That submarine story... My Father in Law had highers ups like that. Nearly killed a few people, especially when an engine room's ventilation suddenly shut down because of suddenly diving without warning. Another guy almost got crushed by a loose part by one of these maneuvers.

My worst sucks to he right moment was when my husband asked me to drive him to meet a buyer for his iPhone on let go. I was like "sure honey!" And off we went to the sketchiest neighborhood I've ever seen. As we are driving through and he's giving me a play by play of where to drive and park I comment "we bout to get robbed" we parked the car the guy shows up....and promptly attempts to rob him. The man for some reason ran away when my 5'2 ass jumped out of the car screaming "I will f***ing kill you" at the top of my lungs. Still can't believe that worked. Cops never found the guy.

I was mad at my friend because she kept smoking cigarettes and weed during pregnancy. Told her she would lose custody if she continued and that with help she could stop... She never stopped and lost custody of her son. I'm still upset about it... But she is clean now. She has a second kid and is a good mom to him
@randomguyontheinternet5030

losing custody of a kid is the least important part when it comes to smoking while pregnant. It's so sad to see kids with birth issues because of drinking or smoking while pregnant. Like the kid didnt ask for any of that or to be born in the first place. If you want to be a parent, you should raise them right. If you dont want to be a parent, an abortion is a LOT cheaper than having a kid.

Doesn't fit the thread, but: My Mom's BFF was a single mom of four kids. They youngest was 10 or 12 when this happened. She called my mom in tears, asked her to come over. Mom was sure somebody had died, somebody cancer, or something like that. Nope- she was pregnant. Mom was SO relieved. Mercifully, she made decent money as a nurse, and had healthcare through the hospital. Baby daddy stepped up and paid support, and other than some non-life-threating medical issues with her now youngest, everybody lived happily ever after.

I work at a bar, and yes “too drunk” is a legitimate thing. Some bars allow employees to do shots with the customers, but it’s very regulated. Usually it’s no more than one or two shots every few hours. But every now and then, someone over does it and ends up having way more than they’re supposed to. At that point they become a liability.

I called the fact that the icecream store I worked at was going to be robbed. There'd been a string of robberies all in the area, all women working alone at night. I even told my co-worker. Her answer? "Yeah Suuuuure". I sometimes wish it was her working that night, and not me. The facts were, the manager never hired men, and always had people working alone at night. Even the cop who responded to the call was growling about how having people work along at night should be illegal here.

This was back when I was in Year 11 in high school. One lunch time, the school’s PA announcement called for all Year 12s to go to the assembly hall immediately. Obviously this was a bit out of the ordinary because of how serious it sounded, so we were all speculating. I told my friends that I reckoned someone slipped off the road (it was raining) and died in a car crash last night. Turns out, a kid who had graduated a year before and was friends with most of the Year 12s, had indeed hit a tree close to midnight and died instantly

I could tell from a very young age that my parents weren't very close to each other. I remember being about 9 and asking them why don't act lovey-dovey like other couples do, and later that night they made a point of being close to each other and kissing each other in front of me. That didn't help matters. I had some doubt that I may be wrong, because despite not being close my parents stayed married to each other and raised me and my sisters. As the black sheep of the family, I felt that these thoughts made me a bad person and that they would've been the perfect family if I wasn't there. So, I distanced myself from them. When me and my sisters were all out of the house, they finally broke the news that they were going to get a divorce. I kept my cool while they were around, but once I was alone, I couldn't help but feel vindicated. I. Was. Right.

So I have 2 stories. The first happened before my grandmother died. She was going into the hospital for a knee replacement surgery. This was the second knee and was scheduled about a year after the first. Her first surgery had gone fine but her recovery was slow as she was old and not in especially good health. I knew she wasn't going to be home but I was just a teenager so I didnt want to say anything nor did I want to be right. Well she ended up having a stroke during the operation and ended up being braindead and they pulled life support a few days later. Everyone was shocked about her not making it, except for me. The second story was at the start of the pandemic. Coworkers were working from home and we supported hotels. Id heard that something like 90% of our clients were at or below 10% capacity and it was getting worse. Well as me and a coworker were returning from work she slapped her purse (with the badge) against the scanner. It didnt scan but it wasnt that surprising as it may not have properly registered the badge but I joked with her "this is how you find out you're fired." I then scanned my badge and we walked in. 5 minutes later we were both let go along with most of the staff.

Two times. Both relating to death. The first time was when my family was intercepted when we got to church, right before going inside for mass, by most of the Knights of Columbus members. We were moved to our pastor's house, and by the time we got there we understood it was something with my dad who was at the Hospital he worked at like normal. Except it wasn't normal. As soon as I overheard one of the people talking to someone on the phone saying, "We're bringing them into the house now." I knew my dad was dead. That didn't stop me from crying. That was six and a half years ago. May his soul and the souls of all the faithfully departed, though the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. The second time was just earlier this year when my great uncle was admitted to the hospital after a fall. He was already missing a chunk of his esophagus, had two fake knees, and some other internal issues, so when we got the news and were asked to pray, my dreams reflected the lack of hope. In my dream, effigies of my immediate family were sitting in a circle and my mom's effigy asked what prayers anyone had to recommend for my uncle. My effigy said, in a flat monotone. "May his souls and the souls of all the faithfully departed, though the mercy of God, rest in peace." Everyone looked at Effi-me for a minute, then someone said, 'You don't think he is leaving the hospital, do you?' "Nope" When I woke up, I knew that this dream was my honest thought. My great uncle did actually survive long enough to be put in a hospice home but died within three days of being there.

The only thing that keeps me from un-aliving myself is the fact I inherited my father's cats and I'm the only one around to care for them. I absolutely refuse to dump them at the pound because the pound doesn't have the funds to care for the animals they do have. Plus taking away their freedom? No way. They have lived in my father's house, free to roam almost their entire lives.

I hear that. Only it's my own cats. My sweet boy Patches died last year at about 14 years, so not a young cat for all that he acted as though he was 2-6 years old. Past kittenhood, but not old or cranky. My girl Sweet Autumn Cloud is a couple months short of 15, and she also acts about 2-6 years of age. I am NOT looking forward to when she passes. I might have to go find me another cat at that point to keep me from pining away. Losing my boy was pretty crushing. Made my normally indifferent manager at work worry over me, because I teared up a few times. I'm normally quite cheerful, so it's not unreasonable that others might worry at that. I'm even crying now over losing him, and it's been months... He was always sweet and cuddly, but in the last two months of his life, he took to standing on my knees and insisting on more than the usual pets and loves. Knew I found what he wanted me to do when he started purring after I wrapped both arms around him and lightly laid my head on his back. They were both rescues. And they've been doing their best to rescue me right back.

I was sitting at my work station one day when one of my coworkers started dropping hints about being pregnant. I looked up in utter horror, because this same woman had JUST gotten back from maternity leave a couple weeks before. I said she may want to wait until she's a little further along considering she JUST had a baby after a rough pregnancy that had caused her to be on very light duty before her maternity leave, and odds were shaky so soon..... She insisted that, although her body "hated pregnancy, it didn't reject it"... sigh. She miscarried pretty shortly after, and I was forced to be a captive audience to the horror story of how she miscarried in the bathtub with her mom by her side.

Not me, but my husband. Almost 2 years ago, we went out to eat with my mom and dad. While waiting for our food, my dad gets a phone call from my older brother. It was really loud in the restaurant, so my dad rejected the call and was trying to text my brother that he'd call him after we had eaten, and he called again. My dad got up and walked outside to answer it, and about 15 minutes later, he came back looking really distressed. He was quiet the rest of the meal. My husband and I got to our car and were on our way home, and I brought up my dad. Now, my husband and my brother aren't close and don't talk outside of family get-togethers, so what happened next was crazy. My husband goes, "I have a feeling that your brother and his wife are getting a divorce." I just stared at him and asked, "Why do you think that?" He shook his head and said, "I don't know. Just a strong feeling I've got." The next day, Mom called me, and sure enough, no warning or even the slightest sign- my brother's wife kicked him out, and he had to move back in with Mom and Dad. Come to find out, she'd been having an affair for about a year. To this day, still blows my mind my husband was right about that.

I've had many of these bad gut feelings because having a sixth sense runs in the family. My most recent one happened 3 years ago. My fiance and I had our 7th year anniversary coming up. I was worried as I often heard about the 7 year slump in relationships. Although I thought things were fine. Our anniversary came around and he didn't acknowledge it, which was unusual. I said "Happy anniversary!". He responded by saying "oh crap!", like it slipped his mind. He didn't say anything else. Then he stopped responding to my messages, which was also unusual. I went to his house on that Saturday, 2 days after our anniversary. He was cheating on me and that girl was at his house. I never saw her as he ushered me right out of his place. It took me a couple of years to get over that and I'm still not 100% over it but it's much better. It was the second most painful experience of my life.
@cchastant8251
@cchastant8251 4 ай бұрын
Yeah, I have that sixth sense, too. Place I was working was spinning down in business, they pulled us in for a meeting. As soon as the meeting ended, the newest hire was instantly let go, to the relief of all. I looked around at the amount of work we were getting in, and at the end of my shift, I walked up to the boss. "You have enough work to keep 5 people busy. I'm not one of them." Meaning there were 5 people with greater seniority/flexibility in what they did for him, and he didn't really need me. He asked if I was sure, and I told him it was a fact. Didn't bother mentioning that I was also the next most recent hire, as I was competent, just not as flexible in all I could do. Hadn't been there long enough to cross train in every position. So he gave me an actual pink slip. There were others, too. Including a partner cheating on me. It didn't hit me as hard. I think I'd been reading the signs and slowly withdrawing from him in return.

@@cchastant8251 I'd imagine that was probably so rough! Both for work and your relationship. I've been over worked at my last job and I never got a raise or anything. One day back in the 90s, I was listening to Lithium on the radio with my boyfriend. Knowing I have wide swaths of "I don't know about that," I asked him what lithium was. "Antidepressant." "Man... Kurt Cobain (lead singer) won't last much longer." Few months later... yeah. He was gone, by his own hand. I lived in Seattle (where he'd also lived prior to dying) at the time, so one day the boyfriend suggests we drive past his home. I didn't mind. It wasn't like, "WOW! His home is close enough we can?!?" More like, "Huh. Didn't know his place was so close. Sure, let's go look." I enjoyed his music, but since told what lithium was, I knew his life was no longer to be measured in years. I believe my boyfriend was a bit sad about it, but not crying, moping, or otherwise showing signs of distress. I've... never really understood crushing so hard on the unobtainable, that their death would leave me crushed. Feel it, yes. Not to the point of a close family member dying, though. But I saw the evidence of many other people who didn't feel as detached.

Several years ago I had two friends. One of my friends was about to celebrate their birthday and had a feeling her boyfriend would be getting her a kitten. When the big day came, I talked to him and he said that he had gotten her two hamsters. Almost immediately I knew the guy was going to break up with my friend. (I'm serious. The hamsters tipped me off.) Anyways I told my other friend this was going to happen and he rejected the idea. Chastised me and told my female friend what I had said. Both worked together to get me banned off DA and in return I cut all communication off with them. Though that did change once. A month later my former female friend tells everyone that her boyfriend had proposed. My former male friend told me about this and I told him that it changed nothing. Another month later my former female friend announced that during a trip back home, her fiance left to get cigarettes and never came back. Turned out he returned home, packed all his stuff and left. My former female friend made this announcement and also mentioned me. She didn't say my name, but mentioned that if I made fun of the situation I can go and get hit by a potato truck. Truth is, I never felt any pride in this. I lost two good friends and my former female friend lost someone she loved.
