Is most of this produce conventional? Do you feel you can sustain good health even with the chemicals? Thanks so much for sharing such great info and tips!
@RawFoodRomance
@RawFoodRomance 13 күн бұрын
Yes yes yes! I think conventional food is quite demonized but is still fine in my eyes. Organics are still sprayed, just with “approved” sprays. We do not eat only organic though we do buy it. I’d say we are 50/50 organic/conventional. I healed so many things eating conventional produce. It’s usually very expensive too so we do what we can. We aren’t scared ☺️😉🤍🤍🤍

Perhaps!! We haven’t been able to meet up much with anyone cuz our days are so packed and it’s a time away for us. Next time we go we will be going to the health expo. We basically follow Johns schedule that he make cuz we film for him and stuff too but one of these times we may plan a fruit luck or something. If we do I would be sharing it on my instagram stories ❤️

A few questions, is the eventual plan to try and get a house or what’s the reason behind being in an apartment? Also 18:27 is it not completely riduculious to buy organic produce to then “wash” it in city tap water? Are you not just letting them soak in Florida and chlorine doing that? Great video I always enjoy seeing what you get, I go to the Birmingham wholesale market here in uk and your right about the terminals you can save BIG money. All the best and thanks again 😊
@RawFoodRomance
@RawFoodRomance Жыл бұрын
Thank you!!! Glad you enjoyed the video and also happy you have terminals where you are too! As for the thoughts, we don’t buy all organic and we aren’t super concerned about all the little things in the water for example. I know that can annoy some people but honestly if we were super paranoid about every little thing it would be too stressful. I could have used the reverse osmosis machine for the water but there’s a tank and there’s only so much water in it that we use for drinking and soaking sprouts so no way we could get all that water in one go to soak the berries, which weren’t organic. It also takes more water to use the ro machine because it uses more water to make the clean water and it’s super slow too, not fast like the tap. And maybe one day we will get a house but we LOVE living in this high rise. We don’t pay for power or water or trash or pool maintenance whereas we would pay more total if we got a house here. We do talk about it but it’s not in the plan just yet. That doesn’t mean it’s bad or whatever, it’s interesting how people think we have to live in a house…. It’s our choice and we love it. Living in a house is much more work too with a yard and we aren’t ready for that at this point in our lives. We are soaking up downtown life right now and when it’s time, we might move. Everyone has their own path and choice of living space. Much love!! 🤍🤍❤️🤍

Hi Lissa thank you for sharing your haul. Can you tell me how much is the case of sun chokes? I love them but the little bag at the store is so expensive. Also the Asian spices you got can you give me the website please? Is the miso from the same place? Sorry for so many questions. Thank you 😊

Heya!!! Glad you enjoyed the haul video! Cases of sunchokes vary depending on the time of season. They can be 30-40$ or 10-20$ for a 10lb case. The Asian koji was from Amazake Co.

No we don’t buy all organic. I was saying SOMETIMES you can get organic for 99 cents there but this wasn’t one of those times. These were $1.99 each non organic.

Is the freeze dryer noisy? How long does it take to freeze dry foods?
@RawFoodRomance
@RawFoodRomance Жыл бұрын
It sounds like an AC unit kinda… depending what you put in there and the size of the freeze dryer maybe 25-45+ hours?! Really depends. The machine picks the time based on what’s in there/moisture/surface area etc

Thanks for the video! I have been maximally raw since 1995 and have never heard of anyone freeze drying from home. Very impressive. Where do you get the stainless steel lids that allow you to remove the excess air? I regularly use two different kinds, but the ones you have look like they really work! I think John Kohler from OK Raw uses the same ones that you do.

Yeah John is one of our best friends and he’s the one that showed us those lids! I have a link for them in LISSAS LIST tab if you go here: sociatap.com/rawfoodromance in the kitchen section of Lissa’s list. Also the home freeze dryer link is there too!

Wow, thank you! I appreciate how organized you are! I got the lids and the Debbie Meyer green boxes. I have been looking for something like the Debbie Meyer green boxes for a while. By the way, I live in Los Angeles and we have just started buying more of our produce by the box load via the downtown LA market. I have a good connection on low cost organic produce if you are interested.

Great haul!!! So much beautiful abundance!!! I live in L.A. and have been to the L.A. Wholesale Produce terminals. Where did you find the case of dates? There was a vendor in the Old Market that use to sell 5lbs of dates for 20 bucks that I religiously bought from but they stopped renting a stall there. After that, and I could never seem to find any dates from the either the main terminals or the Old Market.
@RawFoodRomance
@RawFoodRomance Жыл бұрын
This was the only time we found dates at the big terminal. It was one of the first units after parking. He sold lots of berries and usually has mega deals. I sadly can’t remember the name of his unit but this box of dates was the only one they had too! It’s was a lucky find!

I love your video and I have so many questions, lol. 1) Where can I find your masala recipe? 2) I'm in SoCal. What are the names of some of the terminals that you went to? 3) Do you have a separate room where you process and store you dehydrated fruits and vegetables? Or, do you process and store all of that in your kitchen? Can you show us some recipes using the Koji and sugar cane juice? I have meal plan 2 and 3, but I don't think I noticed any recipes with these 2 ingredients.
@RawFoodRomance
@RawFoodRomance Жыл бұрын
Haha awww I’ll try to answer!! 1) Masala recipe is in my app www.rawfoodromance.com but I think it’s called something different like microbiome masala. Same idea! 2) just go in maps and type PRODUCE DISTRICT LA to find the produce district. I typed the address of the main terminal in the description box of this video too! 3) We don’t have much space in our high rise condo… it’s pretty small. We process it all in the kitchen and the freeze dryer is in our office. Our pantry is getting pretty packed haha! We bought an extra freezer too, it lives in the living room haha! 4) I don’t have recipes with koji or sugar cane because not everyone can get those things and because we JUST discovered koji so it’s not in any past recipe books cuz I never knew it existed until only a few months ago. Koji is used just like miso so you could put it in anything calling for miso and sugar cane you could use as the water for a dressing, just use half the amount of dates suggested if there’s dates. Hope that answers!
@missbridgetbutler
@missbridgetbutler Жыл бұрын
@@RawFoodRomance Thank you! You are always so great about answering questions. And yes, you answered everything, except I didn't see the address of the main terminal in the description box. I looked a few times, but maybe my eyers are just glossing over it or I need glasses, lol. I was all raw for over 10 years and started incorporating some "heat processed" vegetables into my diet. Your approach to raw is so refreshing and delicious (with 2 salad meals a day rather than 2 fruit meals) and has inspired me to get back to 100%.

Why wouldn’t you move to LA area?😀
@RawFoodRomance
@RawFoodRomance Жыл бұрын
Because we love love love living in Las Vegas. And Nevada is a much better state for our businesses. We don’t pay state tax here either and that saves us tens of thousands of dollars a year. No way will we move to California… but it’s a great and beautiful place to visit! Only 3.5 hours away so really not bad. Plus we don’t want to live in THAT big of a city either. Vegas is a “small town” compared! 12 million compared to 2… traffic is so much nicer in Vegas.
