So now I've added even more books to my never ending 'want to read' list 😅. I have a suggestion for your next book review. I think it would be really fun if you both chose books for different categories like favourite book of the year, most surprising, most disappointing, would read again, would not recommend, best audio book, etc ❤

I know they were being completely serious but I died laughing when they were talking about Les Miserables and Tyler says, “We’re all still humans even though time has passed.” And Jessica says “That’s a pretty strong takeaway from this book.” And out of context it sounds so sarcastic but they’re both so wholesome and honest😊🥰🥹

The part that made me kinda snicker was when they were talking about Matthew Perry's book, and Tyler said something to the effect of, he wrote it before he died.😂 I was just like, "Yep, that's generally how that works."😂 Seriously though, RIP MATTHEW... I was so devastated. Ps. I want to read that one. As the child of an addict.... I'm sure I'd learn a lot.

Thank you for talking about nurses and doctors. I am Mental health nurse and if I don’t have humor or as some might call it a morbid humor, I couldn’t do my job or even not let it cause trauma to myself. I hear so many sad traumatic experiences that people go through that I need some “weird” outlet to continue to have compassion for my job! ❤. Nurses are far more weird and out there than the doctors haha And I added Burnout to my never ending TBR because I went to my doctor with what I thought was high anxiety but turns out I am dealing with compassion fatigue and burnout so I need to read this because I want to be my best self when I am helping my patients

Having grown up with a single parent (mom), and not having much money, my siblings and I were encouraged to read. Every day our mom would drop us off at the library right after school. We would spend hours reading books and then would bring home stacks of books to read over the next couple of weeks. Now as an adult, all of my siblings and myself, we still read tons of books and pass them from home to home to share the joy of reading. I’d like to recommend a couple of books and I think it would be fun to have the two of you read your viewers suggested books. My suggestions are The Glass Castle and Half Broke Horses by Jeanette Wells.

In all honesty I cannot believe you two even have time to read. With all the videos, Vlogmas, remodeling,the girls, traveling, editing travel videos, where do you find time to read?? I love it of course because I'm a voracious reader. I read every single night when I go to bed. I loved The Hotel Nantucket too. I love anything Elin Hilderbrand writes! I was glued to Prince Harrys book. I am still shocked that I am reading and loving the series, A Court of Thorns and Roses. I'm reading book #2 now. Also loved the Fourth Wing series. This is not a genre I was ever drawn to until now! Thanks for sharing. Happy New Year, Tyler and Jessica 🥳🎉

Favorite memoir of the year: Viola Davis’ “Finding Me”. She is a marvelously deep and inspiring person (in addition to being a superb actress). I was just at the bookstore yesterday & purchased a previous recommendation, The Thursday Murder Club & thought of you two the whole time I was there "Jessica recommended that", "Tyler recommended that", etc. I definitely prefer one long year-end book video personally as opposed to splitting it into 2 videos every 6 months. Mainly because I get used to you all being apart of my day, every day during vlogmas, then after Christmas we kinda go through withdrawal, but there's this video to look forward to, but obviously I am only one person & I'm not the one filming it. Thanks for another wonderful year! Happy New Year's Braun Family!🎊🎆
@InquisitiveOwl365
@InquisitiveOwl365 7 ай бұрын
I'm hoping if they do the split that means they can take more time discussing the books (chatty book discussion vs quick overview w/opinions) and don't have to worry about the video being 'too long'. It is nice to have a video after Christmas though-there aren't many since a lot of youtubers take a break right then.
@hlu777
@hlu777 7 ай бұрын
@InquisitiveOwl365 Very fair & valid point. They did do a 6 month spilt one year [I think it was last year 2022], but unfortunately, it was still rapid fire therefore it was just a shorter video [around 15 min if I remember correctly], which is why I said I prefer this format. The other issue I had with the 6 mo. split was that in the Dec video (July to December books), they were constantly referring back to the Jan-Jun books & video, but because it had been 6 months since we'd seen that video it was super confusing & quite honestly irritating that we essentially had to re-watch the first 6 month's video in order for the 2nd 6 month's video to make sense. Admittedly, that might not have been an issue for anyone else. Obviously, I'm only one person/viewer & it's not my channel so if everyone else wants the 6 month split and/or if that's how they prefer to shoot it, that's ok with me. I'll watch it either way, but the full year in review is simply my preference. If they do, do the 6 month split it would be really nice if they did what you said & took more time to do a more in-depth discussion about each book and when they refer back to a previous book it would be really helpful if they would edit in the clip from the prior video so we don't have to hunt it down & keep bouncing back & forth between the prior video to the current video a million times. I completely agree. It is really nice to have this book video between Christmas & New Year's when everyone is taking a break. Especially coming off of vlogmas where we all get used to the Braun's being part of our everyday lives. It really helps ease the transition process. Thank you for your comment. Hope you have a nice day.😊

This is always my fave year end video. I get prepared with pen & paper. Some of my favorite books of all times - Angela's Ashes, The book of Negroes, Fall on Your Knees, Memoirs of a Geisha and No Great Mischief. My goal this past year was to read a "new" book & a "classic" every month. I don't have a lot of extra time for reading...but that will change. I read some Hemingway for the first time, it was a great goal for the year. Now I've set 5 books per month for 2024 and I started last night with Fourth Wing. Happy New Year to everyone, and happy reading!

It’s so interesting to me how different people prefer to read, I find audiobooks so much harder to focus on! My mind wanders and I find I’m not listening at all lol. I’ve read 401 books this year as of today. I know it’s actually more than that, because that’s just on my kindle app. Last year on my kindle app was 210 books, so almost double. I look forward to hear your thoughts, and recommendations. I’m posting this before I watch the video. Happy New Year.

How in the world did you read so many?! 😳😳

I honestly have no idea how I read so many. I guess I’m a fast reader, some books are shorter, some are longer. However this wasn’t a specific goal by any means. I really just love to read. Thanks for the congratulations.

Thanks for doing these! I got back into reading this year because of your book review last year. It had been years since I willingly read a book, and yall even influenced me to buy a kindle. I went from reading 0 to 9 books in just one year! Wouldn't have done it without yall! 😆💓

I love that my reading wavelength is similar in wanting to scale down the goal and actually focus on some tomes and the books we really want to read. I hit 60 books this year (no audio) after making a goal of 40 but I definitely chose some books based on how quickly I could read them. But I purposefully didn't pick up books like The Way of Kings or a Ken Follett tome because I knew I would take my time getting through them. Looking forward to some great reads this year, I can feel it. Happy reading ya'll!

What a great video. Thank you! I can’t wait to read the book about Newport, which is one of my favorite beach destinations. Another place I love is Nantucket and I really enjoyed “Hotel Nantucket” by Elin Hilderbrand. If you want to follow up with another great Nantucket based book from her, with a lot of island detail and a great story, try “Golden Girl”. I think I liked it even more.

Jess, a great start to watching a movie with Viola Davis is to watch "Woman King." AMAZING movie! It was so inspiring and I left that theatre so happy and ready to take on the world as a woman. LOL. Watch it , 10/10.

I recently listened to Leslie Jones' new book..I went in expecting a good laugh, and didn't stop crying for the first 2 chapters. That aside, top 5 all time audiobooks. You HAVE to listen to her narrate it, I swear she doesn't read a single word! She just tells you her story. Absolutely a 5 star listen.

I am so glad you do this. I’ve added at least four books to my goodreads want to read list. I can’t believe how many books you all manage to read during the year. I managed to do 10 last year but missed my goal of 12. I’m inspired by you to start afresh with a new goal for 2024!

Willig, Williams, and White - those three are amazing authors in their own right, and their collaboration books are especially brilliant. I’ve met ‘Team W’ at an author event for the release of All The Ways We Said Goodbye, and they’re brilliant and funny women. If I remember correctly, they write the books in a round robin kind of style, each writing a chapter and sending it on to the next author to continuing. All of their books are really good, and I particularly love Beatriz Williams’ books. The Secret Life of Violet Grant is maybe my favorite book of all time.

Can I request for future book videos (especially is there are a lot of books to cover) that there are time stamps of the books. I watched it and then came back later to mark the books I wanted to add to my list and some of them I wanted a reminder of what you said and it took a bit to find the right place in the video. Appreciate the book/travel videos!

Big books I read physically and with the audiobook. I can physically read a couple chapters then I can listen to it on audio in the car or when doing chores. I love GRs have been using it for years BUT I recently ordered a book journal. I will still continue to use GR but something about coloring in a book every time you finish one and tracking it in a more artistic way is just so satisfying to me. I don’t have the talent to create my own buller journal and I found some on Amazon I liked.

Frances Mayes is a college professor. If you read ‘Under the Tuscan Sun’, her first book, it’s less more professor and more average reader. As she’s written more, her professor style pops out more. I liked ‘A Year in the World’ because of the locations she went.

Tyler and Jess -- if you liked "What Happened to You?" I'd really recommend "The Four Agreements", which also reframes a lot of things in life and has helped me not take things personally in many areas of my life. Also a good book for people in intimate committed relationships. Love your books reviews and it inspires me to turn off the dang social media (but I still will never miss your videos and podcast!) and read more. Happy New Year, Jess, Tyler, Gigi, Lissy and Pinotte!

As a total bookworm (who’s a bit out of practice but still adores reading) I love that you guys do this. I’ve stumbled upon both Jessica and Tyler’s channels this year and ❤ both SO SO MUCH. As someone who took her kids to Disney for the first time, is a working momma who enjoys beauty and home product reviews, dinner ideas, travel in general, and just good old fashioned coffee chats and Costco runs- I was pleasantly surprised to see you did this video too! Jessica - look I to author Amy Harmon. She’s fantastic. She’s written wonderful novels, historical fiction, and some fantasy/fiction. But all of it is Beautiful. Highly recommend The Law of Moses, and The Bird and the Sword. Mariana Zapata is a novelist I enjoy also. Easy romantic reads but so heartwarming. Wait for It, Kulti, Luna and the Lie.
