Welcome to this COSTCO UK vlog! On this day we took a trip to COSTCO to see what they had. In my honest opinion, just because it's COSTCO, doesn't mean all of the prices are "bargain basement".
I show you in this what food items we purchased and the bill - let me know if you think it was overpriced or not!

I go into Costco once or twice a month. I find it a necessary evil. I find that some of the items are expensive. You are correct when you say you have to check your prices. The reason I don’t like Costco where I live in Canada is because every time I go there, it takes a while to find parking and the store is packed with shoppers.

I am a single Costco member, and I still love it even though I don't shop there as often as a family does. I split a lot of stuff with my sister, and I never go without a list. If I don't have a list, I'll impulse buy. Not good. So list items first. Then, if I need to buy a Dyson, I will. I bought my Kitchen Aid mixer there, and some wardrobe staples. Things I always buy: big bag of frozen chicken breast, butter 4 pack, block of sharp cheddar, big bag of walnuts, parmesan and feta cheeses. Anything you can freeze will be a good deal. I also buy pantry staples packs, green beans or diced tomatoes, beans, soup, etc., plus coffee. Meat is often a pretty good price, as well as fish. I also buy their Kirkland brand medicine cabinet staples. Allergy pills, pain reliever, shampoo, etc.. So it depends on what you buy. Not everything is the best deal. But I know that what I save more than pays for my membership. What I don't buy there: Jewelry, TV's, laptops, large appliances. ❤

This was really interesting, I was surprised to see that Costco UK looks pretty much like Costco USA, even some of the same products as well. I haven't had a Costco membership in a while, we don't have one closer than an hour away and I agree that sometimes it's not really a good deal. With just two of us here, it's hard to use up some of the stuff before it goes bad too unless I plan ahead to freeze it. LOVED the David cam! And got a good chuckle out of "this isn't going to fit in our refrigerator"--been there many times myself LOL!

You’re Costco is sooo much better then ours and I’m in the us 🤦🏻‍♀️ I wish we had some of the ready to eat food options that you have there. What’s the deal with the vat in England it’s like the us you pay vat in the cash register or it’s just there because it’s an American brand? It’s always looks expensive over there but you need to learn what to buy there if you use everything it’s worth the money and saves a lot in the long run

Yeaaa Costco this is one of my fave shops, I am so happy to see this side of you and David as you go on your adventures. I dont eat the samples, I go with a list. I saw beside the tangle teaser is the PInk Eraser facial cloth THEY ARE AWESOME they take makeup off with just water its worth taking a peek at. They work like a charm. Also those of us that are seasoned Costco shopers know ONLY BUY WHEN THINGS ARE ON SALE. You save even more, but it takes keeping up with what you normally buy from them. Hey Sophie would you do a segment on food comparison from Costco v more expensive foods. Like the salad or the cakes etc. would you do a regular segment on how much you can save with Costco foods v buying them elsewhere and still maintaining your waistline and not overeating because you got the food in bulk. Hugs from Canada 🥰🥰

Yep, that's about right for Costco. I find it's not really worth it for small families, but I still have had a membership for 10 years 😂 it's DEFINITELY NOT closeout prices, but you can save money there. I look at is the same as 1.5% cash back on a credit card. Is it much? No. But if I'm going to buy it anyway may as well 🤷🏿‍♀️

I've been a member of Costco for so long---since the early 80s when it was still known as Price Club. I love to shop there mostly just before the holidays. I budget though, and never spend more than about $200. I live by myself, and bulk items would go bad before I could use it all. 2 of my TVs came from Costco. One is my computer monitor---52 inch screen that hangs on the wall. I've bought clothing from there as well, and also food. (Jan Griffiths).

❤thanks for the video ❤ Any shop has to fit the domestic purchase strategy. Costco may be a savings, if they stock the items you do need in bulk and stick with those, rather than full shop or a browse. The deals are more hit and miss from years ago. UK food and homeware prices at other shops are so much less overpriced than the US, so there is less savings for the UK market. The stand mixers were expensive. Some of these US brands may have had heavy import taxes? Thanks again!

Seeing a lot of the same products the ones in/near my town have. I suspect that prices are probably cheaper here in the US and Japan (Costco is booming in Japan) and we have gas stations at many of them that are consistently cheapest prices in town. TVs and most electronics aren’t discounted often in Costco here (same prices/discounts as other stores such as Best Buy), but clothing is cheap. We also have Aussie bites, I think it’s a US thing??? I had a manager from Australia a few years ago, and he had no idea about them until I brought a package to work. (He ate nearly all of them!) Mostly buy steaks, fish, chicken, etc. there since the prices are decent compared to the grocery stores in town. With the Costco credit card, every year nets rewards back in the US only which is why it’s likely more appealing here (card has OK multiplier categories such as 3x restaurant, 2x gas at Costco up to 6k yearly for example). Online Costco in the US also has heavily discounted fragrance (niche and designer, decent selections inc Tom Ford, Killian etc) and many items not in stores, so I buy from the site if the shipping costs are worth the spend (some products are free delivery).

The problem with places like Costco is the internet can be very slow or not work at all, so sometimes you have to do your home in advanced. A good things about Costco 1. Quality of products is always good, 2. You can return up to a year later. I find the fruits way too expensive, but it be cos I’m in the Midlands and I’m an Aldi/Lidl shopper. When we had a shop we would go to Costco for offers on Alcohol, soft drinks, water and sometimes toilet paper, there wasn’t much else we would get. We would bulk buy and as we had executive membership we would get cash-back every year, so at the very least the membership was free and the most you got max £150 cash back.

Very true! I wonder if they block the internet on purpose? Because now you mention it, we had no data loading on our phones. I wish Costco in the UK was more like it is in the States. I see lots of videos of people doing hauls from there and they find really cute clothing and homeware items. I've never seen them over here. Yes, totally agree - it's great to stock-up on essentials.
