling the child alters they have cancer is going to help anyone 😂

What I hate is how rude and disrespectful the other doctors are to house. House perhaps is the (fictionally) most brilliant and legendary doctor in fictional medical history. He never is wrong about a diagnosis,it infuriates me the other doctors have no faith or trust in his capabilities and intellect

Now make this Dr. House more in tune with reality- life saving care for those with really good health insurance. Anyone without insurance sit in the back of the bus while those on medicaid get minimal care. The value of your right to live depends on how much money you have.

not exactly sure myself, but I think the redhead gave the girl medication that caused her heart to slow down. she did this to show the parents how bad things could get and force them to sign the amputation consent form. she personally thought that risking your life to sail, which was the patient’s lifelong dream, wasn’t worth it so she “pulled a House”.
