So how good is a Grand Design RV? Did our Reflection 367BHS survive it's first year? What kind of problems did we have? What did Grand Design do to help?
We visited Alum Creek State Park in Ohio, and while there we discuss the problems we've faced in our first year of owning our fifth wheel. Even little things can be frustrating when owning an RV, so we discuss all the details with you!

We also have a 367BHS and had the same electrical issue... Turns out it's a very common issue with bedroom slides. Theres a bundle of wire connections under the bed, and each time the slide goes in & out, it was catching the wires and disconnecting them. Hence the electrical short causing the blown fuse. It's a super easy fix though and did it myself.... Sounds like whoever did you wires didn't connect the right wires back to each other... Good luck to you and appreciate the videos. It was your tour video that convinced us to go with the 367BHS. Cheers and Happy Camping!

I'm currently purchasing a two year old 337RLS. In my inspection I see nothing wrong with it and honestly all of the issues you've had are not alarming. In fact, I'd consider them pretty much minor. And as you replied to one comment, it is to be expected with all brands and models. Your overall assessment of Grand Designs is very much in line with the conversations I've had with Reflection owners...they're very happy with their purchases! I can't wait to start living in mine (i'm a full-timer). Great videos. Thank you for producing them.

Thanks great video I have the Reflection 31MB. I had the same problem with the window over the couch. Grand design ended up replacing the entire window frame. On my last trip I found a decal at the left rear at the top had a water bobble about a3” in diameter. It seems there is a separation at the top of the decal under the drain gutter. To fix it Grand-design said peel back the gutter secure the separation and glue the gutter back I’ve had the rv for two years love it. Grand design has been great

Thank you for your video. We live in Oregon, and it rains a lot here. we bought a 2023 /22MLE in Nov of 22. We left it at a friend's place for 6 weeks and when we went to go somewhere with it , the bathroom cabinets were soaked with water. I found that the sealant came apart from the rubber roof creating a huge problem. Took it back to dealer Jan 25th, and as of April 7th we still dont have our trailer. they wouldn't give us another one so they have had to replace the rubber roof, all 3 cabinets and the large 4X8 sheet of chipboard on the backside of the roof. We are having it tested today for mold spores. Through this Grand Design has been great with getting things sent and communicating with us. The dealer In Salem OR. SHOULD have done their job checking it out and we would not had this problem.

I'm sorry you're going through this... it's a shame but I do think dealers do whatever they can to sell units (even cut corners). Hopefully you'll get this all figured out with Grand Design's help!

Our first trip in our GD Solitude this past summer we had a hydraulic fluid leak. We ended up spending around $35 for ATF that weekend. After taking it back to the dealer come to find out Grand Design pierced one of the hydraulic lines going to the front slideout when securing the underbelly cover. Grand Design reimbursed us for the money we spent on the ATF. I thought that was a great example of hey we stand by our product and that shouldn't have happened.

We have the exact same model, just a 22 year version, and had some strange hiccups in the first use or two. Crazy thing, we found loose wires under the bed box in our bedroom slide. They were apart on the floor but stapled down, where the bed box was dragging over them and popping the connectors off. It first was causing the slide to not go out properly(one driver would stop) but then the lights above the bed stopped working. That is when I started digging and found the loose wires. In general we like our RV but we do think some of the quality control has been less than stellar. We chose it for the layout and the brand reputation, time will tell how we like it long term.

That wire issue seems to be a common problem... you'd think they'd figure it out by now! Overall, there are always issues with RVs, but every problem we've had Grand Design stepped up and made it right. THAT'S why we went with them, and so far we're loving it. We've actually had no issues since I've posted this video too, so hopefully you'll get the "bugs" worked out quick!

Honestly, you'll be able to find people unhappy with ANY brand of trailer. It's always a good idea to shop around and compare though. The point of this video was not to bash Grand Design, but instead make people aware no company is perfect. However, we have had a better customer service experience than any other brand. All "issues" we've experienced were covered, even some after warranty. A lot of complaints I've heard were from people being impatient and not allowing time for the repair process to work. We LOVE our Grand Design, and will probably only switch if we decide to go the motorized route!

To be honest you never really know for sure... but in the RV industry, yes, plan on having this many problems. The only major issue we had was the skylight leaking, and the window was just a crazy fluke. But Grand Design covered EVERY problem we had (even after warranty for a couple things)! Forest River fought us on almost everything with our last trailer. I'd highly recommend Grand Design for this reason. If you're going to have a few issues, better to have a company that stands by their product.

Definitely not! Although we have a Coachman Catalina Legacy with only 1 super slide and not a GD, I didn't have to start making repairs until year 3. Now moving onto year 5, I've just use to checking for missing bolts, screws, securing trip pieces and door latches.

Our solitude 3950 has had water pump leak, both shower hoses blown out, leaks on the storage door seals, the entire roof is delaminating, 1/3 of the outside compartment latches have failed, and a propane leak in one of the lines, our front bath shower doors leaked like hell as well. It's a 5 month old 2022 112,000$ rig. If you don't like fixing things do not buy a rv of any kind. This was the case with our previous open range as well. They are all very poorly built, still love rv'ing though. I'm a mechanic by trade so I handle my own repairs, I feel sorry for anyone who buys one of these who's not a handyman. The dealer service departments are a joke. Grand design has been great about shipping me parts so far.

Yep. Grand elision, sad part is I had a transcend…..dealer bought it back….the list was long….for repairs……then I bought a reflection…… got it home from the dealer……exterior door wouldn’t latch….hmmm….after I looked at, I could see the door striker. Was upside down…..so I fixed it. And the trim inside-the double sided tape didn’t hold….I want to replace the recliners for a nice comfy couch…the wires underneath are pinched under the mounting bolts…. The best part is it’s brand freakin new. And I got my welcome to the family letter from the CEO. He probably either doesn’t own one of these POS or bought another brand.

Considering we had tape on there for over 7 months by the time it got repaired, it really wasn't that bad! I think it helped we used gaff tape so there wasn't a lot of residue to begin with, and then we just used an automotive goo-gone to clean up the rest. Took me about 45 minutes to clean off.

We have a different model and plan on getting rid of it pretty quick here. What has mostly gone wrong is the poor quality of build. Yes, they do (I have heard) a 285-point inspection, not once but twice before it leaves for the dealer. The biggest problem is the dealer should do the same inspection when it arrives. I agree with "time is money", and because of that I would have preferred these things not happen at all. But since they did, I'd rather have someone else spend their time fixing it instead of doing it myself. Which is why that first year warranty is important, and having a company that stands by their warranty. Things breaking on an RV is unavoidable... so might as well have a service center and RV manufacturer that does what they say they will.
