We have been insanely busy on the run up to christmas so not had time to work on any new projects but I thought I would do a quick update to let you know what we will be working on in the new year customcans.co.uk/shop/product...

Best of luck in coming year! 🎉 i was wondering if you will restock foam mod kit for Sundara closed back, since you are going to work on those more.

Yes, a member of the team put something they should not have in the laser cutter and it caught fire. We are waiting for parts to arrive to fix it. Hopefully we should be able to make more next week

Hi folks, I like your work. I found the modifications to the Sundara closed back very interesting. Now I own an OLLO Audio S4X and am thinking about buying the S5X too. I would be happy if you would discuss the two headphones and also if you had a few suggestions for possible modifications. Happy holidays and all the best! Frederic

I’m so pleased with my Sundara CB now that I’ve installed your mod. I’d be interested to know whether adding any mass to the wooden cups would make any positive differences, as they’re a bit thin.
@CustomCans6 ай бұрын
We did try sticking a layer bitumen type damping material over the inside of the earcup and it did not change anything very much so I don't thing that is necessary. I will try a load more things early next year and do a video with measurements and stuff

Looking forward to seeing what else youre able to do with the sundara closed back. The foam inserts were great, and the pad adapter ring has been useful so far.

Yes, I am not 100% sure what we can do but there is deffinately some more performance to be squeezed out of them

Hi, Jason! Can DT770 damping pads reduce 200-300 Hz bump on the Sundara closed? It seems that it is a wood cup resonance. Also, I noticed a sound improvement with better cable. Going to test DIY silver plated cable.

iam so curious about the Edition XS stuff coming up in 2024! The headstrap is a real gamechanger for me, love the extra comfort! You guys have developed some great products
@CustomCans6 ай бұрын
Yes, I looking forward to the XS project. I recently did some tuning for another company and came up with some new techniques I will be trying out. I think the plan is to come up with a practical, safe mod people can fit themselves and maybe a maybe something more outlandish and impractical to see what is possible / have some fun with it

Sooo HFM doesn't sells drivers as spare parts like Senn? Cuz that would be a huge money saving when you are doing such projects, why not just buy drivers and have one spare of headphones, than buying bunch of them :D
@CustomCans7 ай бұрын
Yes, Hifiman don't sell drivers separately at the moment. I think you can send them in for repair but hopefully, I will not destroy any and can sell them modded for a small profit.

Glad that business is good, I hear the excitement in your voice! Have you ever done any T50RP mods? I appreciate that it might have been done to death but I'm happy with your DT770 V3 and have a pair of T50RP to mess around with.
@CustomCans7 ай бұрын
We have played a bit with the T50RP but as you say, we were a bit late to the party and did not have a lot to add. But.. I think we do have a pair here somewhere so I may have a go at some of the popular mods and do some measurements or something in a video

Me trying to see how your ultimate cable look like when worn outside feels like getting a shot of a monster in a steven spielberg movie with a lot of suspense and tease. In your original video, the cable is mostly on the table but at no time it is on a set and on your head. Then there is that guy who reviews your mod that has that cable as well, but he never put it on and here I see it hoocked to that hifiman lol New to the hobby but you are already my favorite guy :) I dont want to use more than 100 on a cable, but that ultimate cable project is really cool and I wouldnt mind. I think the black and white will fit perfeclty my audeze LCD-xc (21) but really dont wanna feel like wearing a belt around. Located in norway so I often have a jacket

Edit: I saw the cable finally on when you tried the organics :)

Interesting stuff. I dabble here and there with modding, well i did, but i don't have a measurement rig as of yet, I'm purely relying on my ears. It is more of an experimental past time, to satisy my curioisity. I've messed around with the Creative Aurvana Live, but i ended up stripping back the mods because i lost track of where i was up too. I mostly tinkered with IEMs though. Since moving about three years ago, i haven't kept it up. I am by no means an expert, and i had an habit of not keeping notes. Will be interesting to see what you do with your future projects.

I have always loved pulling things apart and modifying or repairing them... Sometimes breaking things along the way but I never feel something is truly mine unless I have opened it up and found out how it works and what can be changed
@CustomCans7 ай бұрын
If you are thinking doing some basic testing, we started off with a Behringer ECM8000 Measurement Microphone stuffed inside a polystyrene head. It worked really well and cost around £50 all in

Quick question for you, I have the hd-25’s for dj’ing, I like to have the right ear cup pivoted back, but the left side pivots can I change it over??
@CustomCans6 ай бұрын
You can swap the earcups over but then the cable will be on the swivel side which may be annoying. The right way to do it would be to replace the jack and wire the new jack with left and right swapped. Or... if you don't use split queue on the mixer, just ware them the other way round;)

I recieved the thicker leather strap two days ago. The quality is nice but after 3-4 hours the strap streches so much with my Deva Pro that the uncomfy bit in the middle hits my head again. I redid the sticky bits on both sides ca. half a centimeter upwards today but after another 3-5 hours it streched again to that annoying point. Can you give me any advice? i have around 5mm on either side left and will try tomorrow.
@CustomCans7 ай бұрын
The top of the leather should be level with the top of the plastic part when you stick it on. If that is where it is and you are still having issues, pop us an email and we will send you out a less stretchy one
@muffty13376 ай бұрын
@@CustomCans yeah i am already way past that point. the leather thicks out above the plastic caps around 5-6mm on each side. i will send you an e-mail with pictures this week. :)
