Did the black water have a lot of pressure behind the cap ? I wonder why did it spray out like it did?

Yeah, there was a lot of pressure, a lot more than usual. It sounded like a champagne bottle when the cap came off. I drained it in Nebraska so it should've been nearly empty, but my best guess is that some gases from whatever was left may have built up during transport and pushed through the tank valve, pressuring the pipe between it and the cap. I haven't had any issues since I installed the secondary valve.
