This is like peak nostalgia for me. Thanks for reminding me of it, as you said early thomas media (especially youtube stuff) is extremely nostalgic, for whatever reason. EDIT: I didn't know that the world record trackmaster set was made by these guys, but in retrospect it makes so - so much sense. Damn. Their website is still available on the internet archive, if anyone wants to do any digging into the show's history. Can't remember the link, but I got it from an email or something on their channel.

When he was talking about how important and big they were and then he says "they stopped" and goes on to explain the lack of updates, it pulled at my heart strings, I have felt bad for something that I didn't know 11 minutes ago (I knew about the world record but not about the exhibitions)

This bring back memories, use to chat to them a little bit when I would attend the train show. I remember explaining to one of the young boys at the time, about the Mountain engines. They had a Culdee and wanted to know more about him, and his 2 faces.

Good lord, this takes me back to my days of playing with my Trackmaster trains and sets. It also really brings back memories of a simpler time in Thomas fan history when content wasn't as big and cinematic as it is today. I'm not saying that it's bad for Thomas to be that way, but there is an innocence and simplicity lost with going so big. I really cherish these memories.

These guys were prue nostalgia to me. As someone who grew up with the old Tomy Thomas products it was mind blowing just see how big you could make a tomy trackmaster layout. Another video of theirs that stood out was their tutorial on how to give your tomy engines front couplings.

I have a vague memory of Too Much Thomas. Thank you for bringing this video to life! I know a family who participate in train shows now and then and the father and his two sons have a large Bachmann Thomas collection that they always bring with them. Furthermore, I have a friend who wants to try a Too Much Thomas style take here in America. He's been loading up on Tomy and Trackmaster from sellers off of FaceBook. He told me it was largely because of the Trackmaster videos you uploaded over last last summer that inspired him to dig up his old Tomy and Trackmaster toys and buy more.

I'm honestly glad that there are plenty of other people who remember these videos. This was one of the first videos I ever watched on YT, but I was never able to find it. Last summer, I recently went through an old family computer and a lot of old KZbin links were left in a backup, including this video in particular. As a kid, I remember thinking the viaduct was a real set and not understanding why I couldn't buy it lol.

One of my favorite Thomas related KZbin videos from that time was one titled “Huge Thomas Wooden Train Set” by AllAboardToys. Released in the fall of 2007, it showcases an enormous wooden railway set. First being built by four employees (2 men and 2 women) through sped up footage and then seeing a battery operated Thomas riding through the layout.

Hmm… As an Australian myself, I do actually faintly remember watching these videos as a kid… Perhaps, it’s a possibility that the layout they built is still out there, but perhaps not by the Murphy’s instead in a railway museum’s model room somewhere. Judging by the location of the world record - Ipswich in Queensland, that’s probably where the layout is. Maybe not me, but perhaps someone could take the time to go up there and do some investigation behind it all…

Funny Story: I used to collect all of the Takara Thomas & Friends (The Classic Takara not the disgrace version of it) I used to collect up to Emily I think that is the last character I’ve ever bought. But that’s not all. I used to own a lot of Takara’s Rails too. To the point that I can make entire sodor railway networks. But this become problematic because my parents gets mad at me if I tried to attempted to do that because it will pretty much takes over entire house. So I decided to make small railway for it and I have to disassembled it because my parents will get mad if I don’t pack up the toys after playing with it. Sadly I am no longer own them now because I donate to my neighbors who is pretty much a harder Thomas Fan than I do plus he have a child. Also, I don’t have space to kept them unless I want to make them rot away in my storage which is not a great idea. I don’t regret though. Because atleast my toys are keep getting played by someone and not just being sad at the shelf or storage somewhere.
