Good Guys sold the gun to bad guys?? The good guys would have not held weapon in their hands in the first place, they would have used something on their head called brain. But come on, lets put it right now and please don't say it is too late.

This man too is a believer, if he says zia was a true believer: the difference is this man is stance believer that US army has to put finger in all holes, like Vietnam. USA mistakes to be highlighted than turning these issues to ISI What USA was doing if ISI they knew was doing wrong Game is out of USA in Asia

In 1971 india and Soviet Union signed a twenty five year friendship treaty The treaty said an attack in one country is considered as an attack on other and will support each other India desperately needed this agreement to keep the Chinese at bay during the 1971 India pak Bangladesh war So in 1989, the Indians had to support the Russians in Afghanistan

You can never know the truth about anything unless you talk to the people who were actively participated in the incident on which you are providing your expert. opinion. Both Afghans and Pakistan and countless Mujahideens defeated the Soviets. No single entity can claim the victory.

Riedel seems to have great admiration for Zia and conveniently claims all some CIA actions as 'mistake'. In fact to say that CIA was not responsible for encouraging (directly or indirectly) Osama during the Afghan war is laughable. He rightly points out democratic India siding Russia but forgets to mention why. May be he should also point out why 'democratic US' supported Pakistani military in the genocide of Bangladeshis in 1971 that lead to a war along with the same very allies China (inventory) , Saudi (funding) and Britain. And how the CIA and US government also turned a blind eye to the illegal transfer of Nuclear Bomb making technology from China to Pakistan during that very period; but publicly talked about Nuclear Non Proliferation and peace.....

I am showing courage to disagree with the speaker, a CIA learned officer. Soviet Union when entered in Pakistan and then defeated by illiterate Afghan mujahids (Tribe men) is mistaken aspect. In fact Russian invited CIA backed Taliban and Pakistan back jihadis to enter in Afghanistan. They clashed a very big and powerful regular Soviet Army and got crashed and destroyed. A large number of Fundamentalist Muslims young army was killed like vegetable in the kitchen, and then USSR left Afghanistan. It was a successful trick and then with in Pakistan all those Fundamentalist people were killed and destroyed by Russian agents...

if they got destroyed how come Taliban emerged out of Afghanistan in the 90s? And at the same time (1990s), USSR failed and dismantled itself from within. So reality is the opposite of your contention
