Kulusevski easily - Bissouma had a stinker in the second half, and Kulusevski kept us in it by his hold up play into the wings. Thought Dragusin also got away a bit with all that criticism of Forster - if you watch the wide angled replay of the first goal, he’s completely asleep so loses out because he’s not ready and off balance. He’s then also pointing the wrong way to receive the ball under pressure for the second. To be honest, think Dragusin’s passing accuracy was also shocking - his terrible weak foot causes us some massive problems under pressure. Impressed by Spence as well.

Bissouma was much improved but got to be Solanke for me. His two goals came mostly from his own excellent centre forward play and they were critical to us winning. We all knew we were going to need to score lots to win today and we did thanks to the big man up top.

I think there is a characteristic of Bissouma that is SUPER underrated, that nobody talks about. He is the ONLY player I see that traps the ball instead of heading it away to the other team like our CBs (Radu, the biggest culprit) and Porro does every single time. Biss almost always brings it down with his head and turns it into a great transition back onto the front foot, even under pressure. This play that he does every game needs to be given credit.

I think there is a positive side to the difficult period we go through. A lot of the players seem to take the opportunity they are given, hugely boosting their development. Dragusin, although he started a bit shaky in the first games of his run, but has massively improved. Defensively he is just an animal; he is not the fastest but he is ruthless in every duel, he just doesnt lose them. On the bal he is constantly getting better and lately im totally comfortable with him during the build up. Then gray, what a player. I dont think i have seen someone that is so comfortable on the ball before. He doesnt know what stress is. Seeing him putting in shifts as a cb, im pretty confident he will be regular starting number 6 next season. He fits that profile perfectly. Spence amazing as well. Really feels like a new signing. It seems like he is not just going to be a back up, but really compete for the starting spots, which is good for everyone. Sarr lately also keeps impressing me. He is getting better and better. I thought he had slow start of this season but recently he has been reaching new levels.

Loved this analysis. Especially loved how you acknowledged sometimes it's just your emotions in the moment of the game that can make you think 'go long, stop playing out from the back!', but afterwards you can acknowledge the benefits of Ange's system. A maturity you don't see a lot from football analysts and pundits nowadays.
@_mcslash5 сағат бұрын
I think theres a misunderstanding around Ange. I hear a lot of people saying "sometimes you just need to clear the ball and play safe". He has never said the players cant clear the ball, the point is if they just bomb it long every time, the chances are the ball is just going to come straight back again. Tottenham will just be under the cosh defending the rest of the game. Its much easier to prevent chances if you have control of the ball. However, Ange's principles aren't "keep the ball at all costs", in fact he encourages players to play direct balls, but to the advantage of the attackers, not just aimless balls straight to the opposition

@magik4102 сағат бұрын
Not strange, every single media outlet and most content creators have realised that if you pander to assna fans and play narratives that are favourable to them it generates to most clicks and views. They have the biggest (online) fanbase around and everyone is on here trying to make as much money as possible.

Dom was great and I'm pleased for him too - the players I am most pleased with were Djed Spence (MOTM), Archie Gray and Kulu. I felt for Fraser Forster though, he's an old school keeper, good shot stopper - but not one of the modern Pep-style sweeper keepers. COYS

Forster is the main culprit and I’m possibly being a little over critical, but I feel Archies wasn’t pressed overly quickly and his body position could have been more open when receiving the ball to give himself more options instead of playing it back to Forster on his goal line. And I don’t know what Biss was doing blindly playing the free kick back for the 2nd amid was on his bike before the ball was kicked. As I said over critical because I feel the performance was really solid.

@22:16 - Spurs get a lot of criticism for this tactic of seeming getting trapped in their own defensive area, but what all the pundits fail to realise is it's a tactical choice by the team. They did exactly the same thing at Man City last month - pulled about four or five City players into that left corner area before neatly moving the ball out and breaking play to the right wing to create chances. Yes, it can be hair-raising when Spurs do this, but they KNOW what they're doing. It's like they're playing 3-D chess. The drawback for this particular game was Spence at LB and Grey at CB have less experience in these positions and therefore not quite as slick as the usual starting players. Even with the mistakes that led to conceding goals, it was a great team performance and a sign of continuing improvement under difficult circumstances.

Carragher is such a muppet. He stated that something needed to change in the break. After the break , in which nothing was changed, spurs totally overclass united and scored twice. then after the game he insisted on his point that something needed to change and ange didnt do well. What? We rolled them up in the first 15 minutes, how in the world was their comeback due to his mismanagement.
@jacklane36799 сағат бұрын
Unpopular opinion; take away one player having a mental breakdown and we put on a sneaky masterclass yesterday. We looked unbelievable getting to 3-0 up and one player gifted them 15 minutes of hope... We still nicked the ball and scored after a corner from a counter to get a 4th goal! Also... Bergvall's sneaky little leap above the keeper was like a 36 year old veteran playing back in the pre-VAR days. Proper dark arts stuff.
@paulwalter27158 сағат бұрын
I loved that Bergval move. Son could barely walk to take the corner so I was expecting a front post fail. Instead it was a beauty with just a little more on it that Deki's in the 1st half. COYS

After conceding , failed to lift Tempo of the passing and allowed them to press tight , causing more mistakes . Inverting narrow and allowing Liverpool that space , not a good idea with Salah back in form. Happy went strong in the cup , hope enough in the tank not to fall flat this weekend.

I look at it differently. That last 30 minutes have me worried about Ange's future more than any other times. I understand that it was individual mistake and Ange didnt coach them explicitly to mess it up. However, clearing ball without much thought process from our third at 3 nil shouldnt be considered as abandoning the principles. Thank god we won but I cant stop thinking about what if we lost this game. The same manner as we have done many times this season by giving away a huge lead. I admire Ange for sticking to his principles but if he keeps rolling dice with limited set of players that cant fully play his style, odd will catch up on him. This makes me mad because I really love Ange and want him to succeed with us.

I've been critical of Maddison being lazy and a fair weather player, but the past few games he's been good. I'd like to see him continue to be like this. Maybe a few goals was what he needed, and if that's what he needs, then score and then be the Maddison that we expect of.

I watched this game with three friends, none of us thought anything other than Spurs were on top during the first half. However, I believe much of the confusion over this is that Sky flashed up a momentum graph at some point, it was either coloured in wrong, or just complete rubbish. Whilst it did identify Utd started to dominate from 65 mins onwards, it had them in complete control in the first half, most other providers of such graphs and metrics do not at all, in any way agree with this, but of course Neville and Co will trumpet this narrative from the rooftops whilst trying to flog Salford City merch and Huel...then complaining that capitalism is evil, and a fairer system should replace it, all whilst hoarding mountains of cash (Lineker's another one) and doing noting to bring the utopia their desire into fruition. Its always easy to have principals, until it costs you I guess.
@MarkoCoomo9 сағат бұрын
Yep, that momentum graph was weird, made it look like we'd scored 3 against the run of play in the 1st half. Bizarre.
@stratostheplug11 сағат бұрын
Idc what you say but what happened yesterday at 3-0 can never happen again. This is why we should not be open and free flowing for 90 minutes. At 3-0 you should start booting the ball to your target man and manage the game. On another day united equalise and we lose on pens.
@zrales10 сағат бұрын
it only happened because forster slipped up.. twice. that basically never happens and it probably wont happen again

On another day Forster doesn't make the mistakes and we score a 4th or even a 5th

Ange and the team need to grow up and learn to change the game when we're in the lead and under pressure.
@matthewnicholas63658 сағат бұрын
@zrales rubbish. You have to look at the wider picture. United were piling the pressure on. We were 3 up and absolutely shouldn't have been playing around our own backline trying to draw them onto us. At 3 nil it should be game over and we then shut everything down.
@zrales8 сағат бұрын
@@matthewnicholas6365 you could do it that way. If the teams good enough though then playing from the back shouldn't be a problem
