What we know about the Madison, Wisconsin, school shooting

More details are emerging about the shooting at a school in Madison, Wisconsin, where at least two people died, according to officials. CBS News' Nicole Sganga and Anna Schecter report, and David Wagner, a former Abundant Life Christian School principal, joins CBS News with his reaction.

They fight for attendance, they insist that our children come to school at all costs, but they cannot ensure the safety of children in school. They do not pay attention to bullying, they do not strengthen security control and discipline. If this happens, then something needs to change, right?

As a teenager having metal detectors in schools would feel more like a “prison,”for lack of a better word. However it seems that not having them is to big of a risk, I am very lucky the school I go to has 1-2 officers on campus, we also have very vigilant admin and security staff, however we have had several lock downs and threats. I hope this helped I anyway and didn’t feel like a bunch of nonsense.

It was politically motivated, you can find what she was posting in online forums, the shooter was a radical feminist who hated men, so the media needs some time to figure out how they're going to spin it, since it doesn't fit the usual narrative that only men can be violent bigots. So it only makes sense that people are curious as to who committed the attack and why, given that the media seem pretty reluctant at the moment to give information on that part.

An event like this was pretty callable by anyone with a finger on the pulse and paying attention imo. Misandry has been okayed in teaching the new generations and it's just going to be the new rising hate group. We didn't replace hate with no hate, we just changed the group it's ok to hate on. Reminds me of that Facebook thing that happened when they tried to make a gender and race blind algorithm for combatting hate speech, and instead of what they expected something like 90% or something to that effect of the hate was directed at men

If you will pay hundreds of dollars to take your children to an amusement park or a sports game with metal detectors to keep the attendees safe then taking your kids to school with metal detectors should be a no brainer. Unfortunately, we will never go back to the way it used to be when we as the parents used to go to school. The safety of our kids is more important then trying to keep things the way it used to be. I'm surprised the police offer said he wanted to keep metal detectors out of the school. I pray for all kids, parents, teachers, faculty and staff.

@ true but as I grew up (old school), we had community centers and programs and big mamas to help guide us. All community because the Fathers were gone and the Moms had to go to work. We gotta get back to community. However first we need to heal individually and then as a People. The children are really our future what we put in them (tv, music, words and acts) is what they will process and give back to us. They only know what we and this country teaches us. The most important person to know is ourselves.
