I had not been observing how many animals you have until I watched the flock and herd pass in front of the camera. Wow! your land is much more productive so that it supports all those animals. This too, is a great indicator of how you have helped your soil. Thanks for throwing us guys a bone to be able to see a little bit of the logging. So good to hear that you can be counted on by your church to help with VBS. I have run several VBS's and it was always a challenge to get enough workers.

I often wonder if when God cursed the ground if He really did bring forth the weeds or it was more that man was cursed with the idea that weeds were something bad instead of seeing them for what they really are! Great video guys thanks for your content!

God didn’t curse the ground 😂 Interestingly enough, if you look at history, polytheism was ditched as a way to rule over the poor and less educated. That’s why when the Christian fable of Jesus, he was the son of a carpenter (common poor person of the time) and not the son of a king. ❤

Himcgritty, thanks for the comment. I am not really understanding how polytheism would allow people more power. Communism has no God and is all about control. Genesis 4:12 describes God cursing the ground. God cursed the ground first because of Adam and second because of Cain. God’s blessings.

A soil test gives a generalist approach. What I’m getting is that it’s much more specific from one area to another. I planted clover in my front yard in an effort to combat creeping Charlie. It’s s low going, but the nitrogen fixing is helping all my flower and veggie gardens.

Hi deepost, that is a great point. We really like the clover as a ground cover as well. Is it outcompeting the Creeping Charlie?

@@RenewedHomestead I’d say the clover is holding its own. I did a lot of pulling Charlie out, but probably enhanced its ability to spread from root. I scrape around my beds to make a border to keep Charlie at bay. Actually the pollinators love Charlie blooms in early spring. We’re into peace co-existence around here. The visiting bunnies adore clover blossoms. It’s all good.

@deepost2604 we try to be the same way and live in harmony. It can be a bit harder with invasive species. 😂 We are dealing with a lot of invasives, but that is one of the reasons we have goats. There is always a solution. Have a great day! 😊

Hi Rochrich, not a weed book per se, Soil and Health by Sir Albert Howard. It was written after WWII but is very informative. Most of my weed books are on medicinals. 😊

@@RenewedHomestead A specific dung beetle for every region in the world and yes they will do poop removal for you. The beetle is killed off by de-wormer unfortunately not for pesticide reasons but for nutrients reasons for the beetle.

so weeds dont grow from seed? or are you saying certain soils are better for weeds. so like what your saying the weed will grow from seed in soil types best to for weed type. so if no weeds grow your soil is perfect? or do seeds simply grow where planted. comapcting soil is the trickest think i do when plants are rooted i us chop stick and poke holes slowly and pending on location from plant base ill swivle it or move it up and down or from sided to side pending angle. do this slowly not in hurrry miminzes chances for damage or compacting areas abroad.

Hi! Hope you are doing well. 😊 Certain soil conditions cause certain types of weeds. For example, in the creek garden we have a lot of dock, which is showing us compaction, but in our main garden we don’t have much dock growing at all. We have worked on the main garden for 2 additional al years and the soil is much better. Does that make sense? So weeds are just a sign of soil condition. Weeds don’t need as much potassium and calcium, so as nutrient like those increase in the soil, we will see less weeds. We will always have some weeds, but the weeds will tell us about the soil. I have some broadfork work to do this fall in the creek garden due to the compaction. That has worked really well for us.
